Before: Both fighters used to being stars of their respective networks – Leighton on the CW with “Gossip Girl” and VanCamp on ABC with “Revenge”, so it's no surprise that the two are competitive with one another here in the stable. Thus far, EVC has done her part to remain above the fray and focus on her goals. One of which was to win the Bantamweight championship and that was already accomplished this year, but knowing that winning a championship isn't enough and that after losing it, the pressure from other fighters only increases, especially from fighters within your own stable. Leighton has made an unexpected rise through the ranks in the past few months taking down both of her other stablemates and now, looks to do the same with Emily, which is made abundantly clear building up to the match.
“I know Emily thinks of herself as something special because our stable did a bidding war on her and she's won the bantamweight championship, but trust me, she's not!” Leighton declares confidently, “I just love proving people wrong. Look at my history! Every time I ran into an obstacle on Gossip Girl or on the CW, which is a snake pit in there, I took them down. Every time people have underestimated me in this stable, like Minka and Elisha, I've dropped them! And now, when Em telling me I'm not ready for her. Guess what, Emily? I'm going to show you up and knock you down! I am going to be alpha and you're not standing in my way. Hell, you won't be standing at all!”
Emily coolly dismisses such talk from Meester, “I know Leighton took that personally, me telling me she isn't ready, but it wasn't. It was just me telling her the way it is. I'm not worried about being the alpha around here, which as recent bantamweight champ, is clearly me. No, I'm worried about being the best and that's going to be me when it's all said and done. I have a ton of respect for Leighton, who overcame a lot over at the CW, but when it comes to who is in charge, there won't be any question. I'm going to take her apart, but Leighton, don't take it personally! I'm just setting myself apart and sorry, but you're going to have to be an object lesson, alright?”
The tension between the two is palpable, staring each other down but touching gloves respectfully as they separate without any problems. Leighton in a navy blue bikini, high-cut, with matching gloves and hair in a fighting ponytail; VanCamp clad in a dark purple bikini and matching gloves - Emily's hair in a tight battle bun.
R1: Meester drives in quickly, pushing from her corner and eyes alight with anticipation at getting after VanCamp. Emily hangs back, using her height to her advantage, flicking out jabs to keep Leighton from getting in too close. Early in the round, Leighton's face whips backwards from the left jab and a right hook swivels her head. Meester's legs buckle as she staggers to the side, then DROPS TO ALL FOURS! Meester shaking her head back and forth as VanCamp stands over her, arms crossed and looking imperial, grinning even as Meester pushes back to her feet. It's a fast-paced round from this point as VanCamp presses hard to finish, lunging forward behind the jab as Meester keeps her guard up. Fighting back hard as she bobs and weaves, pouncing forward to deliver some clouting jabs to VanCamp's torso and then legging her way out of danger. Em grows more determined as the round progresses, eager to finish Meester off early and leaning forward behind a torrent of jabs, giving up her height in the process. Meester counter-punching well despite VanCamp's focused offense, ducking underneath the jabs and in the final minute, manages to clock Emily with a clean uppercut underneath VanCamp's outstretched arms. Emily rocks backwards and then VanCamp falls down to her butt with a thud as EVC is DROPPED! Meester bellows with enthusiasm as Leighton “the Beest” Meester looks to have scored another huge upset, but EVC rises to her feet just as the bell sounds. The round ends and the ref steps between them, the fans roaring for more after that action-filled first ends in a draw. Both fighters glaring coolly over at one another, then strutting back to their respective corners to prepare for the next round.
R2: EVC coldly furious after that last-second knockdown stole all of her momentum, but EVC nothing if not patient. Emily sticks to the game plan she set out, spitting out that jab, standing tall and using her height to dictate the terms of the contest as she buffets Meester around the head and shoulders. Em pushing Meester backwards from an organized stance, using her legs to keep up the pressure on Leighton. Meester boxing smart, trying to bob and position herself close, sending some hard-hitting jabs of her own to spank into VanCamp's torso. Meester, however, can't seem to penetrate Em's guard and Em delivers a shutout in response to that blistering first round. Leighton is unhurt, but remains frustrated at being unable to follow up on her knockdown.
