BEFORE:

"This is the first time in my career that I haven't had to go over a year between fights," says a smiling Maggie. "If I just get work, I can compete with any girl in this division in any and all phases. Weigh in. Disrobe. And fight. And that includes Swan."

"It's kind of cute that Maggie actually thinks she can compete with me...in any facet of the FCBA...or life," says a smiling Serinda. "Poor Maggie. Her thinking is about to do a VERY abrupt 180."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "We're back at ringside and that's 'Lovefool' by The Cardigans, and here comes the lovely Maggie Grace..."

Tess: "I've said it before. She's 'Playboy' beautiful..."

McCarthy: "Fortunately YOU don't edit 'Playboy', Walmart, or you'd let ANYONE in..."

Tess: "You aren't seriously going to argue that MAGGIE GRACE isn't pretty enough..."

McCarthy: "Oh, maybe she could get in as a part of a 'Girls Of "Lost"' pictorial or something. Lilly would be the featured girl, of course, but Maggie could get a shot or two in. But her OWN pictorial? No WAY!"

O'Dell: "Maggie into the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal a baby blue and yellow striped number, and, if the audience reaction is any indication, she could definitely sell magazines. And speaking of girls who can fill out a bikini, that's 'Foxy Lady' by Jimi Hendrix and here comes 'The Hottest Player In The Game', Serinda G. Swan..."

McCarthy: "You mean 'The Hottest ACTIVE Player In The Game'! Now that I'M retired, I suppose she can make an argument..."

Tess: "Wonder what the 'G' stands for?"

McCarthy: "My SOURCES tell me it's Gertrude..."

Tess: "MY sources tell me YOUR sources are NUTS..."

McCarthy: "Watch it, Walmart..."

O'Dell: "Swan into the ring, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that red number she likes...and the crowd likes MORE..."

Tess: "Could she get in a 'Girls Of 'Breakout Kings' pictorial, Mac?"

O'Dell: "A-HEM! If we could cease trying to edit 'Playboy' and stick to broadcasting 'HBO's Boxing At The Asylum', which, by the way, is what we're PAID to do..."

McCarthy: "What the heck is 'Breakout Kings'?"

O'Dell: "Is this thing ON? The ladies are about ready to go. Tess on record as favoring Serinda. What do you think, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Well, Grace is still looking for her first FCBA win, so you have to favor Swan. But, Serinda's your typically overrated Dancing Hooker, so an upset wouldn't surprise me too much."

O'Dell: "There's the bell for the first, and we're underway. Maggie quickly to that left hand, popping a couple of jabs home. Serinda content to circle and feel the blonde out. Maggie moving well, getting to spots, landing, and sliding away."

McCarthy: "We've seen Grace here before and she's shown she can box. She has good feet and quick hands and she's using both to good effect right now."

O'Dell: "Serinda unhurried, willing to circle and let Maggie fight lead. Grance more than willing to oblige. Keeping the hands high. Patient. Finding her angle and landing, then using her legs."

Tess: "Swan doing almost nothing. Basically conceding this round to get a look at Grace. Good strategy, Mac?"

McCarthy: "We'll know it wasn't if she loses the fight by one point."

Tess: "And they PAY her for this kind of analysis..."

O'Dell: "Final seconds tick away and there's the bell ending a good first round for blonde beauty Maggie Grace."

McCarthy: "Always nice to get the 10-9 edge when you're the underdog."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with a sharp exchange! Both women landed good shots!"

Tess: "Swan's scouting mission is apparently over because there's another exchange!"

McCarthy: "Grace giving as good as she gets in these."

O'Dell: "No question. Maggie landing sharp stuff, but so is Serinda. Swan going body a bit now, pressuring Maggie, trying to back her up. Grace not having any, continues to hold canvas and fire back."

McCarthy: "We talked about how talented a boxer Maggie is, and she's showing that now."

O'Dell: "Swan turning the heat up in the final minute. Landing a good right hand that DID back Grace up. Maggie engaging in a fighting retreat, but Serinda beginning to assert control."

Tess: "Grace can definitely match Serinda's boxing skill, but matching her power is another thing all together. Serinda is a BIG strong lightweight and Maggie has a reputation of being somewhat underpowered for the weight."

O'Dell: "And Swan using that power to pull away in the final seconds of this one. There's the bell and the cards all even after two."

Tess: "19-19 with eight to go."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with ANOTHER sharp exchange! Grace got the better of that one. Maggie jabbing and circling now..."

McCarthy: "Grace using
movement with both her hands and her feet, angling up Swan, not allowing the brunette to square her up."

