BEFORE: "I've said all along that I am to Maria what she is to Laura Vandervoort," a confident Missy tells press in prefight. "I'm too strong, too physical. I'm an elite lightweight; Maria's a hard-working over-achiever who's had good wins against middling competition. I expect to win; I should be the favourite, and I'm not shying away from that. If Maria can go the distance with me working on her every step of the way? I'll be very surprised."

Maria smirking, matching Missy's confidence with her own. "Missy better get ready to be SHOCKED!" Maria chuckles at podium. "She may think of herself as the bully in this fight, but I'll wade right into her and you watch: this girl will wilt. I know a quitter when I see one: Laura quit, so will Missy. Believe it!"

Maria in metallic pink bikini; white gloves; hair in light brown curls. Missy in pale blue sport top; navy bikini bottoms; white gloves; long black hair in scrappy high pony with bangs framing face.

During R1: Maria wades into Missy as promising, lifting rising lefts and rights into Peregrym's ribcage. Missy fades the pressure, sliding back in her stance...she walks Maria into a clean, tugging hook to chin - DROPPING CHAMPION TO HER FACE! Crowd roaring - looks like Maria's out...she pushes up off her chest, beats the count, reeling into drunkenly into ropes at 9. Maria nodding she's good to ref: Missy marches in...Peregrym stooping, jabbing Maria's chest from crouch while Maria's issuing jab-receipts, missing over Missy's upperback. Missy marks her range; rockets over the top via looping right hand: CRASHING blast to cheek swivels Maria's head, knocks her back into ropes, drops her to all fours! Champ shaking her head, fighting off another knockdown...she's swaying in the wind, but rallying off the deck! Missy patient on follow-up again...stooping low while jabbing up at Maria's chest, keeping weight on back (right) leg, avoiding Maria's receipts, then leaning forward into shocking right hands, pounding at Menounos up top. Maria's curvy legs hold her up, but OH the humanity...Missy P beats hell out of Maria, pinning her down with the jab, ringing her up righty to bell.

R2: Maria comes out swinging! Menounos visibly reduced, but she wades in, digs a right hand hefty underneath Missy's left breast; hooks Missy's tummy...Peregrym forced to grit teeth, dig in, and answer. Brutal hammer and tongs as girls lean forward from strong set stances, each hoisting rising lefts and rights into offending torso; each reaching forward to push at one another's arms to reset. Wicked, strapping stuff goes both ways for two minutes, but down the stretch, Maria's face betrays her pain, her thighs and backside shuddering as her body breaks down...she can't hold her canvas as Missy slugs her way forward. Final minute all about Maria covering up butt-in-ropes: Missy pushing on Maria to prep, then beating her ringing, batting body blows, the arms shivering upon clanging contact with the Menounos torso. Bell: Missy seething, stomping back to her corner all pumped, ponytail tossing...Maria hugging battered ribs, wincing and cringing as she limps into port.

R3: Maria in a bad way, trying to jab Missy off as Peregrym's surging forward. Missy's jab touching at the left side of Maria's chin, guiding champ to ropes; swinging right POUNDS face, loosening up Maria's knees, leaving her destitute. MARIA WON'T PUNK! Menounos shabby-legged, weight on her heels, face groggy, but she's lifting punches off her hips, trying to fit Missy's chin for uppercuts. Peregrym fresher, more alert...she's slipping the shots from a flat-footed stance, pumping her jab to Maria's breasts to set distance...measuring her...measuring her, then...RIGHT HAND, MISSY P! Peregrym timing her blast to pre-empt a rangy Maria right uppercut...crashing chin-check tilts Maria's right shoulder into ropes, leaving her out on her feet, left side presented to Missy. Peregrym dukes at chest, stepping in close off Maria's left buttock...left hook bites belly, cramping Maria up; TIGHT right uppercut carves outside-in, clipping Maria's chin from the oblique angle and DOWN GOES DOUBLE-M! Menounos imploding straight down, eventually sprawling on her belly, right side parallel to ropes...Missy looks things over with one brutal glance, then strides away the KO3 victrix and NEW lightweight champ!

AFTER: Missy makes good on her promises and predictions, taking the fight right to Maria Menounos and blowing doors clean off the Greek Goddess. "Yeah, it feels great," Missy says as she hoists heavy gold-and-leather straps. "Demolishing Maria is so awesome - that's the best thing. I didn't want to be life and death with her, because I KNEW she couldn't stand in with me. I wanted to prove that if she came to me, she'd get her buns kicked, and that's what happened. I took the title in emphatic fashion, and that's what I was looking for!"