R3: Unfortunately for Leighton, that first round knockdown is a thing of the past as EVC sticks to her plan and the script for the third is almost a mirror of the second. EVC's eyes narrow coolly as she keep sending leather spanking across Leighton's head and shoulders, then switching her assault down low to drill in towards Meester's torso. Meester still undaunted, coming forward to pound at EVC's chest and torso when the opportunity affords itself, but those are rare. Emily using her height to dictate the pace as Leighton's corner is collectively concerned after Em pitches another shut out with those rangy jabs just crashing into Leighton's body repeatedly. EVC very bossy through three.
R4: Meester, however, is not quite as concerned as she is angry about the previous rounds. Eager to get back on top, Leighton emerges from her corner and tries to establish tempo with a jab of her own. Meester doubles up with her jab with a steady one-two, seeking to back EVC up and although she doesn't connect with EVC's guard up, she is able to use this offensive output to maneuver in close. EVC's gloves keep her from her being hurt too much, but Leighton takes this moment to send some hard shots down to her opponent's ribcage. Emily gasps as she retaliates with some more clouting overhead shots up top on Meester, but Leighton remains disciplined throughout and responds with a shut out of her own.
R5: EVC pouncing forward to unleash a leggy assault, pumping out her fists in a energetic jab, coming forward to swarm Leighton along the ropes. Leighton using her own legs to position herself away from the ropes, using swift head movement to avoid the worst of the punishment as EVC tries to scuff up her face. But, Meester responding with feints, catching Emily off guard as she sends her mitts flying out towards her face, then quickly battering her along her abs and stuffing shots into her torso. Pumping out that double jab in a one-two combination that allows her to work in close, using her positioning to work in close and scoop at her tummy. EVC scores against Meester in a close round with her rangy jabs and footwork, but it's Meester who displays more discipline and surprisingly, wins the tactical battle. It's a bit of an eye opener for EVC as Meester wins the round and it's all tied up through five.
R6: Emily prides herself on being tactically superior in a contest and while she wasn't physically hurt last round as much, her pride certainly was. Emily responds fiercely this round as she picks up the pace and uses her height once again as her legs work to her advantage, pushing off that right leg to bully Leighton backwards. Leighton fighting back hard, spitting out some swift hooks of her own, but Emily keeps up the aggression by pasting Leighton across her face with some overhand jabs. Meester frustrated as she can't get inside this round and suffers a shutout as Em tries to snuff out Leighton's rally before it can really get any further momentum.
R7: EVC looking to impose control here, jabs shooting out towards Meester's face or ripping at her ribcage, showing off who is in charge. Leighton defiant, though, constantly pivoting slick around VanCamp and feinting, tricking EVC into giving up height as she pounds into blonde abs or clips across her cheek. Occasionally, Meester will get inside to pound at blonde chest or tummy, unhurt as she is pesky throughout. But, EVC keeps pumping out those jabs to rock Leighton and is the more aggressive fighter to take the round with her constant pressure on Leighton preventing her from gaining any kind of momentum.
R8: Meester a bit discouraged in round 8 as EVC demonstrates her tactical superiority yet again, with Leighton not able to get off like she wants. Emily prevents her attempts to do so with her swift, accurate jab pounding at her face. Leighton able to bob and slide around EVC to prevent herself from getting rocked, but under consistent pressure as VanCamp keeps thumping her around her head and shoulders. Forcing her to cover up, although she does have some sporadic and effective bursts of offense to body Emily back to the ropes. But, each uprising is shut down with clinical precision by EVC as she keeps those rangy jabs working Leighton over. Although Emily is firmly in command throughout the round, she seems content to box out the clock in what seems like a blatant attempt to humiliate her stablemate with yet another straight round to EVC.
