Ashley Benson (with Cassie Scerbo) versus Selena Gomez (with Vanessa Hudgens)
(Lookout words; Sim results)

BEFORE: This has been a highly anticipated match between two of the stars in the smash independent hit SPRING BREAKERS with Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson set to take on Disney star and singing sensation Selena Gomez. It should be an excellent contrast between the two as Selena Gomez was a graduate (with honors) from the Disney Fight Prep School while Ashley has honed her skills on the extremely competitive set of Pretty Little Liars. However, both of them have been pretty cordial towards one another leading up to this match.

However, their respective trainers – Vanessa Hudgens and Cassandra Scerbo – not so much. Both Selena and Ashley had been content to train in their respective facilities, though both had proven quite interesting. The Pretty Little Liars certainly approached Cassie with a healthy amount of wariness, especially in light of rumors that she might be joining their cast. By all reports, though Scerbo was quite professional and surprisingly enough there were no pranks that occurred, at least not towards the Pretty Little Liars. A large shipment of various ice cream flavors were sent to the Lookout! Boxing training facility mid-week and a note of “To Pudgy Hudgens – xoxo Cassie and the PLP” left no doubt as to who the sender was.

This of course made the newest recruit for Lookout! Boxing, Selena Gomez, work even harder with fellow Disney alumni, Vanessa Hudgens. Thus far, Selena had proven a natural addition to the roster, although mostly hung out with her fellow Disney stars. As such, Ashley Tisdale also stopped by to help as well and support her best friends. Fellow Lookout! flyweight Nina Dobrev came by too, but only seemingly to observe the latest addition to the roster. However, Nina did make a contribution by suggesting a retaliatory prank that sent several DVD box sets of the Vampire Diaries, a not so subtle reminder of the 'stable war' that had occurred between the two shows earlier that year. A note addressed “To Cassie and the Pretty Little Losers – Love from Lookout! Boxing” made it very clear who had sent it. Mild pranks to be sure, but they certainly raised the intensity of the already existing animosity leading up to the contest.

As a result of these and other minor incidents throughout the week, tensions were high on the day of the fight itself as both camps made sure they were well represented. Fellow SPRING BREAKERS star Rachel Korine was set to referee, despite a generous offer by Jessica Lowndes (of 90210 fame) to guest ref. This had been vetoed instantly by all parties involved, especially by Hudgens and Scerbo. Former Lookout! Boxing member Brenda Song was present, although she instantly got into an argument with Cassie Scerbo, as her integration into Bazz Fight Club had not been smooth to say the least. When Ashley Tisdale tried to intervene, Brenda ended up sparring with her too and when Vanessa stepped in, she and Cassie were unable to keep from shoving at one another. Both the Pretty Little Punchers and Lookout! had brought extra security to the event, who were in use early to separate the four flyweights although all four regained their composure quickly. Lowndes stood nearby, smirking.

The respective fighters, Gomez and Benson, also were nearby and stayed free of the minor brawl as each side made their apologies. Vanessa and Cassandra were able to give one another a very brief hug, while Ashley and Brenda were able to have a more genuine reconciliation. Selena and Scerbo were very happy to see one another, giving each other excited hugs as Cassie wished her former stable mate good luck in the match ahead. Cassie, of course, predicted in the fight that Ashley Benson would win, however. The rest of the Pretty Little Liars were present as Shay, Lucy and Troian were positioned nearby. Many observers reported seeing the cast of the Vampire Diaries around as well with Kat Graham, Candice Accola and Claire Holt present along with Nina Dobrev. Recent PLP trainer Danielle Fishel and friend (and flyweight champion) Hayden Panettiere were photographed. In the crowd, you could see several flyweights from HISC such as Michelle Williams, Kristin Kreuk, Emma Watson and Natalie Portman milling about as well as girls from IFFI such as Allison Scagliotti, Heather Hemmens and Sara Underwood. You could see O & E's Christina Ricci and Sarah Shahi, Medallion's Alexandra Chando or Ultimate's Kristen Bell and Annalynne McCord talking to the press leading up to the match. Other Disney stars like Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus were also seen around the crowd, with various stables from around the FCBA represented by their flyweight contingents this one had the potential to be incendiary to say the least.

