The once so intimidating Geri Halliwell has suffered couple of terrible defeats earlier this year and while losing to the highly touted Jade Ewen didn't come as a surprise a follow up punchout at the hands of Cristina Scabbia enabled BBU fans & pundits to question the ex-Spice Girl's current skills. Has the ship sailed for Halliwell? The Cardiff Challenge might provide the final answer as she takes on brunette model Danielle Lineker who knocked out Jessica Jane Clement in her sole bout this year.

A Welsh native, Lineker understandably wins the crowd support but Halliwell earns a solid ovation herself and tries to dwarf her foe mentally during the introductions, stares at her with visible disdain while Danielle's face is a stone mask, showing no emotions whatsoever. Perhaps she realizes that a potential win tonight will be the biggest of her BBU career?

Round 1:
Geri's up early on her rival and jabs to the tummy, bounces off the rack as she slices Danielle's mitts and pours in with more venom, outworks the model in the opening exchange and clips her jaw forcing back to the ropes. Lineker shows some quick footwork though and circles away but can only defend herself against a spirited charge from the redhead; Geri whacks her around the elbows and tries to close down again but eats an overhand right on the jaw and moans in pain as Danielle rips into her chest, rocks the singer's breasts and catches a respite with Halliwell stepping back. Both girls circle around each other thereafter and work the single hand without much success before Geri mounts another challenge, squares up to the brunette and catches her on the navel, looks to connect with the chest again but overhand response nails her on the jaw and stops in her tracks as Lineker throws a flurry of shots on the head but can't break Halliwell's guard before the bell anymore.

Round 2:
Another determined charge from Halliwell who rips into Lineker's guts early, leans on her but the brunette ignores the midsection damage, cracks a left hook on the temple and lands a quick uppercut on the jaw wobbling the redhead and stopping her attacks. Danielle with more strikes over the top, rocks Geri's head back & forth and makes her moan in pain but keeps sending the leather against the cheeks and reddens them on the minute mark as Halliwell struggles for pace & agility, can't escape from her rival's reach and stumbles to the side, drops her arms and as she raises her head gets nailed on the nose with a right hook, a follow up from the left skims off the hairline but GERI HEADS FOR THE CANVAS anyway, lands on her knees and just shakes her head as Danielle gives her a lenghty stare with a very serious look on her face. Halliwell's up at six and jumps after the brunette even before the command, Lineker has that covered, ducks away from the singer's hooking combo and counters from the side, cracks another right hook on the temple and now slices the mitts with ease, bounces off the redhead's mouth and shows superior skills in close range, keeps throwing the leather on the head as Geri gets pummelled around the ring and now just circles back in avoidance, manages to escape getting trapped on the ropes but Lineker makes her look very sluggish and out of shape through six minutes.

Round 3:
Danielle in confident mode, steps up to the redhead and throws another flurry of punches as Geri can't stay away in mid-distance but doesn't want to either, eager to make up for that knockdown but Lineker just slices her mitts and nails on the jaw, snaps the head back and tames any challenge from the redhead on the spot, goes around the elbows for a change and peppers her ribcage, just staggers the older vixen in the middle of the ring and Geri has no reply. She tries to duck under Lineker's efforts but gets her gloves slammed apart on a repeated basis now and the brunette gives her more bruises, punishes the cheeks and makes her moan, switches low again and whips on the ribcage as Halliwell sinks on her knees and wobbles back to the ropes. Furious leap from Lineker who drills the mitts apart again, lands a heavy jab on the nose and Geri screams out, bounces off the ropes straight into a cross-hooking combo that bashes her on the cheeks and nose again... HALLIWELL CRASHES FLAT ON HER FACE as a result of cover-like moves from the glamour model but Danielle still refuses to show any sign of emotions, struts back to her corner and just observes as Geri climbs to all fours at five and back upright at eight but sporting heavy facial bruising. She nods back to the referee who gives her the benefit of the doubt, a less experienced fight could have been stopped right here but the Cardiff Arena gets to see more action with Danielle trapping the redhead on the ropes for good and Geri's hanging for her life, eats more ribcage pounding and just sags back, allows Lineker to beat her up and sign off the round with vicious uppercuts on the rack and it's a massive roar around Cardiff at the bell with the local favorite threatening to beat the living daylights out of one of the most recognizeable women in BBU!

Round 4:
Geri has beaten two knockdowns already but enters the fourth visibly affected and endures another leather maulling as Danielle fakes a low approach, switches high and slams more jabs against the jaw, rocks the redhead on the spot and just lays into her in the middle of the ring, goes back to the midriff assault and as Halliwell offers nothing in response and only covers up, it's a field day for the model who thoroughly bashes her in the opening minute, shatters her ribcage, bounces off the chest and cracks another uppercut on the jaw to leave Geri moaning her guts out, left hook follow up on the temple serves as a mercy shot with Halliwell dropping her arms and out on her feet... SHE TUMBLES TO HER SIDE WITH EYES CLOSED and she's out of here.... The upset is complete in the most brutal way possible... KO4 Danielle Lineker!!!

AFTER: Massive joy inside the Cardiff Arena but Danielle somehow keeps it strictly business just like she was beating former champions all her life. There's more concern for the fallen redhead among the pundits who immediately jump to conclussion that Halliwell's elite career might well be over after tonight's brutal defeat. Denise van Outen leads the critics: "No way Geri can recover from that. The Scabbia hiccup turned into a disease and it's not even about what happened against Jade Ewen either. She has simply lost her spark and might revert into beating random journeyowmen from now on. That's not the way her career should end but looks like she's got no choice; Lineker tore her apart tonight!"

Meanwhile as Halliwell gets stretched away to the locker room, Danielle grabs the announcer's mic and thanks the crowd for their support. And than hints at her plans: "I saw how Sylvie van der Vaart brutalized Tina O'Brien there in the end and let me tell you all, I will do the same to Sylvie if she wants a piece of me. And I bet she does. We don't get the following of the so-called big celebrities like, dare I say, the woman whom I just wrecked minutes before but I think we can start a really good rivalry, Sylvie and I, and I know we can make it happen. I really want to punish her and she looks like she won't take personal offence for much longer too. How about it Dutch girl, are you ready?"

Sylvie was relaxing in the bar during Danielle's fight and only gets told about the challenge several minutes after it was made but shows no surprise given their earlier encounter in the locker room and as Rosie Whiteman and Zoe Salmon make their way to the ring, Denise van Outen confirms on the air that the Dutch blonde has accepted Danielle's offer and both glamour models now enjoy a drink together discussing the all-important details.

Final result: Danielle Lineker def. Geri Halliwell KO4.
