One of the most successful lightweights in BBU history, Rochelle Wiseman (Double A), makes her return to action against a promising upstart from Tech Europe, Emmy Rossum. The 26 year old American won only one of her three fights so far but punching out welter-based Laury Thilleman deserves a special mention even when facing someone of Wiseman's calliber.

Indeed the former lightweight champion Wiseman, despite only being 23 years old herself, has earned a reputation of being one of the biggest punchers in BBU with several high-profile knockouts to her name. However she was stopped by the equally fearsome Malika Menard in December and now takes a seemingly easier route to rebuild her intimidating presence. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Wiseman storms out of her stool early and jabs to the body forcing the American to cover up but couple of shots connect with the nose and Emmy must jump back quickly to avoid more trouble yet Rochelle shows great pace and traps the actress along the ropes and whacks her between the arms, cleans out the tummy and uppercuts the rack with Rossum moaning in struggle already. More shots over the top from the former champ and she rocks the American's head well, whips more hooks to the temple and sags her rival on the ropes for good and the Liverpool crowd witness a vintage Wiseman who just mauls the opposition without much sympathy before the bell comes to Emmy's much-needed rescue.

Round 2:
Rossum overwhelmed by the opening round seeks cover along the ropes but Wiseman looks confident and doesn't rush her approach. She swings couple of big hooks around the head which see the American almost trip over her own feet but she circles back to center of the ring before Rochelle's finally done with the teasing and leaps after her, jabs to the body and slams a series against the ribcage. Rossum tries to reponse, skims off the temple but has no room to work her shots as Wiseman spikes her on the mouth with a straight jab, follows up with more ribcage pounding and Emmy must step back again, falls on the ropes and gets trapped, eats couple of jabs on the mouth and sags on her knees as Rochelle ends the round in similar fashion to the first; hammering leather onto Rossum's body.

Round 3:
Rochelle continues with the intimidating tactics, closes the American down and whips more hooks on the head but this time fails to connect properly and Emmy fights back much to the crowd's delight as she slams a series on the ribs herself, mauls the rack with couple of uppercuts and leans on the singer... Right hand counter from Wiseman stops her in the tracks though and lands clean on the mouth with Emmy suddenly rocked and dropping her arms.. Rochelle cross-hooks her nose, left hand on the temple AND DOWN GOES ROSSUM flat on her back!!! Wiseman reigns the close range and catches the American napping with Emmy's face already showing some bruises as she scrambles back onto her feet at seven. Wiseman pours in with more leather after the command as Rossum looks spooked, jumps to the ropes and manages to duck under a flying hook, rips a right hand on the jugs herself, tries to counter the singer from the side and whacks Rochelle to the back of the head with the English girl falling onto the ropes with her back exposed to Emmy. ref jumps in and gives the actress a warning and Rochelle looks VERY upset over that rabbit shot. However the bell allows the tempers to cool down a bit before action resumes.

Round 4:
Wiseman kept staring at her opponent during the interval and she really means business now - if she hadn't meant it before - but it's more serious now with the singer closing her foe down and raining punches to the body. Emmy fends off the onslaught, tries to maintain distance and swings few hooks herself but only grazes the flesh and Wiseman pings her with an overhand right on the nose. There's no blood but Emmy's face flashes more shades of red as the round goes by and Rochelle's single striking efforts keep her busy across the canvas and wear her down. Wiseman looks galant in her movements, springs those one hand shots with tremendous accuracy and snaps her opponent's head back on regular basis as Rossum's guard begins to crack. Final minute and Emmy slows down for good, can't prevent the singer from sqauring up to her and landing heavy leather around the elbows, Rochelle bends the American down and pummels back to the ropes. Truly familiar sight inside the Echo Arena with Rossum butt-in-ropes at the bell and Wiseman barks in anger after the referee pulls her back. She runs out of time to get the job done again.

Round 5:
Emmy looks to remain in mid-distance but Rochelle's footwork works in her favor and she closes the actress down, fakes a low jabbing combo, splits the mitts and lands another straight jab on the nose and Rossum's punch resistance seemingly doesn't make the cut against some of the English girl's presence. More jabs shatter the guard and Emmy is rooted to the spot in the middle of the ring with her footwork nowhere to be seen. Wiseman sends a big left hook on the temple, cracks a right just above the hip and another left from the top breaks Rossum's guard for good, catches the aching American on the nose ridge and SENDS HER DOWN ON HER KNEES!!! Wiseman raises both her arms in the air but Emmy gets up at eight, nasty cut on the nose emerges and the eyes don't look all that convincing anymore. Ref refuses to stop the contest though but Emmy is clearly on the verge of breaking down. Makes no difference to the singer as she whips more overhand shots on the face. Rossum leans forward, covers up but she's totally forgotten about her footwork and just stands there in the middle of the ring soaking up heavy leather. Wiseman rocks her again, pummels through the guard and snaps the head back a couple of times. Sheer strenght behind her shots push the American back to the ropes and Emmy's arms are slow to react, left hook slices her on the mouth and causes a loud yelp of pain to come out of her throat.. Right hand on the nose, left on the temple and Emmy's head drops between the shoulders, dark loose curls cover up the face as the battered actress SLIDES DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE and doesn't react to the count whatsoever. KO R5 Rochelle Wiseman in hard-pounding fashion!!!

Post-fight:
The former champion is back on track with an impressive punchout of Emmy Rossum and the American really took some heavy beating tonight. She is revived on her stool but one thinks she won't be looking in the mirror for quite a while. On the other hand Rochelle ignores her completely ever since the ref called the fight and stares at the chanting Liverpool crowd keeping her emotions in tact. Business-like approach from The Saturdays' most skilled fighter and she knows - as do most of the BBU fans and experts - that tonight's win only marks the first step of her comeback trail into the lightweight limelight. There's lot more at stake for Rochelle than wrecking a highly-touted upstart like Rossum.

With Alaina Huffman taking Karolina Kurkova to the cleaners earlier on the night, the two women unite post-fight with Wiseman praising the Canadian blonde's efforts. Rochelle demolished the Czech model herself back in 2011 in one of the best wins of her entire career and the rumour mill about Jennifer Hawkins' BBU tour suddenly takes a new twist with Huffman and Wiseman trying to get more details from BBU TV's lead reporter Denise van Outen. But as they disappear in the locker room, the Echo Arena is ready to witness the third fight of the night and the loud jeers indicate Manchester-born Hayley McQueen has made her way onto the ring already...