O'Dell: "Swan landing a good combination now. Grace fires back with a left upstairs and a hook to the body. Serinda responds with a flurry of her own. Lots of action in this frame, ladies!"

Tess: "Both of these fighters like to be busy and that's creating the kind of fight fans like to watch. Lots of leather being exchanged!"

McCarthy: "But nothing sloppy from either fighter. Both boxing well, defending well, moving well."

O'Dell: "And, again as we move into the final minute, it's Serinda turning up the heat. Swan starting to back the blonde up, work some body."

McCarthy: "Maggie not willing to give ground cheaply. Fighting hard for every inch of canvas, but Serinda's making her retreat."

O'Dell: "And, for the second round in a row, taking control and winning the points down the stretch. There's the bell, and that's two straight for Serinda."

Tess: "Swan in the lead 29-28 through three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round underway and the pattern has been set. The two fighters both busy, exchanging, resetting, exchanging again. Both slick and solid. Nothing sloppy from either fighter. Just good, solid boxing."

McCarthy: "The key thing here is how they're both setting up their punches. The left sets up the right, which maybe sets up another left. They're both putting punches together, not being limited to one and done. This is good stuff..."

Tess: "NOW I know why they pay her for analysis..."

O'Dell: "And, for the third round in a row, all very even through the first half and into the second. Neither fighter with much of an edge as we approach that third minute where Swan's been pressing the accelerator...AND GRACE ROCKS HER! OH, MAGGIE A SHORT LEFT HOOK!"

McCarthy: "Grace with a quick little slide step away from a left and just HAMMERED her own left home!"

O'Dell: "And now Grace all about the clean up. Backing Swan up and going to work, hooking head and body. Serinda covering up, backed to the ropes, where Maggie's getting plenty of work done."

McCarthy: "Grace wants the stoppage here, but, like we've seen the whole fight, nothing sloppy. Very solid, sound stuff. Scoring plenty while searching for the 'Off' switch..."

O'Dell: "Not going to find it. There's the bell ending the fourth, and it's Maggie Grace who rallies late to take it..."

Tess: "And knot up the cards at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth round begins with plenty of aggression from the blonde. Grace on offense here and it's SWAN giving ground now."

McCarthy: "Doesn't want to engage. Still not completely recovered from that last round. Smart strategy."

O'Dell: "Grace stalking behind that left jab. Swan circling, staying away from the ropes. Maggie not getting many opportunities to put punches together. Swan very quick and athletic. Legs may not be all the way back, but she has enough to stay out of trouble."

McCarthy: "Grace patient. Taking the opportunities she gets. Scoring when she can. Pocketing those points. Don't want to get overly aggressive now and walk into something."

O'Dell: "Serinda continuing to avoid engagements. Not doing very much offensively. Running clock while Maggie pursues."

McCarthy: "And Grace happy to take the points, Jenny."

O'Dell: "Ought to be, because there's the bell ending the fifth, the Maggie's back in the lead."

Tess: "48-47 for Grace. Anybody's fight at the halfway point."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth round begins with Maggie stalking again and this time Swan firing right back! Serinda steps to and lights up the blonde with a combination!"

McCarthy: "Swan's looking fully recovered now..."

O'Dell: "And she's backing Grace up under a hail of fire...MAGGIE SENT REELING WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Grace wobbly and in trouble. Short left to the head...RIGHT HAND AND DOWN GOES MAGGIE!"

McCarthy: "Left turned the head right into the right hand!"

O'Dell: "Referee's count at four. Five. Six. Maggie to her knees. Eight. And she's up at nine. Ref going to give her the mandatory and let this continue, but not for long if Swan has anything to say about it. Serinda right back at Grace, winging away, forcing Maggie into the ropes...AND DROPPING HER AGAIN WITH A LEFT HOOK! Grace down parallel to the ropes as Swan bounces to a neutral corner."

Tess: "Maggie's got to be wondering what's happening here..."

McCarthy: "Maggie may be wondering if they're making Christmas wreaths next week in Mrs. McGillicutty's third grade class...because she MAY think she's BACK there..."

O'Dell: "Or NOT. Grace pulling herself up on the ropes at six. Seven. On her feet at eight. Referee going to give her the count again. And he's going to let it continue. Swan immediately forward, forcing Grace against the ropes again. Maggie tying Serinda up now. Swan punching free. Grace hanging on and she's going to survive the round. There's the bell ending the sixth and this worm has turned, ladies."

Tess: "10-7 round. 57-55 Swan now. She's gone from behind to a two point lead in three minutes."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh begins with Swan on the hunt. Maggie not willing to give ground and here we go. A blistering trade sends the blonde back a step, a right hand from Swan backs her up again. Maggie fires back, but Serinda suppresses her with a vicious combination!"

