8 Round Actor's Studio Bout

Before: First time ever for celeb boxing at the Actor's Studio. New curriculum offers boxing classes as frank admission that celeb boxing is a fact of life for new up and coming actresses, and the show offers one of the few venues where Oscar level actresses can fight in respectful surroundings. Fought on stage in a Spartan ring before the master's class - Lange in conservative powder blue bra and panties, Roberts in pink. 8 round time limit.

During R1: Roberts bodying up immediately, holding Jessica by the shoulder, cheek to cheek inside and slugging the short right hand to the pit of the stomach. Strange looking knockdown quickly develops as Lange gets a sick/pouty expression, simply standing in and taking the body shots, then slowly slipping to one knee, out of breath. She rises and a diligent Roberts bodies up again, left hand on the shoulder, heads in tight together, Julia pounding the right hand into the stomach as she walks Lange to the ropes. Big girls lay on the ropes, Lange trying to dig back into Roberts' body in a boa constrictor first.

R2: Lange wants to stand outside and trade, but Roberts once again reaches for the blonde and pulls her close. Roberts using the hand on shoulder to move Lange around, as well as hold her steady for the persistent right hands to the body and bra. Lange soaking it up, finishes the round with her wide, white back against the ropes, legs jiggling as Roberts pounds her gut to the bell.

R3: Lange swatting Robert's pesky left hand down, turns into short right hands on the inside, banging the chin and breasts of Roberts as the blonde takes the initiative. Now it's Lange holding Roberts about the waist, and turning her shoulder into tight right hands to the body as the women lean in with their head. Roberts soaking up Lange's power for a change as Jessica grinds out the round.

R4: Plodding rhythm resumes - both girls can box, but they've fallen into a flat footed, straight up inside slogging pattern. All Roberts this round, who changes up a little by tugging Lange forward into the right uppercut to the chops. Roberts keeping her right hands very short, just flexing the punch with the shoulder and hips to wear away at the older blonde. Uppercuts have Lange hurting at the bell as she clinches for a break.

R5: Julia having her way with the blonde, bodies up, holds with the left, and strokes Lange's jaw with curling short right hands to put Jessica wobbly butt in the first minute. Lange looking sleepy, hurting, tries to lay her head against Robert to minimize the angle, but Julia is walking the big blonde around, and methodically clubbing her out of this fight with the digging right hands to head and body. Round ends with Julia pushing Jessica to the ropes - Roberts chin on Jessica's shoulder, brunette staring out into the audience as she pounds her fist into Lange's pudgy gut to the bell.

R6: Both girls holding with the left and turning into drifting right hands to the chest and chin inside. Banging give and take takes a withering toll over the first two minutes, and Roberts begins to break form down the stretch. Looking to disengage for the first time, Roberts give Lange the chance to step into a pounding right hand to the sternum, turning the shoulder perfectly, and Roberts peels away to drop to all fours with a grimace of pain on her face.

R7: Women working hard inside, rubbing foreheads, and its Lange chugging away with both hands to beat Roberts to the punch. Lange twisting into right uppercuts to the solar plexus and chest, has Julia tremble bodied, but Roberts gets on the board late with banging right hands to the waistline.

R8: A sweat soaked, mouth breathing Julia Roberts bodies up on a similarly spent Jessica Lange to walk the blonde around the ring and hand out a workmanlike beating from bell to bell. Lange laying in with Julia, groaning and gritting her teeth as Julia digs into her stomach with the persistent right hand. Julia controlling the opponent, holding and hitting effectively, grinds out the unanimous decision as the women hug after the bell.

After: Roberts received by warm applause, goes on to give the interview segment of the show, while Lange is sent back to her hotel. Julia fighting like a big woman for one of the few times in her career, wore Jessica down and used her up in a grueling war of attrition.