But, after the initial confrontation, all parties involved remained relatively polite to one another or at the very least, stayed away from one another. Selena and Ashley both were very effusive in their pre-fight interviews in their predictions of victory and spoke about the competitive, but fun atmosphere on the set of SPRING BREAKERS. Benson and Gomez both talked about their on-set sparring, bullying, wrestling and boxing in free-wheeling fashion, though certainly differed on who came out on top. Today might go a long way towards confirming which account might be more accurate.

In a nod to the film, both fighters wore the outfits that they had popularized in so many movie posters across the world. Ashley wore a pink bikini with matching gloves – hair in a blonde battle bun; Selena wore a green bikini top with yellow shorts with green gloves – hair in a fighting ponytail. Both fighters exchanged hugs and touched gloves with Rachel Korine refereeing to ensure a clean fight between the two.

R1: Both fighters charge right towards the middle of the ring, eager to get this highly anticipated fight started. Selena appears limber and relaxed, using her legs and length to manuever around the ring swiftly, spitting out jabs up top. Setting up her right hand to keep pressuring Ashley, who seems spooked. Benson backpedaling, never able to get into a rhythm as that Disney-polish is on full display here. The fight takes place at midring as the two exchange shots, but Gomez consistently getting the better of those exchanges as she keeps peppering the blonde's face and upper chest repeatedly. Benson isn't hurt, but a little embarassed as she heads back to her corner while Selena struts over to hers after getting a shutout in the first.

R2: Ashley comes charging out from her corner, eager to get things off to a more aggressive and successful start. Benson pressures Gomez up the middle, eager to pound away with rights and lefts towards Selena's abs as she displays some effective offense early. Selena, though, using her legs to keep moving around the ring, circling and using some rangy jabs to keep Benson at bay. Gomez racking up the points down the stretch as she keeps peppering at Ashley, getting it down with her legs as she hops around the ring to keep Benson guessing and under control for a second straight round.

R3: It's another slick display of boxing from Gomez in the third as she puts her technical side to work here, Hopping around and hooking to Benson's torso and tummy, doubling her over but Ashley remains relatively unhurt. Strong blonde body sponging up the shots well, but she is definitely challenged by the speed and style shown by Selena here today. Ashley keeps up her guard well, managing to deliver some good counterpunching in spots, but Selena battering away at Benson, handing out some heavy hooks and jabs to prevent Benson from getting into any kind of rhythm. It's another shutout for Gomez as Selena is pulled off of her frustrated blonde opponent.

A little concern after a third straight round to Gomez in the Benson corner as Scerbo gives Benson some much-needed encouragement and talking-to. Gomez upbeat in her corner, beaming over at Ashley as she exchanges some tips and ideas with an equally excited Vanessa.

R4: Gomez peppering at blonde face with her left, forcing Benson to keep her guard up as she keeps pushing her backwards with that jab. Setting up for a big right hand that tags Benson across her cheek, sending her staggering towards the ropes as Ashley is clearly hurt. Gomez pouncing forward to finish her foe as her mitts are flying, pounding away at blonde bod as she targets tits and tummy to batter her butt-in-ropes. Benson providing stiff resistance as she keeps up her defenses, sponging up the hurt and fighting off of the ropes, belting away at her ribs and across her flank. Preventing Gomez from cleaning up on her, even as Selena takes another straight round.

Some distress from Benson, who gets a pep talk from Cassie as she points to some positives to take away from the round. By contrast, high fives in the Lookout! Corner as Vanessa and Selena are very upbeat. Tisdale even coming over to lend some encouragement as Hugens and Scerbo exchange glares across the ring.

R5: Gomez is still upbeat as she comes out for the fifth, but perhaps a little worn out from the punishing pace in the previous rounds or perhaps it's from the pep talk from Cassandra. Whatever the reason, it's a resurgent Benson who comes out swarming her brunette rival, gloves flying as she is able to push past Selena's defenses. Gomez trying to clinch, but Ashley sturdy and pushes her back to the ropes. Backing Selena up as she goes to work, just chugging away with some big girl hup-hup to punish her as it's Gomez's turn to sit butt-in-ropes. Selena slamming in some rights and lefts of her own to fight off of the ropes, but Benson is relentless as she bounces her gloves off of Selena's tummy and chest, stacking her up as she takes her first round of the contest in style. The ref has to pull Ashley off as she heads back to a much happy Cassandra in her corner, while it's Vanessa's turn to give a pep talk to Selena this time around. Benson takes this round wide and hopes that this can set the tone for a comeback.

