Before: Senior's tour exposure a form of redemption for Pam Grier - she's being seen by more people now than in the rest of her career combined. "Is Pam the best fighter in history?" Asks one FCBA historian, "There's a hard core fanatical following that insists that's the case. But the fact is, it has always been difficult for the B actress to claim supremacy in these matters and Grier's achievments are shuttered behind a veil of questionable decisions against her, missed opportunities and blatant avoidance. Grier fought during the jet set era, but was never really a part of that scene. When Raquel Welch was fighting Claudia Cardinale in St. Tropez - nobody cared, or even KNEW that Grier was sweating it out against a real hard woman in a Chicago gym somewhere." Pam rampaging through the senior tournament with forward momentum and a big right hand - but that might not get it done against well prepared Lange. "Lange's got that gunboat jab and drilling right hand," notes one senior circuit pundit, "anyone who walks straight in on Jessica is going to pay and Pam might not have any other option." Lange's done it before - it'll take 8 rounds of disciplined execution to do it again. Grier in severe black, low cut tank suit with tapered sides - Jessica in red low cut tank suit.

During R1: Lange's read the book, taking the exam this round. Jessi with the right hand at her lips, right elbow in tight, left slightly lower and banging out jabs as she steps forward - everything straight, up the middle. Pam crossing her arms, trying to weave the jab and catch Lange with wide lefts or rights out of the bob - but Lange's compensating. Jessica getting off, then giving Pam a hard double palm shove in the shoulders, or getting her hands on Pam to sidestep and turn her - Grier not getting traction as the blonde pulls away. Down the stretch, Pam walking in eats bashing jabs to her forehead, then a drilling right between the eyes and is rejected back on her heels. Grier staggered at the bell, walking very deliberately back to her corner.

R2: Second verse same as the first. Lange prepping Pam with piston jabs - even when they aren't connecting - Jessica's keeping it out there, controlling distance. Pam trying to bob and weave in but Lange tracking her well with the stick and POUNDING that straight right hand between the eyes with heartless accuracy. Rhythm of the fight is Grier coming in, getting touched with jabs, eating a hard right hand off her forehead and stopping, allowing Jessica to palm up to push or turn. Final minute, Lange drops another of those sensational whalloping rights to the eyebrow of Grier, sending the big brunette stumping back on her heels. Lightning bolt gash over Grier's left eye as that tender skin starts to breaks down.

R3: Pam's still coming - Lange's execution starts to drift this round. Grier able to come out of her crouch and clap Lange across the teeth with a wide hook, finally getting inside the blonde's jab this round and backing Jessica up. Fight wanders to the ropes - girls set up in a ready position of sorts: Pam with her head in Jessica's chest, hands on Jessica's hips - Lange leaning into the ropes, hands cupping Pam's ears, controlling the big woman's head. Grier with desultory swatting and cuffing of Jessica's belly mound, tries to come off it with deadly wide clubs up top - but Lange's blocking and riding it out uptop. Lange giving up her body to survive on the ropes - but ugly action favours aggressor Pam.

R4: Lange immediately to the ropes - women assume the same ready position with Pam heavy on top. Grier nice and relaxed, just touching Lange in the stomach, keeping her head on the blonde's chest, suddenly reefing hard to ribs or head with either hand. Lange defending everything upstairs, but getting worked over in the torso. At the bell, Jessica's flushed - Pam just softening her girl up with methodical work.

R5: Girls adopt the ready position - Lange riding out the fight on the ropes, Grier controlling the hips and chest of her opponent and racking up the points. Lange doing a little counterpunching at least this round - she'll dip her left shoulder and shove a little uppercut into Pam's mammoth breasts, then resume her clasp on the big woman's ears. Grier just keeps her position, moves her shoulders and hands, occasionally loading up to take a little extra out of Jessica for the next round.

R6: Lange starting to break down - she's clinching up head and right arm on Grier, putting her own head in close to Pam's as Grier bulls her into the ropes. Jessica not punching enough to win this fight - Pam not exactly setting punch stat records herself, but she's trying - fighting through the swamp to get at the meat. Down the stretch, Grier struggles to unsheath her right arm from Lange's grip, then plunges it back in over the blonde's heart with fantastic results. Jessica sobbing aloud, falling in immediately to clinch - Pam gets underneath her and hurls her back into the ropes, ragdolling Lange at the bell.

R7: Pam coming forward, arms crossed, beating Jessica about the arms and chest as the blonde retreats to the ropes and looks to dig in. Grier pressing in to the chest, but she's busier this round, taking bludgeoning hacks at Lange's biceps to beat down the defence. Jessica grimacing, hurt by everything that's touching her and Grier's finally getting through to the blonde's tousled head. Pam working Marciano like in front of Jessica - Grier rotating her torso, pulling slobberknocking lefts and rights out of the crouch, bashing away to the shoulders and head as Lange catches clean for the first time in the fight. Midway through - a booming left on the chin has Jessica staring, Pam shifting her hips and bending into a crashing overhand right to the face, rocking Lange's head over the top rope then pitching her forward in a heap. Ref doesn't bother to count - KO7 Pam Grier.

After: Lange systematically dismantled and destroyed in this fight - Pam just too determined to lose. Jessica able to exploit Grier's bad legs early on, but blonde didn't have 8 rounds in her tonight - bad beating has some wondering whether Lange's in a position to continue what could be an increasingly dangerous career.
