TESS VALMORE
BELLASARIO/ HU Hu at the age of 45 decides go get into the ring with a opponent who is seventeen years younger and two inches taller. One wouldn’t expect the fight to go to well for Hu. It didn’t. It was, however, a good fight. Going into the final round, Hu had a five round to four lead along with two knockdowns. Bellasario needed a KO to win. Hu just needed to stay away. Hu didn’t do what she should have, and Bellasario did what the needed to do. Bellasario got the better of an exchange and Hu went down. She got up, but was then easy pickings for Bellasario who pounded Hu senseless and the fight was stopped
FREEMAN/ UPTON. Freeman is THE under-rated welter. Upton is...well,,.a model, nuff said. The was a real slugging match. Upton has to slug, because she can’t box. The crowd pleasing fight was going Freeman’s way through four. In the fifth, Upton poured the punishment on Freeman. It was a 10-8 round without a knockdown but Freeman survived. Upton couldn’t follow up in the sixth and instead Freeman had a field day decking Upton, and then beating her into a stupor until the referee called a halt to the fight.
KURYLENKO/ STRAHOVSKI The first upset of the night. A fight with an international flair. A Ukrainian vs an Aussie. Kurylenko is a fighter who has not lived up to her promise. Strahovski has made her mark in the FCBA, but is now approaching the over-rated status. In what seems to be a night of good fights, this was a great one. Yvonne was hurt in the second. Olga was down in the third. Strahovski was down in the fifth and again in the sixth. Strahovski was down again in the eighth. The fight went the distance, with Kurylenko dominating the last round to get the decision
DECESARE/ EVE Note to management. Don’t let Eve talk in pre-fight. Eve learned the hard way that the BBU is not the FCBA. Decesare dominated the fight. She took five of the first six rounds and then floored Eve in the ninth. Eve had a good eighth. Unfortunately a couple good rounds is not enough to win in the FCBA, She found out the hard way. Decesare by a decision
SKARSTEN/ O’KEEFE Skarsten had never won a fight. She has now, Tonight she looked like a top ten. She was pretty much in charge of the fight. She won seven of ten rounds. O’Keefe had one good round late and had Skarsten hurt but couldn’t follow up. Skarsten got the decision wide.
CHURCH/ OLSON Church is in heavy demand in the FCBA these days. If a fighter needs a win, all management has to do is call Church. I think that is what MIss Ginny did. Unfortunately, Church was too good, as hard as that is to believe. Church took the first three rounds. The fourth was a fun round in that both went down. In the fifth Olsen went down again, this time for the count. Miss Ginny says she sees a lot to build on. Is that a nice way of saying Olsen presently has little talent?
SCAGLIOTTI/ SCERBO As everyone knows Cassie is one of my good friends and I was rooting for her, so this was a hard fight to watch. Scagliotti hurt Scerbo in the first. Actually, I had to turn away in the second round as Scagliotti punched her around at will. The referee finally stepped in and stopped the fight. I just wished he would have done it sooner. I think Cassie should stop trying to fight opponents who are three inches taller.
TAYLOR/ YUSTMAN I warned y’all about Yustman’s right. When I tried to play tennis with her, she nearly killed me with those right hand serves. In this fight, those rights weren’t the finishing punch. It was a left that was set up by those slashing rights. The left ended the fight in the fourth, as Taylor was counted out without winning a round of the three plus that the fight lasted.
BLUNT/ DORMER. Was this an upset? I don’t know. Two English girls in the ring. This was Blunt’s third FCBA fight although she had fought in the BBU. This was Dormer’s first fight, period. Blunt came close to ending the fight in the second when she floored Dormer twice, but couldn’t put her away. Blunt evidently spent too much capital in the second and Dormer took over in the third. With the help of low blows that the referee didn’t see, she beat Blunt into a wreck and Blunt went down for the count. Dormer did herself no favors with the fouls. The FCBA is on notice. Another dirty fighter has arrived.
DECKER/ GOVICH Decker was out to silence critics concerning her past schedule. No matter that she had fought Theron, Cat Bell and Helfer in the past. t think critics will be heading for the hills. Govich is a recent champ. A large part of this fight was a little sloppy, Lots of holding and hitting and wrestling into the ropes. At the end of eight, the fight was even. It was anyone’s fight. Anyone turned out to be Decker, who took the ninth, and spent the tenth punching Govich silly. I think this can be called an upset. Maybe a mild upset, but an upset
LOKEN/ SOBIESKI Everyone knows the secret to beating Loken is to find her chin before she finds yours. Sobieski learned the hard way. She didn’t find Loken’s chin like so many others have, but Loken sure found Sobieski’s. In about two minutes, the fight was over. Sure the welters are the division where one punch does it. Happens all the time, but this loss is going to be costly to Leelee in terms of rankings and in-stable prestige.