R6: Gomez appears determined not to let that happen, however, as Selena swarms across the ring to pounce on Ashley from the opening bell. Benson eager to capitalize on a good round from the blonde, but Selena sidesteps the charge and hooks Ashley against her side, whacking away at her ribcage to solid effect. Doubling Benson over, Gomez is perky and pesky, picking Ashley apart as leather keeps spanking forward to crash against her cleavage, tummy and occasionally catching her between her defenses to smack right into her face. Gomez using her legs to maneuver counter-clockwise, spanking in her mitts along blonde flank, crashing in repeatedly to emphatically slam the door on any momentum Benson was hoping to build in this round. Great stuff from Selena as she displays good ring-presence to post another shutout and extend her lead. Benson a little discouraged, but Cassandra still positive and Vanessa whispering into Selena's ear, beaming as Selena is clearly excited at stopping blonde uprising for the moment.

R7: Benson rushes forward off of the ropes, eager to get off to a rolling start as she penetrates past Gomez's guard. Ashley sending her gloves forward, trying to make Selena back up towards her corner and Benson is battering her across her belly. Rachel warning Vanessa to back up as she steps away from the corner and Lowndes is all too eager to step in to ensure Hudgens keeps her distance. It's a heated exchange on the outside, but just as fierce on the inside as Benson is whacking away at brunette flank. For perhaps the first time in the match, it's Benson setting the tempo as she forces Selena to brawl as there are precious few opportunities this time around for Gomez to display that Disney-prep polish. Gomez brawls, her gloves flying forward to hammer with wild hooks against blonde ribcage, but Benson coming forward to keep pushing and punching. Stacking up Selena aganst the corner as she keeps clubbing away around her foe's head and shoulders, getting into a rhythm as the two engage in a fierce and sloppy exchange that has Benson on top and takes the round wide.

R8: Benson coming in fast, charging across the canvas as she stuffs shots immediately towards Gomez's abs and whacking away at her ribcage with big right hands. Gomez pitching forward, being rocked by the early body work as she doubles over, slumping forward against Benson who ragdolls her back against the ropes. Gomez is getting worked over against the ropes, suffering under an onslaught of blonde aggression. Selena keeping up her guard and bringing her defenses down to protect herself from the huge body work, trying to clinch, but Benson not having it as she keeps pumping in rights and lefts up the middle. However, that does leave a little opening up top as Benson tries to consolidate against the corner, Gomez displaying some tenacity as she manages to pick up Ashley via a right hook to her temple to send her staggering backwards. Ashley is hurt late as Benson is one determined blonde, but Gomez fights her off with some shots that send Benson backwards at the bell. Despite the late offense from Selena, this round was Benson's from start to almost-finish to give her another round, close, and a little momentum as the match continues. Definite encouragement and tips being swapped in both corners as Cassandra and Vanessa can't stop from glaring at each other, each trying to will their respective teammates to victory.

R9: Benson bouncing out of her corner, but running right into a focused Selena who is eager to get back to her brand of boxing rather than the brawling Benson has been favoring to good effect the last few rounds. Gomez getting off behind the jab, using her legs to pivot and push around Ashley, trying to crowd her to the ropes. Benson trying to circle clockwise to twist away from the pressure from Gomez, but Benson is hit by a stunning right hook from Selena that has her hurt. Staggering to the side as Gomez starts drilling her gloves forward into blonde belly, making Benson back off as she staggers towards the ropes. From there, Gomez batters the blonde and picks her apart, just boxing out the clock as she looks to extend her lead. Benson not going down easy, however, fighting back in spots when the opportunities present themselves, managing to whack away at brunette flank and body at times. But, it's Gomez who controls this round as she takes not only the round, but momentum away from Benson heading into the final round. Hudgens and Tisdale both giving Selena encouragement, knowing that the match is hers to win as they head into the tenth. Frenzied pep talks occur in each corner as the PLP corner knows there isn't any hope for a draw as Selena has won the majority of the rounds, so it's win big or go home.

