Tess Valmore aka La Tessiere, La Caliente
COHAN/ ROBBIE Pre-fight, Cohan said she should fight any blonde she could beat and Robbie was one of them. That was a big mistake. Cohan got taken to woodshed. She was down in the first, the fourth and a final time in the sixth when she was counted out. Robbie took every round the fight lasted, Maybe Cohan should take up golf
BORTH/ HEARD Borth was trying to even her win/ loss record. She didn’t succeed. She did take the first, fifth and seventh rounds, but she took heavy punishment in the remaining rounds. She actually got the seventh round because Heard took the round off letting Borth wear herself out. In the eighth, Heard ripped into Borth beating her helpless and the fight was stopped. TKO eight, Heard
ARGON/ FONSECA A good spectator bout. Lots of action. Argon went down in the first but came back to take the second. That would be the last round Argon would take until the ninth. The rounds were action filled, but Fonseca did better. In the ninth, Argon started a comeback. She needed a KO to win the fight. She almost got it. Argon decked Fonseca late in the last round, but Fonseca beat the count and remained on her feet to get the decision
DUNST/ LOHAN As readers know, I refuse to watch a Lohan fight, preferring to be down in the bar discussing the Keystone pipeline with the bartender. I had to predict the fight and I did. I picked Lohan to win. After all Dunst had lost fourteen of her last fifteen fights. Imagine my surprise when I was informed the Dunst had left Lohan shattered on the canvas in the seventh. Is Lohan’s boxing career going the way of her acting career?
BJORLIN/ REGAN This is what the big girls are all about. Exciting slugging matches. Bjorlin came out swinging in the first, hurt Regan and the decked her. Regan managed to stabilize the fight in the second. In the third it was all Regan, who hurt Bjorlin with a left to the liver and then unloaded. Regan can hit. I know I have been there. It was all to much and Bjorlin went down for the count.
RIGHETTI/ NOLIN Did I tell you this is what the big girls are all about. Another slugging bout that was not going to a decision One minute into the first Righetti, floored Nolin. Nolin came back in the second putting Righetti on the canvas twice, fouling and almost winning the fight. The slugging continued in the third as did Nolin’s fouling. Righetti wore out Nolin’s torso in the fourth, In the fifth, Righetti’s body attack continued until Nolin was defenseless and the fight was stopped. I couldn’t have been happier
MENDES/ RICHARDS. I bit of a surprise. I went with Mendes based on Richards’ age and lack of recent activity. Boy did Richards prove me wrong. The first two rounds were rather lack luster following the two proceeding fights, but the third was a slugfest. One way. Richards hurt Mendes early in the round and then just dished out a vicious beating that had some calling for the referee to stop the fight. He finally did as Mendes was a total wreck
HOLT/ SILK If you guys think what you call a “rack” is an advantage. Talk to Silk. She won’t be wearing a bra for days. This was one good fight though. Silk put Holt on the canvas in the second. Then Holt went to work on Silk’s chest for the next three rounds and having Silk hurt. The sixth and seventh were great slugging rounds with Silk getting the better of it. The eighth was an absolute disaster for Silk as she was decked three times. Silk had nothing left and just managed to survive the last two rounds as Holt got the decision
TORV/ LARTER Wow. This was the best Anna Torv I have seen. Larter is a tough cookie, but Torv had no problem. Anna took the first two rounds and then in the third went on a savage body beating attack that had Larter helpless. The fight should have been stopped but wasn’t. It didn’t last much longer as Larter went down for the count hugging her “ravaged body”. A huge win for Torv. I can see the cover for Boxing World Magazines May edition now
WINSTEAD/ YUSTMAN Another fight destined not to go long. Yustman took the first having Winstead hurt. Winstead took the second and Yustman the third. In the fourth Winstead landed a left uppercut that had Yustman staggering. Winstead followed with a couple more uppercuts and that was enough to end Yustman’s night.
CYRUS/ CARTER I couldn’t believe it when this fight was made. A gross mismatch I thought. That’s not the way it turned out. Imagine my shock when Cyrus floored Carter the third and gave her a beating over the next three rounds. In a brutal sixth, Cyrus hurt Carter early, but then Carter turned the tables and had Cyrus groggy at the end of the round. Cyrus was determined to slug in the seventh. Once again the slugging went against her as Carter beat her into oblivion and the fight was stopped
KUNIS/ TISDALE The two alternated winning the first four rounds with Tisdale having the lead due to a fourth round knockdown. Kunis then took over taking the next three rounds and having Tisdale badly hurt at the end of the seventh. In the eighth Tisdale surprised Kunis by charging out and tackling Kunis in her corner. Tisdale, then unleashed, working Kunis’ body and then shifting to the chin until Kunis went down and was counted out.
