TESS VALMORE
CLARK/ MASLANY This was a very entertaining fight. The two alternated winning the first four rounds with the edge going to Clark because of second round knockdown. Clark lengthened her lead by taking the fifth. Maslany closed the gap with a sixth round knockdown. Clark won round seven with a late rally that left Maslany hurt. Maslany had not recovered by time the eighth round started and Clark took it to her ending the fight with an over hand right. Clark by a KO8
CARTER/ PAQUIN On paper this looked like a big mismatch. In reality, it was a big mismatch. Paquin was on the defensive from the opening bell and not doing all that well defending. Carter pretty much had her way ending the fight in the final minute of the round with a right hand that sent Paquin down for the count. Mr Archer thinks we should see more of Paquin. I think she should retire now while she still has her senses
MUNN/ PERABO In pre-fight, Munn said nobody believed Perabo could win his fight. Well I didn’t think she could win it and neither did that most astute observer of the FCBA, Miss Ginny. Perabo did mange to take the first round. In the second, Munn had Perabo staggering, but couldn’t finish her. The third started off as a slugging match which ended up going Munn’s way. A series of left and right chops left Perabo helpless and the fight was stopped
DORMER/ JANUARY JONES Let’s face it. Jones is a not a very good fighter. Dormer looks to be the new Gena Lee Nolin. She knows how to foul, when to foul and she is proud of it, She fouled Jones in the first round upsetting Jone’s defense. Dormer proceeded to take the next three rounds. Jones finally got on the card by winning the fifth. That called for another foul which Dormer delivered in the sixth. Jone’s highlight came in the eighth when she floored Dormer, but she didn’t finish her. Dormer then took the last two rounds to get a wide decision
PARE/ SULLIVAN If you like a fight with a lot of knockdowns, this was your kind of fight. Pare floored Sullivan in the first. Sullivan decked Pare in the second. Sullivan would go down in the third. Sullivan would kiss the canvas twice in the fourth and once in the fifth. She went down only once in the fifth because she didn’t get up. Pare wins four knockdowns to one.
PEREGRYM/ NICHOLS I actually thought this would be the fight of the night. It just might have been the shortest fight of the night. Peregrym was going quite well for a minute and a half. Then Nichols caught with a right uppercut and followed with a right uppercut to the chin, a left and a right to the temple that put Peregrym down for the count. I must say that Miss Ginny got this fight right and I got it wrong, the only one I got wrong on the card. Miss Ginny gets to see all these shows, She has broadcast TV, cable and satellite, while I got rabbit ears. You see she has the advantage. That’s my claim and I am sticking to it.
STRAHOVSKY/ J. CARPENTER. Strahovski really need a win here. I will grant you that there is no sure thing in the FCBA. however this paring was pretty close to a sure thing. Carpenter had only one fight in three years and that was to Strahovski and she lost that one. This was a excellent fight, if not a close one. Carpenter took only three rounds while Strahovski took seven and had a knockdown. Strahovski got a wide decision. I saw that Carpenter was not pleased with the verdict. Really? How could she have ever thought she was winning? |
