ROUND OF 8:

Lynda Carter vs Victoria Principal

Carter exposed in the 80s by the smaller Vicky P in fights that Lynda should have won—Principal still knows how to get it done against the big woman. Elbows, thumbs, chugging low blows—Vicky gets mean, brawls the soft-hearted Carter into submission (UD10)

Markie Post vs Wendie Malick

Markie bangs away over Malick’s extended left hand, rocking Wendy with rights all night long. Malick afraid to punch with Markie, tries to push her off and gets bombarded. Dropped in the 6^th and 7^th for her trouble.

Sandahl Bergman vs Theresa Russell

Theresa too plump and slow at this point—Bergman chops her uip with straight combinations from outside, stopping Russell after 5 one-sided rounds.

Pam Grier vs Anjelica Huston

Pam showing a lot of respect for broadshouldered Huston, women grind away cheek to cheek, bludgeoning each other senseless nwith clipping licks inside., Grier walking Huston to the ropes in the final few stanzas clubs Huston into stupor, bodying the brunette against the ropes for the duke.

Victoria Principal vs Markie Post

Post often a spoiler in Vicky’s hey-day, Victoria determined not to let the big blonde do it to her again. KO3 Markie Post in stunning fashion—she hurts the smaller woman with blockbuster right hands early and never looks back. Principal hurt at the open, struggles through on shot legs to finish up devastated on her face after a monster beat down from a remorseless Post.

Sandahl Bergman vs Pam Grier

Sandahl really the most impressive fighter in the tournament thus far—wheels come off against Grier as Pam works out of thr wrap, gets her body on Bergman and turns the fight into a sweatshop. Sandajhl can’t get off the ropes, complains of holding and hitting but in the end, Grier edges the dancer with a crafty workmanlike duke.

SEMI FINALS:

Markie Post vs Pam Grier

Post the KO leader of the tournament., gets into a cagey power punching duel with the master as both girls work out of crouches, crossed arms, looking to time the other for hurt. Grier wins a series of crucial exchanges in the middle rounds—Markie just missing, Pam just connecting as they slug side to side in close confines—Grier bangs out a close decision over a demoralized Post.

Final: Anticipated rematch between Pam Grier and Jessica Lange—full wrote up at a later date (4/7/02).