BECKINSALE/ ACCOLA Definitely the best bantam fight of the night. Welters aren’t the only who slug. Beckinsale was down twice in the second. She went to the canvas again in the third. Kate had Accola in a swoon in the fourth but went down again in the sixth. By the ninth Beckinsale needed a KO to win. She got it, but she got it with a ghastly foul that turned the fight around and had Accola virtually helpless. Accola was then an easy target and Beckinsale worked her over until the referee had seen enough. It’s a shame this result was allowed to stand
BLUNT/ OLSEN I thought this was a rather tame fight through six, I had the fight even at that point. The fight picked up in the seventh as Olsen put Blunt down. In the eighth, Olsen went down and then Blunt hit the canvas with Olsen taking the round. Olsen took the last two to get the decision
MILLER/ M. WILLIAMS A typical Williams start as she charged out trapping Miller in her corner. It really didn’t pay off as Miller decked Williams late in the round. The third round was exciting as Miller went down early and Williams twice. The rest of the fight was highly competitive with close rounds, hard to score. At the end of the fight, I had no idea who had won. I had to wait for the judges, who declared Miller the winner. Those three knockdowns may have been the determining factor
WATSON/ STONE Another close, hard to score fight. There were no knockdowns. I had Stone slightly ahead at the end of five and even at the end of seven. Stone then took the eighth and ninth rounds. While Watson had a good tenth, but the eighth and ninth rounds were enough to give Stone the win
MOORE/ THERON How do you spell major destruction. Some spell it “disaster” I spell it “Moore/ Theron” OK that’s a little heavy, but Charlize didn’t last a minute after she was caught with a hook. Lets face it. Even the best get caught and in this case it happened to the best. Moore managed to get a first round TKO. In some 338 fights, it is only the second time Theron has been stopped in the first round. Even Moore expressed the opinion the fight was stopped too soon. Hopefully Charlize can recover to finish the Crusade challenge. Despite the loss, she is still ahead in the Crusade 4-3 with five to go. .
LAWRENCE/ C. Z. JONES A rematch. Jones won the first fight between the two. I doubt she will want a third bout. Lawrence took the first round and then put Jones on the canvas twice in the second. In the fourth Jennifer went to Jones’ body and arms with a constant barrage that Jones couldn’t escape and couldn’t handle. The referee stepped in and stopped the fight. Advise from Charlize probably helped Lawrence tonight, After Theron’s and Jennifer’s performances tonight. there is little doubt now, that the young Academy Award winner is now the queen of the stable. Miss Ginny has been pushing Lawrence constantly, while seldom mentioning the “goddess” Charlize’s spot in the Academy may be as Lawrence’s gate keeper
FOX/ JOHANNSON I said in my predictions that Johannson had been a disappointment in her career Some disagreed. Here is an example. Johannson took the first three rounds. She decked Fox in the ninth. She had a seven to two round with a knockdown lead going into the final round, All she had to do was run and stay away from Fox, Give away the round, Did she. No. The result was Fox landed a huge overhand right that ended the fight. Johannson turns victory into defeat
CHABERT/ K. BELL Chabert caught off to a good start taking the first round and then putting Bell on the canvas in the second. Bell then returned the favor by decking Chabert in the third. Bell would go down again in the fourth. In the fifth. Chabert went into to finish Bell and instead got her head handed to her in brutal slugfest. Bell had Chabert helpless at the end of the round. In the sixth, Chabert was an easy target as Bell landed a series of short chops that put an end to Chabert’s title hopes
DECESARE/ PARK In the last bantam title fight, Decesare who had struggled long and hard to get a title shot, won the title. In this fight history repeated, although it was Park who was the struggler and now champion Talk about a two part fight. Park took the first five rounds flooring Decesare in the second and third rounds. Decesare then came back to take the next five, decking Park twice in the sixth and once in the seventh. Unfortunately Decesare also went down in that round and that knockdown cost her the fight. Decesare took the last three rounds. The fight was declared a draw and went into extra rounds. Carmella took the eleventh, but Park came back to take the next two rounds and get the title. Combined with Torv’s win, this is a huge night for Front Street. I have to change my mind now. Boxing World’s May cover will feature Park, hands held high, wearing the belts.
PEREGRYM/ BIEL This was a surprising fight. Not that Missy won, but that the way she dominated the fight. After Jessica took the first round, she would not win another until the eighth. Biel also went down in the fourth and seventh. Peregrym took the ninth and had a huge lead. Peregrym made the same mistake Johannson did earlier. She didn’t stay away from Biel and slugging went against her. Biel knocked her down and had Missy out on her feet at the bell. Fortunately Missy did last to the bell and got the decision. With recent wins over Strahovski and now Biel, she should be in line for a title shot.
CUCUO/ MENOUNOS In 2011 Menounos was someone a promoter could get to fill out a card. Then she had a four fight win streak and got a title shot. She made the most of it. Although Menounos was put on the deck in the second, she heaped a lot of punishment on her opponent for the first five. In the sixth Cucuo put Menounos down again, but couldn’t finish her. Cucuo cam out to finish the job in the seventh, but the punching went against her as Menounos shelled the champs body until she was paralyzed Cucuo suffered more body work until she went down for the count. Menounos is now the champ of the Tiffany division |
