BEFORE: Mitchell getting the call-up after distinguishing herself on the cougar-circuit...serene, strong-bodied blonde eager to get after young Jessica. "I'm excited," Elizabeth says, trademark tranquility showing no sign of excitement whatsoever. "I've been dominating Carrie Ann Moss on sand, canvas and carpet; I've gotten work done on Kari Matchett - I feel prepped and ready for Pare. She thinks she walks on water just because she's on Mad Men, but it doesn't matter how many Emmies the show wins - she still has to get in the ring and prove she belongs there. She may belong somewhere, but I'm betting it's not with me in the opposite corner."

Pare upbeat - she's the favourite, the girl on-show, the one looking to take a strong position in the lightweight division with a good performance. "I want to win, and look good doing it," Pare grins in prefight. "There hasn't been a leggy brunette of my quality since Cat Bell, and don't forget: the only blonde who's ever given me trouble was the best fighter in boxing, Charlize Theron. Pare forms earmuff: Mitchell hooks the gut; pounds in righty above left hip; lays in close chest to chest with her hands low, bodying Pare upright, then lifting rangy lefts and rights up into brunette ribs. Loose-limbed, heavy-handed stuff from Mitchell - she's crowding Jess against the cables, laying in with hands at hips, then slopping the hurt to Jessi's body. Bell: icy-cool blonde pushes up off grumpy/frazzled brunette...Mitchell takes the first all-business.

R2: Mitchell methodical - getting after Jessica to consolidate the first round gains, but it's a measured, cagey assault. Liz doubling up the jab, then clinching, then walking Jessica to ropes, holding and hitting her brunette pesky right hands to belly until break. Liz in control with the left hand, keeping Jessica defensive, picking spots to step in close, getting strong blonde back into short right hands to chin, then smothering the receipt in clinch. Confident, professional shutout Elizabeth Mitchell - she's making Pare look a tyro through 2.

R3: Pare baring teeth, slugging hot: short right hands/chop-across lefts in horizontal plane catching Mitchell to chin, putting her wobbly-butt early. Liz hurt, hanging on for ref's break...she does a good job stalling Pare here, preventing brunette jailbreak. Blonde bogs brunette down, drawing warnings for holding, but down the stretch, 'Beth's legs're back and she's punching hard! Thudding left uppercuts to midsection have Jessica in a bad way late: Mitchell digging away with her right hand tight to cheek, weight on front (left) leg. Pare groaning, reaching to clinch: Mitchell scrubs-jug side to side, wipe-rejecting the grapple attempt...as Pare's stumbling away, Mitchell's walking her down with jabs to forehead and a CRISP right cross to chin at bell! Pare staring, wobbly-butt...Mitchell successfully battles back from a bad first minute, earning a draw. The eyes of Elizabeth Mitchell! Frosty glare blonde to brunette before Liz heads for her corner...Pare blinking back all doe-eyed, feeling the intimidation factor.

R4: Patient fighting by both women - wide stances, flat feet, heavy jabs setting up drifting right hands/sweeping hooks to body. Mirror image fighting - girls with right hands at cheeks while they work the left - Mitchell interrupting the rhythm with her crafty clinches, keeping the ref busy. Down the stretch, Pare bends in and down, kissing the right hand off 'Beth's chin...brunette finally gets into blonde legs, putting Liz wobbly butt! Mitchell wide-eyed, hurt, she ties up, but belligerent Pare walks her into ropes, pushes Mitchell's tummy back, then starts working body! Big, plowing rights and lefts - Mitchell's arms looped round Pare's head, holding her cheek to cheek, but not stopping the incoming...Jess slops away for points in the 4th.

R5: Bitter slugging as Pare's made a breakthrough/Mitchell fighting hard to re-establish that methodical stop-and-go pace. Girls punching, falling in, getting ref's breaks - all even through 2 minutes. Down the stretch, Liz at the apron walks Pare into a clever little swatting hook to chin...blonde ducks down low on follow through; puts left shoulder into Jessi's body to bump her back; clips her the pesky right uppercut and HOOKS the mouthpiece right off Jessica's teeth! PARE GOES DOWN! Jessica hooked to her buns - she's all blinking, sniveling, frazzled and reeling as she beats count shabby at bell.

