BEFORE:

"Obviously, I'm in the front office now, so people are asking why I'm getting back in the ring," says Kate with a lovely smile. "Well, I've looked at this FCBA welterweight division and I don't see any girls in the rankings I can't beat. Maybe I need some work before I try on Righetti and Regan, but beyond those two, no one concerns me. And, now that I'm running Foxfire Atlantic, I finally have the platform I need to get consistent action. I'm still young enough. I'm in great shape. Someone has to challenge some of these girls. Why not now? Why not me?"

"Who knows what Kate's playing at," says a hard-eyed Leelee. "It's no secret she's got some kind of agenda here. Well, I used to be the only welterweight at Front Street. Now we have four girls and Ke$ha's going to make it five before long. I can't afford to lose this fight. So, MY agenda is pretty transparent. It involves leaving Kate sucking canvas."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and..."

McCarthy: "What the heck is THAT?"

Tess: "If you USED the tablet HBO provides us, you'd know that's 'Passenger' by Deftones..."

McCarthy: "It SOUNDS like they're tone deaf..."

Tess: "Not tone deaf, DEFTONES!"

McCarthy: "Shut it, Walmart!"

O'Dell: "THERE we go! Drink up, boys! And, drink in the lovely Kate Winslet on her way to the ring. Kate having the ropes held open by the Foxfire Atlantic corner people..."

McCarthy: "Ridiculous!"

Tess: "One of the perks of running the place, apparently..."

O'Dell: "Kate helped off with the robe to reveal a black number the crowd appreciates. And that's 'Uprising' by Muse you hear pounding over the sound system, and here comes 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

McCarthy: "This kid has started to grow on me..."

Tess: "And why IS that, Mac, for the fans who might not remember..."

McCarthy: "Because she's not a WHINER, that's why! When she fought Gena and lost, she didn't COMPLAIN like a lot of welterweights, crying about illegal tactics. She was stand up and gave Gena credit..."

Cassie: "Wow, Torv and now Sobieski. It won't be long until Mac likes ALL of the Front Street fighters, even Neve and Nicole..."

McCarthy: "Please hold your breath waiting for that, Scabbo. I wouldn't mind watching you turn BLUE..."

O'Dell: "Leelee into the ring, helped off with the robe by Neve and Jewel to reveal a black number of her own, and we're about ready to go. Tess on the record as favoring Sobieski. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Winslet doesn't have a single FCBA win. She's been in the ring in the UK a handful of times in the last couple of years, but hasn't fought in the FCBA since Torv beat her in 2010..."

Cassie: "The year Front Street joined the FCBA..."

McCarthy: "Don't REMIND me. So, as I was saying before I was so RUDELY interrupted, Sobieski is the pick."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess."

McCarthy: "Are we just playing that back? Is this a recording?"

O'Dell: "And, there's the bell for round one, Leelee right to that big left jab, working forward with it, Winslet working forward though, closing, and going to work on the body. Leelee responding in kind as the ladies work in close..."

McCarthy: "This is what Kate wants to do, this in close stuff. Sobieski can do this, but she'd be better served to work at range behind the jab rather than get in here and brawl with Kate."

O'Dell: "Winslet hooking the ribs while Leelee works herway upstairs. Kate tying up now, Sobieski shoves her off and digs body."

McCarthy: "Lot of slopping going on in there. Both girls working hard and scoring some, but a lot of tying up shoving and shouldering going on."

O'Dell: "Winslet shoving Leelee backward. Sobieski responds with a nice combination and Kate ties her up then hooks to the lats. Final seconds tick away and that's the end of the first. Fairly close, ladies..."

McCarthy: "Leelee's round, but it WAS close."

Cassie: "Agreed."

Tess: "So Sobieski gets the early 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Back in action in the second and we're right back to work on the inside. Kate using a high guard to work in and then going to work on Leelee's body. Sobieski. Sobieski more than willing to exchange in there. Ladies getting tangled frequently resulting in clinches and breaks from the referee."

McCarthy: "Kate still getting the terms she wants, able to close with Leelee."

Tess: "Like her or not, Kate's a very smart cookie, and she's fighting smart right now, not letting Leelee keep her on the end of that big left jab."