LIVELY/ WINSTEAD. Winstead was making progress towards a title fight. The operating word is “was” As we say down South, she “ain’t no more” Lively was on an eight fight losing streak. Had been canned by Jeri’s and picked up by Mr Hawkeye. In her second fight under the Consortiums flag, as Miss Ginny said, Lively returned to her 2010 form. She made a joke of the fight decking Winstead twice in the first. She decked Winstead again in the second. We were disappointed that she had to push a downed Winstead flat with her foot and then slug her across the back. Winstead made it to her feet, but was in no shape to continue and the fight was stopped. Another of the nights upsets
DOBREV/ ACCOLA This was a two part fight. Part one, Accola takes command of the fight and takes five of the first six rounds. Part two, Accola lets the fight get away and loses the last four rounds including a decisive knockdown in the final round, That knockdown was enough to give Dobrev a very close decision
HARNOIS/ DUSHKU Had Beth won this fight, it would have been one of the upsets of the year. She didn’t win and thus no upset. Although there is sure thing in the FCBA, the outcome of the fight was pretty much ordained. Beth had some good moments, but never threatened Dushku, who with a vicious body attack in the fourth put Harnois down for the count
VANDERVOORT/ LILLY This may be the most surprising fight of the night. Not that Vandervoort won, but by the margin that she did. Lilly, who a few years ago, struck terror through the bantam division, suffered the worst loss of her career. She managed to floor Vandervoort in the eighth but that was the only round that she won as Vandervoort showed she is no one to fool around with. Vandervoort in a very wide decision
VAUGIER/ ALBA I well realize that hope reigns eternal in the FCBA. No one should retire. There is always the next fight to win. I imagine that is what Alba’ s management is saying. Alba has not had a good couple of years. She didn’t last one in her last fight, and she would have been better off if she didn’t last one in this fight. Vaugier took the first, hurt Alba in the second and floored her twice in the third. Vaugier got stunned in the fourth, but wisely danced her way out of trouble. She ended Alba’s night with a shot to the liver that put Alba down for the count
PALICKI/ BIEL I really like Adrianne, but like I have said, I never bet against Biel. I know Palicki has beaten Biel, but no one makes a habit of it. Palicki decked Biel in the second and came close to winning, but she couldn’t close the deal. Biel then took over. She won the next two rounds and ended the fight with a big left to Palicki’s face that put her down for the count. An impressive win for Jessica
BILSON/ HALE Let’s face it. Bilson is not the greatest fighter in the FCBA, but she was facing Hale, who is becoming Church’s replacement on who to call if a fighter needs a win. Actually, this was a fine fight. Hotly contested all the way to a draw in the tenth. Along the way, Hale wasted two chances to end the fight when she failed to put Bilson away in the sixth and ninth. The fight went into extra rounds. Bilson took the required two in succession by winning the eleventh and twelfth to get the decision
LAWRENCE/ RUAH Lawrence cementing our opinion that she is now definitely the Queen of the Academy as a fading Theron descends into the depths. It was not a pretty win, but win never the less. After having a three to two round lead at the end of five, Lawrence lost four straight rounds to the big brunette, Daniela entered the tenth with a six to three lead. Once again, all she needed to do was stay away and dance her way to a decision. it’s a tactic, that few fighters, if they know it, fail to do. In this case, it cost Ruah a win that could have pushed her into being close to a top ten ranking. In the tenth, as Ruah stayed in close, Lawrence wore her out to the body and then switched to her chin and Ruah was done. She went down for the count,
WILDE/ GREEN Wilde has just missed out on a title shot due to a flip of a coin. She served notice that her name should be high on the list for title contention. Wilde took the first, but in the second she got put on the canvas. Smartly she managed to get to her feet and then leg it around the ring denying Green a finishing run. In the third, Wilde simply took Green apart. She punched Green in every part of her body that was a legal target. Hard body work and chin checking were all too much for Green, who was totally helpless and the fight was called to a halt. Wilde by a TKO3
MUNN/ DANES I thought this fight would go to a decision, but I thought Danes would prevail. It was not to be. The highlight of the fight was a terrific third round, in which Danes went down twice and Munn once. After that round, Munn strung together a couple more rounds including flooring Danes once again in the fifth. Munn had a wide lead going into the final two rounds. Danes managed to win the final two rounds, but it wasn’t enough as Munn got the decision
ROMJIN/ THERON As Charlize is my favorite (she’s the hallmark for us blondes), this was a tough fight to watch. It has been apparent that Charlize can no longer compete with women bigger than her. Those days are long gone. Theron was doing OK through four, but you could feel doom in the air. Doom began in the fifth. In the sixth, the vicious beating started as Romjin poured on the punishment and Theron could barely make it back to her corner. The punishment increased in the seventh and I was calling for the referee to stop the fight before Theron was sent to the hospital, He finally ended the slaughter. Once again, I hope Miss Ginny takes note of this fight. Finish the Crusade. Charlize may win one of the four fights left as the series now stands tied at four, After let her go and retire as the greatest ever.
MOORE/ BLOODGOOD. For the Welterweight title. Bloodgood was on tonight. After Moore probably took the first round, she decked Moore in the second. Moore surged ahead again taking the third. That was Moore’s high water mark. Bloodgood took the fourth. In the fifth she simply devastated Moore, breaking her down to the body and finishing with a left to the forehead and a couple more to the body that left Moore a crying wreck The referee wisely stopped the fight
PORTMAN/ K. BELL For the flyweight title. This was a big fight for Portman. It was her 99th fight. She is a whisper away from the Hall Of Fame. She needed a win and she got it, but it was not easy. Portman rampaged through the first four rounds decking Bell in the third and fourth rounds. Bell finally got going and she floored Portman in the fifth and again in the seventh. Bell had a good eighth, but Portman closed the fight out by decking Bell in the ninth and dancing and jabbing her way to the win in the tenth. Portman brings the title home to HISC. It is her ninth unified flyweight title. I would say that is not too shabby. |
