Torrey Devitto (Pretty Little Liars) versus Lauren Cohan (Vampire Diaries)
Fight #1
Before: The crowd is buzzing for the inaugural match of the event between the Pretty Little Liars and the Vampire Diaries. Between the four main cast members, the potential was there for a tiebreaker and thus, a fifth additional match was added between two recurring guest stars who were positively eager for some FCBA action. First, you had Lauren Cohan, who had a memorable arc on the Vampire Diaries, although had gone on to greater success on AMC's Walking Dead. On the opposing side, you had Torrey Devitto, who had appeared often on Pretty Little Liars as well as on the Vampire Diaries, as one of the links between the two series. In fact, Torrey was scheduled to be the referee on many of the night's matches, although her participation in this match fighting for the Pretty Little Liars called into question her neutrality. But, an agreement had been reached to allow her to referee, regardless of how this match turned out – but this match would be officiated by none other than Tammin Sursok, a cast member of the Pretty Little Liars, who stated she was also a fan of the Vampire Diaries in an attempt to show some neutrality between the two shows. Not a lot of animosity between these two, which is something that would definitely mark many of the other contests throughout the night, but some mutual respect between these two as they were both fighters looking to make their mark and support the shows that had given then an opportunity to do so.
Torrey Devitto in a pair of sky-blue bikini bottoms and a matching halter top with matching gloves – hair in a ponytail; Lauren wearing a light red bikini, halter-top style with matching gloves for this contest with hair short around her face.
R1: Torrey, in her pre-match interviews, talked about her preparations at length and it looks like they paid off. Lauren is determined as she's been winless in her first two matches, albeit against stiff competition, but Torrey emerges from her corner with surprising speed. Moving out quick with Torrey upbeat throughout the round, keeping Cohan backwards with some loose jabs that keep flicking out towards Lauren's chest and face. Touching Lauren up as she displays good footwork and moves around her foe, just scoring at will. Cohan managing some offense, but can't seem to get close as Torrey uses her length to keep punching at Lauren to force her backwards towards the ropes on defense for most of the round. It's a good display of smart, classy boxing throughout the first two minutes, but in the third minute, Lauren's powerful hooks start breaking through. Lauren cranking out some high hooks that manage to catch Torrey by surprise and more across her cheek to knock her down. Devitto is hit with a particularly hard hook that smashes into her face and sends her DOWN as she spills to the beach, falling down on the sand to all fours. Unable to rise immediately, as Torrey then falls down to the beach face-first. Sursok stepping in to keep Cohan from any further assault as Cohan beams, jogging back to a neutral corner. Torrey is shaking her head, sliding back up to her knees as her eyes a little unfocused as she makes her way to the ropes. Tammin steps to the side, allowing Lauren to continue the match once Devitto makes her way to her feet. Lauren pounces forward, eager to capitalize on the knockdown and clean up, just pounding away with a vicious series of hooks towards Torrey's head – right/left/right – clubbing away in determined fashion. Torrey unable to get her guard up in time as she slumps to the ropes, clearly in shock and offering up no defense as Lauren starts slipping in some short but hard uppercuts to tummy or chest to make Devitto's arms hug her body. A final hook across her cheek that has Torrey out on her feet forces Tammin to intervene and put a stop to the match to award the match to Lauren Cohan via TKO1!!
After: It's a surprising end to what was looking to be a great debut for Torrey Devitto and a fantastic start for the Pretty Little Liars, but instead first blood goes to the Vampire Diaries and Lauren Cohan gets her first win in the FCBA, though judging by the potential here, it won't be her last with a very strong result here for her. The roster of Pretty Little Punchers surrounds Torrey to protect her from any post-match humiliation and to check on her as well as she is slumped in her stool, needing to be revived as she blinks in confusion. Will she be able to referee the rest of the night? After a round like that, nobody is quite sure.
On the other hand, the cast of the Vampire Diaries mobs Lauren to congratulate her as she gets the stable war off to a great start for her former cast members! High fives and hugs are exchanged as it's a very positive atmosphere for Lauren's first win in the league and it couldn't come at a better time than at this high profile event. Lauren smiling and beaming, practically bursting with enthusiasm as she speaks to the assembled media representatives, “I've always known I could perform like that. Lots of credit to Torrey – she really used her body well to keep me at bay. But, I knew once I got to her, I could put her down! I'm impressed as hell that she got back up, but once I sensed I had an opportunity to close it out, I went all out to win it! I've had some great matches so far and this was my night to put it all together in a performance that shows people exactly how great I can be!” and indeed, if she can live up to this punching potential on a consistent basis, the rest of the bantam division should be concerned.