O'Dell: "Lots of ties, shoving, pushing, hooking of ribs during clinches. Nothing pretty about what's happening in there, but both girls are scoring."

McCarthy: "Kate's working these clinches like a champ, tying up Leelee's arms and keeping one of her own free to hook the body. She's already been warned once for holding and hitting, but, typical of British women named 'Kate', she's flouting the rules..."

Cassie: "What do you suppose the Vegas odds were that McCarthy knew the meaning of the word 'Flouting' let alone that she'd use it on the air?"

McCarthy: "Shut. It. SCABBO!"

O'Dell: "Waning seconds of the second, and the ladies tangled again. Referee breaks, exchange of right hands and there's the bell. Another close one, ladies..."

Tess: "Winslet, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Kate, yes. Close, but Kate marginally more effective."

Cassie: "Which means we're even at 19 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Right back to work in the third, and Sobieski not even trying to work the jab now, willing to close and thump leather with Kate..."

Tess: "Kate certainly big enough to fight welter, as she talked about pre-fight, though she's made light as well. There's been a lot of attention on the division lately, Mac. Do you think girls like Winslet and Beyonce, who appears ready to straddle both divisions now as well, can make an impact?"

McCarthy: "Well, there are fewer girls at welter than in the other divisions, so it makes sense for a girl like Kate, who's buried in the lightweight rankings, to try her luck. Is she going to compete with the top girls like Big Bad Gena Lee? No. But she can maybe win fights up there. Beyonce, too."

O'Dell: "Right now, Winslet's having an impact of the ribs of Leelee Sobieski, and Leelee's wearing out Kate's body as well. Again, lots of tangling and clinching, nothing pretty going on in there."

McCarthy: "This is becoming about imposing beef right now. Both of these girls big and strong and neither willing to be backed up by the other."

O'Dell: "And nobody IS backing up. Lots of wrestling and shoving in between the close in glove work. Sobieski working upstairs some, Kate concentrating on the body, and the two still banging leather to flesh at the bell."

Tess: "Leelee's round."

McCarthy: "Right again, Walmart."

Cassie: "29-28 Sobieski with three in the books."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round begins with Sobieski behind the left hand now, dialing in on it, squaring up Kate at range."

McCarthy: "Now, THIS is how I expected Leelee to fight this thing. She gets that jab going, works the right hand off it, Kate's going to have problems."

O'Dell: "And she's having them now. Leelee keeping Winslet at the end of that sledgehammer left..."

Cassie: "The Front Street Jab..."

McCarthy: "YOU put her up to that, DIDN'T you, Walmart?"

O'Dell: "Kate still with the hands high, looking to work in. Able to do it on occasion and land some body stuff. Leelee responding in kind until they tangle and tie and are separated by the referee. Then it's Sobieski back to the left hand."

McCarthy: "This is the thing that separates Leelee from some of the welters. She's not all power and slugging. She's a good boxer, can move the hands and feet very well. She can beat you on points and she can pick you apart from the outside, which is what she's doing to Kate right now."

O'Dell: "Indeed, she is. Sobieski fighting her fight for the first time tonight, piling up the points with the left hand. Dropping the odd right, but it's mostly the jab that wins Leelee the fourth going away. There's the bell."

Tess: "39-37 now, Sobieski's opened a bit of a lead."

ROUND FIVE

O'Dell: "Fifth round begins with Kate trying to work past Leelee's jab...AND SOBIESKI DROPS HER WITH A BOOMING RIGHT HAND!"

McCarthy: "HUGE punch! Winslet blown right to her back!"

O'Dell: "Sobieski wasting no time getting to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Six. Winslet to all fours. Pushing to her feet at eight. Referee going to give her the mandatory, then allow it to continue. Sobieski immediately to work, but Winslet quickly ties her up. Leelee shoves free, lands a left hook, only to be tied up again."

McCarthy: "Good strategy for Kate here. Buying some time to get the head clear and the legs back."

O'Dell: "Sobieski punching free, Kate tangling her up again and hooking body. Leelee shoving her off, trying to get some space, but Winslet crowding, creating the scenario we saw in the first three, phone booth work.

Cassie: "Kate leaning on Leelee, wrapping around the head, going body with the free hand. Sobieski firing back to the body herself. Lots of leather banging meat in there."

