8 Round  Seniors Bout

Before: Vicki P one of the all time greats, but senior's circuit hasn't been kind - Principal leaving much of her ability behind her in countless ring wars. Basinger the opposite, late bloomer who has flourished in the 8 rounders and didn't have the kind of draining career VP had in her prime. Interesting match up between a puncher who can box, and a boxer who can punch - VP in pink tank style one piece, Kim in white.

During R1: Kim comes out to box, but VP looking to end it quickly gets on top, spreading her feet wide, turning into those Hearns hooks to Kim's belly, and pushing off the back foot to put hard right crosses into Basinger's jaw - Kim's hurt early. Basinger in trouble, covers up and stays square to the target, letting Vicki get off with batting combinations against her arms and ears. Principal realizes Kim's not ready to go and backs off, banging one twos up the middle to post the shutout. Basinger rocked, needs the break as Principal's corner is upbeat.

R2: Vicki still getting off first, reaches in with the long jab, right hand coiled at her chin. Basinger using more head movement, trying to counter, but not pulling the trigger enough, gives away the round to busier Principal this round.

R3: Vicki trying to pry open Basinger's guard with the jab, but Kim blocks, moves her head, and counters with clean hooks and little right uppercuts to the chest as Principal gets sloppy. Midway through the round, a swiping Basinger hook on the teeth turns Principal sideways, and she starts pushing her jab as Basinger finishes the stronger fighter.

R4: Kim now stepping forward confidently, slipping the jab, countering with that efficient hook, and rolling the right hand on top to bat Vicki's face side to side. Principal on her heels not effective, and defensive lapses now glaringly apparent as she lumps up on her pretty face.

R5: Bitter two way action as Vicki rediscovers the lanky hook/uppercut into the breadbasket, while Kim continues to chop up the red head's face with combinations. Down the stretch, Basinger stops punching as Vicki emerges dominant - Principal really sinking in the hook to the stomach as Basinger folds forward, teeth gritted.

R6: Shutout Basinger as she suddenly up tempos, circling VP and taking apart the lanky redhead with crisp combination punching. Exhaling "PAH PAH PAH" as she gets off, Kim bounces Vicki's head with 3 punch bursts, then steps away - Principal turning, looking discouraged, and taking. Down the stretch, Basinger begins bending into her punches, really setting down and moving Vicki with hard lefts and rights. At the bell, Principal looks glossy, dazed - Basinger hitting her too hard that round

R7: Kim keeps up the pressure, seeing those slender legs begin to stiffen, and she spends a minute on Principal's chest to break her will with pounding lefts and rights. VP staggering back, hands dropping - Basinger stepping in behind the jab to ring up Vicki's face with biting left/rights to the sides of the head. Accumulation piles up, and a double hook on the teeth smacks out Vicki's mouthpiece and drapes her glassy eyed on the ropes. Basinger moving in, heartlessly puts punches together on the helpless red head, lefts and rights bashing the face back and forth, and the ref steps in. TKO7 Kim Basinger as she struts away leaving a battered Vicki P lolling on the ropes.

After: Both girls out to hurt the other in a surprisingly Darwinistic brawl. Principal with the early advantage, but Basinger showing some effective D to survive, drained Vicki's tank then put it to her, pounding out the redhead with a sustained barrage in the 7th.