McCarthy: "Give Grace credit for standing in there, but..."

O'Dell: "Swan's making her pay for it, Mac. Serinda squaring the blonde up again and again. Pounding her with heavy shot. Maggie firing back as best she can, but she's getting the worst of it here."

Tess: "Maggie has a reputation for wilting under pressure like this. Looks like she plans to change that tonight."

O'Dell: "She's not wilting, but she IS getting battered and rocked. Swan thumping away with both hands. Driving all before her with a blizzard of heavy fire. Maggie hanging in the best she can. Scoring when there's a brief respite, but Serinda quickly gets the guns going again, driving the blonde into the ropes and battering her to the bell!"

Tess: "Call me crazy, but that round was as impressive as the sixth. Grace may not have gone down, but Serinda issued a bell-to-bell beatdown."

McCarthy: "But, without the knockdowns, it's only going to go down as 10-9 on the cards. Making the score 67-64 with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Eighth round begins with MORE shelling from Serinda! Swan rocking Grace with a BIG right hand. Maggie stumbling backward, covering up. Serinda going to work on the body now, thumping at Maggie's flanks, lathering those lats, and punishing the ribs."

McCarthy: "Grace may be on her last legs here. Swan bodying her into the ropes and tenderizing her body."

O'Dell: "Maggie still game but in deep trouble as Swan works her way upstairs. Grace in a high guard as Serinda patiently bangs away. Referee keeping a close eye on things. Swan now back to the body, lands a HARD right to the head...and allows Grace to slip away to her left. Maggie a little wobbly but has to be glad to be off the ropes. Grace showing some movement again. Swan pursuing, but without much vigor. Using the left jab to keep Maggie moving, but not doing anything else."

McCarthy: "Swan not looking to close now. Going to coast to the shutout all Roy Jones-like."

O'Dell: "Serinda still popping lefts as the final seconds tick away. The eighth is history and Swan extends her lead."

Tess: "77-73 now, with two left."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Swan back on her bicycle to start the ninth. Maggie now doing the stalking as Serinda sticks and moves."

McCarthy: "Grace looking to engage, Jenny, but Swan wants none of it, and I don't blame her. She knows she's in control right now. No need to get in the trenches with Maggie."

Tess: "You aren't surprised by this, Mac? Most fighters would be going for the stoppage at this point, especially as close as Serinda was to finishing Maggie in those last three rounds..."

McCarthy: "It's not the normal strategy, but it's a sound one."

O'Dell: "Maggie Grace, for one, doesn't care for it. Grace trying to bring Swan to battle but unable to do so."

McCarthy: "Can't close with her. Swan's the quicker, more athletic girl anyway, and, after the work she put in on Maggie in those last few rounds, Grace's legs aren't exactly fresh at this point."

O'Dell: "Maggie continues to chase. Serinda continues to circle, staying away, refusing to engage. Final seconds tick off and it's a shutout for Grace in a round where almost nothing landed."

McCarthy: "Like I said, good strategy for Swan. She's still up 86-83 with one to go. Stay on her feet and the fight's hers."

ROUND TEN:

O'Dell: "Final round underway and again it's Maggie Grace in hot pursuit of Serinda Swan. Swan legging this one out, just like she did in the ninth. She's built that lead and she's not taking any chances with it."

Tess: "You aren't kidding. The last right she threw was in the middle of the eighth round. All jabs since then."

O'Dell: "And precious few of those in the ninth or here in the tenth. The brunette content to use her legs here, make Maggie chase. Grace still game in the final round. She's put up a good fight tonight, certainly good enough to get some more action in the FCBA..."

Tess: "Maybe even here at Asylum. Wiz likes Grace and he has a lot of lights he needs to get work for."

O'Dell: "And Grace HAS made Swan work, no question of that. And she continues to pursue in the closing seconds of the fight. Swan circling, snapping out the left. Maggie wings one last right that falls short and there's the bell. No hug, but a nice, respectful touch-'em-up between blonde and brunette as Grace takes the final frame, but there's no doubt who's going to win the fight. Decision being announced now and the final total is 96-94 for the winner by UD10, 'The Hottest Player In The Game', Serinda Swan!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I've got our winner, Serinda Swan, and Swanny, have to note you were pretty cautious early and late in this one..."

Serinda: "In a fight against a girl like Maggie, who's looking to claim a scalp, you need to be careful not to get into any wild firefights early. As for late, I had the fight won. There was no sense in taking chances."

Tess: "Big win for you?"

Serinda: "At Front Street, they're all big. With as many fighters as we have, there's not exactly much room for error."