O'Dell: "And neither woman willing to take a backward step, like trading punches on the street corner, one for me and one for you to the bell!"

Tess: "Nice recovery by Kate, but Leelee's round 10-8, which puts her up 49-45 at the halfway point."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Bell sounds for the sixth and we go right back into that proverbial phone booth..."

Tess: "We're going to have to find another term to describe fights like these. There's a segment of the population that's never seen a phone booth..."

Cassie: "Good point..."

McCarthy: "Will you two stop BABBLING and let Jenny call the fight?"

O'Dell: "Kate and Leelee bodying up, banging ribs and lats with short hooks, pushing, bumping, shoving. Tying up, getting tangled up. Referee working hard to keep separating the pair only to watch them get tangled again."

McCarthy: "Nothing much landing clean in there, but both girls ARE scoring points. And both of them are going to want to spend some time in the tub tonight."

O'Dell: "Sobieski POUNDING the ribs with that left hand. Kate going midsection with a right, testing the abs of the blonde. Leelee wraps around Kate's head now, and the referee steps in to break them again. Final seconds see a brief exchange and another tie and there's the bell."

McCarthy: "Sobieski got more done, but they're right back to fighting Kate's fight."

Tess: "59-54 Leelee. Sobieski taking control after six."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Ladies grabbing their hard hats and lunch pails and going back to work in the seventh. No pretense from either side now, they're going to work at close quarters and see who comes out on top."

Tess: "Mac, how surprised are you that Leelee seems willing to fight Kate's fight at this point?"

McCarthy: "I wouldn't have expected it coming in, but, here's the thing, she's doing it and WINNING. No need to renegotiate terms when what's happening is working for you."

O'Dell: "And Leelee IS making it work, giving as good and better than she's getting in tight. Kate committed to banging and working body. Leelee willing to stand right there with her and pound back, shove, wrestle, clinch. As we've said, nothing pretty happening in there, but lots of leather is banging meat."

McCarthy: "And to show how sturdy these two are, no one starting to crumble under the constant pounding, Jenny. This would be eating into the legs of lots of girls, but not these two."

Tess: "And if Kate can stand and thump with a top ten welter, then maybe she CAN be a factor in the division."

O'Dell: "Closing seconds of the seventh now, and it's more of the same, Winslet and Sobieski banging away in close, tangled up yet again. Referee breaks and there's the bell. And another round for Leelee."

Cassie: "69-63 Sobieski with three to go. Kate's going to need something big."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Eighth round begins with Winslet pressuring again, opening up now, knowing she needs to put Sobieski on the canvas to win this thing. Leelee flurrying right back and we've got the most sustained action we've seen in the fight!"

McCarthy: "Winslet head hunting now, lands a good right hand. That's as good a punch as she's landed in the fight."

O'Dell: "Sobieski responding with a double-tap of that sledgehammer jab. Winslet a right hook, Leelee digs body with a left. Crowd getting into it as the two welters have at it."

Cassie: "Winslet ANOTHER good right hand!"

O'Dell: "Sobieski takes a step back. First backward step for either woman this fight. Kate pressing forward, letting the hands go...AND DOWN GOES WINSLET! SOBIESKI WITH A LEFT-RIGHT AND KATE DROPPED TO HER RIGHT SIDE! Winslet rolls to her back as Leelee heads to a neutral corner. Kate with an arm draped across her eyes as the referee's count reaches four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Winslet rolls to her belly. Pushes to all fours. Nine. TEN! She can't beat it. Kate can't get off her knees and it's over! The winner by KO8 is 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

McCarthy: "Let's check the replay on that knockout. Watch Kate step forward and here comes the left jab. BANG, right in the face. And here comes the right. BOOM! Chin music. Look at the head swivel and the knees give out. Brutal combination from Sobieski!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Leelee Sobieski, and, Leelee, some folks had to be wondering, as this fight went on, why you were in there banging with Kate instead of working behind your jab..."

Leelee: "Well, I've got this reputation as a welter who likes to box. And I CAN box, unlike some welters, but I can trade leather, too, and just as well as anyone in the division."

Tess: "A lot of the pundits are wondering if Kate can be a factor at welter..."

Leelee: "She's big and strong enough. If she wants to and she's willing to put in the work, I don't see why not. She's not beating ME, but there's a lot of that going around."