R10: Ashley all-too aware of the stakes as she pounces forward on Gomez, who is pushed backwards towards the ropes. Gomez bobs back and forth along the ropes, picking up Benson on the inside, pumping her mitts forward against blonde belly, trying to maneuver herself off of the ropes. Benson seeking to smother her opponent against the ropes, making her take weight as it's very effective. Benson sending her gloves clubbing down, crashing into brunette ribs as she keeps up the pressure, trying to work her over and prevent any escape. Benson keeps packing in the punches with short, compact shots to ribcage and torso, then switching up top to lather her across Gomez' head and shoulders. Gomez covering up well, fighting off of the ropes as she keeps scrubbing shots across Benson's rack and flank, but unable to push herself off of the ropes. It's a furious trade between the two that goes right up to the bell and beyond as Rachel Korine is forced to step in between them, pulling the two of them apart. Benson is on top, still pounding away as Selena is smothered against the ropes, slumping a bit. However, Selena still fighting back desperately off of the apron as her determination ensures that while Benson takes the tenth, it's Selena Gomez who wins the fight via UD10!

AFTER: It's a jubilant corner for Lookout! Boxing this time around as Selena has her hand upraised in triumph for her inaugural victory with her new stable. Selena takes a moment to hug her friend, costar and referree Rachel Korine before using those same legs that just powered her to victory to carry her across the ring as she exchanges a huge hug with trainer and stablemate Vanessa Hudgens. Ashley Tisdale pushing past Hayden Panettiere and Brenda Song, both of whom squeal with outrage, to join in the victory celebration. All three of them are cheering and hugging, high fiving and whooping in the middle of the ring.

On the outside, the Vampire Diaries cast all applauds as the rest of the Pretty Little Punchers look on in disgust. Both sides taunt one another as security steps in to ensure it doesn't go any further, but Nina takes a moment before walking away to gaze at Selena with an appraising stare after she beat Ashley and glares at Benson coolly before sweeping away the rest of her cast. Jessica Lowndes appears happy looking over at Ashley, who is obviously devastated by the loss, but can't stand to stick around to watch Hudgens celebrate for a second longer, disappearing into the crowd after locking eyes with Vanessa in a cold glare. Tisdale and Hudgens step to the side for a moment, looking on the outside as they allow Selena a moment to address the press.

“What did I tell you?” Selena beams, hands upraised, “On the Spring Breakers set, they totally tried to bully me at the start of the shoot, but by the end of it, they certainly weren't targeting me anymore. Same thing with Disney Fight Prep – when I came out of that, I knew, I just knew I was going to be the biggest Disney starlet to ever come out of that. Girls like Lilo, Hilary, Brenda, Demi, Miley – they are all going to be lined up at my feet, right where they belong!” Although Selena doesn't mention Ashley or Brenda, it certainly draws some raised eyebrows and gaps of obvious surprise, especially with her next statement “All those who lay claim to the Disney throne will need to go through from me from now on, although my domain will expand to cover girls such as Ni..” as Ashley and Vanessa step in at this point, as it appears she was about to call out one of her own stablemates. Selena very excited over her win and she clearly could've gone on (and on), so perhaps for the best that her fellow Disney stars were able to step in following her big win tonight.

Ashley and Cassandra are preparing to leave the ring following their loss, heading out as they are approached by Selena and Vanessa. The girls of Lookout!, Pretty Little Punchers, Foxfire and Bazz are all on Defcon-4, but thankfully, the potential violence does not thankfully occur. Lucy Hale makes her way into the ring, getting right into the face of Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale, but is pulled away before things get out of control, though lingering glares ensue. Cassie, of course, exchanges hugs and congratulations with her former stablemate, Gomez, who is absolutely appreciative. Vanessa exchanges some brief words of encouragement and hugs with Benson, though it's brief given their history. Scerbo and Hudgens hug as Vanessa whispers into Cassie's ear, “In your face. Told you we'd win!” and Cassie responds, “Shut it Pudgens. You didn't win anything!” as the two hiss at one another, making plans for a match between them soon and very soon. Eventually, the two of them are pulled apart from their hug. As for the two contestants themselves, Selena and Ashley, they are extremely supportive as they trade handshakes and hugs, though are a little competitive still with one another as both make it clear this is far from over. Once everything calms down, though, it's fitting that together, Selena, Vanessa, Ashley and Rachel head off to enjoy a little Summer Break!!