R6: Hard-eyed Mitchell walking her brunette down methodical...it's Liz jabbing breasts and face; dropping in short rights to chin; hooking the breadbasket; tying up/walking Jessica to ropes for breaks. Pare grimly trying to compete, but her legs're shaky, face discouraged...she's looking sleepy in the clinches, getting bodied around if not out-and-out ragdolled. Sturdy Liz Mitchell consolidation round: she's piling up the points on Pare, breaking her down systematico through 6.

R7: Jessica shows heart of a champion, fighting back hot and desperate to deny blonde supremacy. Jess scoring with a short, swatting hook - palm-down aspect, elbow in close to hip as she's getting it onto Mitchell with torso-right twist. LIZ LOOKS GROGGY! Blonde eyes a little glassy as Mitchell gobbles hooks...strong legs holding her up early on, but Pare putting blonde wobbly-butt, starting to walk her down. Midway through, women fighting shoulder to shoulder, just dipping and twisting to put compact, swiping power onto one another...Pare clips that hook to chin again; jams a short right uppercut to chin, then hooks Mitchell's breasts as BETH GOES DOWN! Liz on butt-and-hands with back at ropes - HER turn to be all frazzled and stunned, pulling herself up for 8. Rest of the way a heartfelt beatdown, Pare to Mitchell - strong-backed brunette squaring away, lashing blonde head/shoulder/flanks as Mitchell shows swaying earmuff. Pare pumped as she skips away at bell - right hand held high, face furious en route to corner.

R8: Liz shows her composure: hurt last round, dominated for the first time, she comes back smart - jab-and-grabbing Pare like a pro. Jessica SO frustrated, wriggling in the grasp: strong blonde girl diligent about walking brunette to ropes, pinning her down for ref's breaks. Pare jabbing in spots, trying to initiate brawls...she's scuffing and buffetting her blonde, but can't win the initiative as crafty Mitchell thinks her way to points.

R9: Liz stepping in off her jab, looking to tie up: Pare tightens up stroke, fitting hook to chin in close, DROPPING BLONDE GIRL TO HER BUTT! Great collision-hook hammers Liz to right hip and hand in a fog...she's up at 8, blinking/shaking her head, but it's Pare on the warpath once again. Jessica strapping away like a champ, twisting side to side on her hips, hauling wide lefts and rights into Mitchell's hips and waistline. Liz keeping hands at temples, suffering to the body...she'll lay back into ropes to get off swipe-hook receipts; she'll dip forward, looking to bump a shoulder into Pare's ribs, but it's all Jessica. Clubbing brutality from excited young fighters - she's just slopping the hurt to Mitchell, beating the hips and flanks, clobbering her about the ears. Blonde sliding along ropes, looking distressed, but still alert and in control of herself. Down the stretch, Mitchell able to clinch for a string of ref's breaks, running the clock to bell.

R10: Jab and grab from Elizabeth Mitchell - subtle, crafty stuff taking advantage of Pare's impatience for battle. Blonde punishing pretty brunette face with pre-emptive jabs, tying up, then mauling in the clinch, walking Jess to ropes for breaks. Liz with a great swat-across short hook claiming Pare's breasts again and again...Jessica SO discouraged to be getting out-hit to rack late in the fight. Down the stretch, Mitchell shuts down a Pare rally with a series of workmanlike rights and lefts hoisted up into Jessica's breadbasket...brunette breathless, lolling on ropes, helpless to stop blonde from claiming jug with a few emphatic left hooks at bell. Comes back a CLOSE UD10 duke, Elizabeth Mitchell!

AFter: Mitchell vindicated, upsetting highly touted and beautiful Jessica Pare in what was supposed to be a Pare showcase. "I never got my due because of Jennifer Garner," Elizabeth shrugs in postfight. "I couldn't deliver wins against her, so I didn't get on TV much, and a lot of people don't know who I am as a result. But I took Jessica out back the woodshed tonight and showed her what I'm made of. I'm a good fighter. Sending a girl like this back to the drawing board is awesome, and it shows that I'm not just another cougar. I can beat a lot of girls in the FCBA, and hopefully I'll get the chance."