R9: The last few rounds have had Leighton on the defensive, fighting back in spots under pressure from EVC, but now it's Leighton's turn to mount a late (perhaps too late) comeback as she sets things up with that double jab, pumping out her mitts once-twice and then just proving wily, slipping inside for points. VanCamp's timing is off this round, disrupted by the slick rolling and pivoting from Leighton, who keeps licking away at blonde torso in rip-roaring fashion. VanCamp tries to keep Meester at arm's length with her jabs and stuffing shots behind Meester's elbow, but it's Leighton who keeps working her way inside and scoring at will against EVC's chest and tummy. Leighton showing a lot of spunk late, chesting up against VanCamp as the bell rings.
R10: It's the final round between the two with a resurgent Meester bouncing from her corner, looking for a win. Emily, on the other hand, seems more interested in just denying her stablemate any chance at a win and pokes at Meester's guard with the jab, clouting at her gloves with overhand jabs and hooks. Meester rolling though, slipping through the side as Leighton keeps pouncing forward, forcing EVC to adjust constantly and taking those opportunities to get inside. Emily planting her leg and just licking at her brunette foe with repeated jabs and a rangy right uppercut that has Meester backing up. But, Meester staying busy and moving in quickly, using that double jab again to pump at EVC's face and then pounding in that extra shot into EVC's abs or torso. Getting inside effectively and proving tricky to hit, it's an impressive and fierce display from Leighton late to outwork EVC this round as this one goes to a decision. However, while Leighton wins the round, the fight itself goes to Emily via UD10!
After: The ref is actually forced to pull the two off of one another in order to award Emily VanCamp the victory as Leighton is still swiping away at Emily's abs back and forth, while VanCamp seeks to ring up Meester up top with some uppercuts and hooks towards her head. The ref does manage to separate the two of them finally, however. Quite a performance by both fighters and a surprisingly effective Meester in this fight with Emily VanCamp, showing off a great knowledge of tactics and an excellent boxing brain that gave VanCamp a lot of trouble, although neither fighter seriously hurt each other after that hard-hitting first round. More or less, it appeared they were testing each other out and trying to dictate to the other the terms of their rivalry, which should prove interesting. While Emily declared repeatedly that Meester wasn't ready, she has to privately admit that Leighton is proving herself among the bantam ranks and perhaps she's underestimated her stablemate. Does that mean she respects Meester? Absolutely not. That goes both ways, of course, with no respect shared between them.
Meester, obviously not pleased with the outcome, immediately demanding a rematch as she gets right into Emily's face. Emily, of course, cool and dismissive in victory. Leighton snarls at first, then smirks as she suddenly spins around and flips her ponytail up, delivering a stunning pony-tail lash a la Sarah Carter – right across the eyes. VanCamp is startled at first, eyes widening but her icy demeanor gives way to a sudden feral hiss, immediately reaching for that hated ponytail to yank at it as she tries to pull Meester down! The two of them shoving and pushing at one another as Meester can't return the favor with Em's blonde tresses in a battle bun, but refs step in as the two of them are pulled apart once again. Kicking and pushing, Leighton finally leaves the ring but continues to make her compelling case for a rematch to assembled reporters outside. In the ring, Emily confidently regains her composure after the ponytail-lash.
One of Em's corner people providing her with a red marker and a piece of paper upon which LEIGHTON MEESTER (GOSSIP GIRL) is written in bold block lettering, which is summarily crossed out with a grand flourish. Emily's REVENGE tour continues against other television shows and doesn't slow down, even against her own stablemate as Emily VanCamp can hardly disguise her satisfaction over her win, smiling, taunting Leighton mercilessly: “Hopefully that was a lesson learned for Leighton there. I just toyed with her throughout the match and that's what I do with girls who aren't ready for me! I'm not too worried about who is alpha in the stable – honestly, I'm above all of that and above the rest of my competition. I had no doubt I would handle Meester throughout the match and now she should know that she isn't ready to compete with E-V-C!”, pointing to herself with each syllable as the crowd chants along. Emily beaming as the crowd chants 'E-V-C', sweeping by a defiant and still angry Meester, off to enjoy her win in this competitive bout between them. It's clear that this is one chess game that is far from over between the two.
