The Spice Girls members of the Lioness Club complete the first half of the Latin Union stable war and it's a huge task ahead of Melanie Brown as she takes on fellow singer Laura Pausini having seen both Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell wrecked by the Mediterranean opposition in a matter of minutes. Pausini is all smiles as she heads down to the ring, also aware of the massive mental advantage of the Unioners as the crowd expects another wonderful showing from their favorites.

Laura doesn't look all that bothered by the slightly smaller opponent; indeed Mel B. last fought in December where she stopped Kym Marsh but has suffered some painful blowouts before that to Jennifer Metcalfe and Alesha Dixon. If there ever was time for the famous Girl Power, that's right here and right now as Laura threatens to make a mush out of Mel's tummy according to the local journalists and quite frankly there's nobody in Monte Carlo who thinks that Brown stands any chance against the Italian foe. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Pausini comes slowly out of her corner, drops her arms and teases Mel into some attacks as the light-hearted atmosphere seems to be spreading with the Spice Girl allegedly in no shape to cause the Italian any trouble but then the English woman jumps straight at her opponent and slams a right hook on her eye and a left uppercut on the jaw AND DOWN GOES PAUSINI in the middle of the ring... a hefty thump is heard becuase the crowd has gone silent and could only watch as the Italian singer drops hard on the canvas. Angry roar from Mel as she demands the fallen vixen to get up and Laura's up at four, perhaps too early to shrug off that shocking knockdown and the ref realizes that, tries to embrace her and escort back to her corner for a short break but Brown has other ideas, shoves the man to the side and thumps another series between the arms and Laura doesn't look like she knows what's going on as Mel ravages her rack with some heavy leather, bangs another uppercut on the jaw and the brunette's head drops onto her shoulders with Brown slamming more jabs on the body, punishing her chest and signing off the rampage with another uppercut that sends LAURA BACK ON THE CANVAS in another heavy knockdown... there's not a single noise to be heard in the crowd as the poor Italian vixen rolls onto her side and tries to get up, ref is lost for words too and delays the count, catches a glimpse of Mel who's all "Well, what are you WAITING for?" and there's the count finally up long after Pausini hit the deck, she's on all fours now but if this was anywhere else than the Latin Union turf, she'd be long gone... very slow count allows Laura to get back up at nine... have you ever seen anything like that? NINE? Mel laughs it off and rushes to finish the stricken rival off and pounds away at Laura's midriff, just demolishes the girl with some heavy leather, almost tries to pummel her out of the shiny outfit before switching up on the chin and snapping the head back... Pausini staggers back against the turnbuckles and gets reduced into a pulp with Mel B. working her like a training sack!!! Crowd still silent, some people can't handle this English juggernaut and begin to ache themselves as ref watches on too instead of stopping the fight. More jabs lump up Laura's face as she sinks down on her knees, probably unaware of her whereabouts anymore as Mel thumps another uppercut on the jaw, slips around the elbows, seemingly trying to hurt every single muscle in Laura's body... and THERE GOES THE TOWEL... coach Sophie Marceau has seen enough and quite frankly everyone else did likewise long time ago... Pausini's battered into a pulp and slides on the canvas semi-unconscious as Mel laughs out loud and points to Sophie indicating revenge on her fallen Spice Girl stablemates. The Latin Union coach nods back in approval and there isn't anything to add in wake of this tremendous one-round destruction of one of Mediterranean's biggest stars of female boxing. Post-fight:
Crowd still gobsmacked at the result and as Mel leaves the ring and makes obscene gestures towards Lea Seydoux and Cristina Scabbia in the first row, further up in the stands Clara Morgane already makes a note on her Blackberry, "Destroy that English cow!" Subdued reactions from the audience, still more concerned about Pausini's shape than anything else before the brutal reality kicks in, the Lioness Club have pulled one back in a frantic fashion and underestimating the Girl Power must have been Laura's biggest mistake of her BBU career. A rematch sometime later? Or will Clara Morgane defend Laura's pride instead? That's for another day to find out as Charlotte Church and ex Lioness Club member Elodie Frege make their way into the ring and now it's time for the visitors to high-five themselves as Laura is stretched off into the locker room, a chilling wake-up call for the local supporters.
