Before: Fight scheduled before a live studio audience on “Ripley’s Believe It or Not”—Packard getting a little showcase and revisiting an old rivalry. “We’re very competitive with one another,” Kelly says in preamble. “Very competitive—always have been—I’ve been Karo in marathons, fitness shows, and thankfully, in the ring, but she’s always very prepared for me. She’s always a challenge.” Wuhrer with soft dark curls, red thin strap sports bra, red high cut aerobics bottoms, Kelly in black string bikini top, black nylon jogging shorts—both gorls wear very light weight workout gloves for maximum crack.
During R1: Uncharacteristically aggressive Packard roars out of the blocks—takes the fight right to Wuhrer. Hard fists, sinewy bodies, bitter punching. Kelly crouching in close, rolling her shoulders to bits at Kari’s marble tummy—brisk patting smacks sounding out in rapid succession. Faces stretched tight—teeth clenched with effort whether giving or receiving. Packard just outworking Kari, bookending the exchanges, being first, but Wuhrer closes the round with a double pump right hand on toned gut that has Packard ashen-faced at the bell.
R2: Wuhrer emerges from, s close first as the fresher girl. Puts Kelly on the retreat with banging one-twos. Packard parrying punches redirecting Kari’s shots over either shoulder, nut midway through—Wuhrer gets close with a jamming hook on the ear, then bends her back into a shattering right uppercut, Packard stunned, sits stupidly into the ropes, head up, and takes a bashing left/right off her left eye as she swoons. Wuhrer grinning, slugging—Kelly forced to clinch or be bludgeoned to her knees. Packard hurt but brilliant in these dicey moments—tieing up Kari around the arms, getting low to shoulder the brunette in the hips—just nudging and bothering Wuhrer enough to disrupt the attack. Down the stretch, Packard gets a second wind, scorching Kari with a splatter-pattern of loose limbed lefts and rights stomach and head—Wuhrer staggering back as Kelly punches her way off the ropes, Both girls rattled at the bell—Kelly bulging badly under her left eye.
R3: Wuhrer enjoying the roughness of the contest—Kelly’s competitive, but Kari’s durability a factor as she comes out fresher once again. Packard of the defensive, fending with her jab rather than scoring, giving ground. Kari loading up right crosses, really extending on punches that just kiss the elusive target keeping Kelly in reverse, Final minute—Kari kisses a leaning right off the tip of Kelly’s chin, outing Packard momentarily wobbly butt—brunette able to step in and reef a crunching hook to the breadbasket to fold Packard into the ropes at the bell.
R4: Kelly adjusts, gets back to a more familiar boxing game plan. Packard pesky with the jab, just keeping it on Kari—Wuhrer keeps her hands up, waiting her turn. Kelly able to work in and out to either side—Kari stalking but not landing much as the blonde rights the ship.
R5: Packard forcing the tempo—jabbing to get close, crouching to load the springs, then really ripping at Wuhrer’s stomach muscle with churning shoulder action, Packard committing here—wide stance, face intense as she tears it up on Kari. Wuhrer starting to show signs of give—reaching to put her hands on Kelly, trying to slow the pace. Packard stepping back in good order, coming off the body to repeatedly land shocking lefts and rights to the brunette’s face—Kari is disarray, getting nailed as she reaches halfheartedly to clinch. Kelly backs ti then tropes, lands a concussive hook on the chin as Wuhrer falls in, then steps to the side while swatting hooks upside Wuhrer’s head to allow Kari to falter helplessly into the strands. Packard pounces—moving I from Kari’s left side, Packard skips her left mitt into the waistband at Wuhrer’s hip, anchoring the dazed brunette for a savage barrage of right hands. Kelly straining her lean body to land ringing punches onto Kari’s face--Wuhrer stunned, staring as blows crack against her left eye and cheek—she’s put, listing into the ropers but held fast by Kelly’s trunk tug. Re finally steps in to pull Packard off—Wuhrer busted open, eyes unfocused, swaying pathetically as Kelly thrusts her mitts in the air., Devastating TKO65, Kelly Packard.
After: Venomous punching performance sends Wuhrer to hospital—garners some criticism for Kelly who defends her actions thus: “Look, I was almost out myself. After the third round I told my corner—‘I have to go for it’ and we changed the plan right there. I don’t get paid to go easy on Kari Wuhrer and I’m not going to apologize for that.” Kari remarkably composed in her bedside comments, “I respect Kelly for doinmg what she had to do, but nothing’s forgotten. Or forgiven.”
