BEFORE:

"I've fought Campbell before," says Jewel with a hint of a smile. "And I've BEATEN her before. The only difference is, tonight, I'll do it on the big stage."

"Staite and I have a long history," says a hard-eyed Neve. "We've...gotten together...many times on the Vancouver fight scene. On the carpet. In the ring. And, I'm not saying I'm undefeated, but I've won a LOT more than I've lost."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Getting ready for the third fight of the evening, and..."

McCarthy: "What is THAT noise?"

Cassie: "That would be 'The Ballad of Serenity' by Sonny Rhodes..."

Tess: "ALSO known as the theme from the television show 'Firefly'."

O'Dell: "In which, of coursen Jewel Staite starred..."

Cassie: "Don't you do ANY prep for these broadcasts?"

McCarthy: "I don't NEED to do prep! All I have to do is tap into the VAST library of boxing knowledge stored right up here in my HEAD..."

Cassie: "Glad to hear there's SOMETHING stored up there..."

Tess: "Wait for it..."

McCarthy: "Shut it, Scabbo!"

Tess: "And THERE it is..."

O'Dell: "And there Jewel Staite is, climbing into the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal a violet number she fills out nicely..."

McCarthy: "She's going to win one thing tonight, the disrobe..."

O'Dell: "And that's 'Bodies' by Drowning Pool and the crowd popping for Hall of Famer Neve Campbell, who's on her way to the ring..."

McCarthy: "She's a Hall of Famer like I'm an ASTRONAUT..."

Tess: "No, she's a Hall of Famer like Buzz Aldrin is an astronaut. She IS one..."

McCarthy: "You shut it, too, Walmart!"

O'Dell: "Drink up boys as Neve climbs into the ring to be helped off with the robe by Jewel Kilcher and Britney Spears..."

Cassie: "Good thing Jewel Kilcher isn't fighting Jewel Staite. Mac's head would explode..."

McCarthy: "Your FACE is going to explode when my FIST hits it!"

O'Dell: "Now, calm down, Mac..."

Cassie: "No, let her go. HBO has 'Sharknado' all ready in case we get pulled off the air..."

McCarthy: "What??? No WAY will I allow that piece of garbage to be shown to MY fans..."

Cassie: "Who you subjected to 'Dirty Love'. Not that any of them actually went to see it, since it made, like, $12..."

McCarthy: "It made $58, 116!"

Cassie: "'Sharknado' made four times that in one weekend. AFTER it had already aired on TV. AND we're doing a sequel. I haven't seen any ads for 'Dirty Love 2' around, have you, Tess?"

McCarthy: "Hey...that's right. We were SUPPOSED to do a SEQUEL! SIRI, CALL MY AGENT!"

Tess: "Ok, who wants to tell her she fired him earlier in the show?"

O'Dell: "IF we could get back to boxing, Neve helped off with the robe to reveal the familiar black number she prefers and the ladies are about ready. Tess on record as favoring Neve. What about you, Mac?"

McCarthy: "This may be Staite's first FCBA fight, but she's fought plenty on other circuits. She can beat Campbell and she has all the intangibles working in her favor. I'm going with Staite in an upset."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess."

McCarthy: "It's like she's a Minda bird..."

Tess: "A what?"

Cassie: "Again...is it worth it?"

Tess: "Good point."

McCarthy: "Will you two stop babbling and let Jenny call the fight?"

O'Dell(sighing): "And there's the bell...and they're wasting no time getting started! A heavy exchange and then another! Neither woman going to give an inch to an old rival and the fans already into this thing!"

McCarthy: "Good stuff from Staite here in her first FCBA fight. Campbell comes out gunning and Jewel not going to be intimidated despite the bright lights!"

O'Dell: "Neve a good right hand and Jewel responds with one of her own! These two having at it. Nothing sloppy, just good, sound work with both women getting off well."

Cassie: "Both trying to make statements here, I think. Neve saying, 'I'm not letting you jump out early', and Jewel saying, 'I'm not punking to you."

O'Dell: "And ANOTHER big flurry and STAITE ROCKS CAMPBELL WITH A RIGHT HAND! Nice right hook from Jewel and now Staite pouring in the reserves, backing Campbell up and going to work."

McCarthy: "Neve with the guard up and Jewel going body on her."

O'Dell: "Staite getting off lusty in the final seconds. Jewel banking points right to the bell, claiming what was an even round with the big late push."

Tess: "Good start for Staite, no question. Let's see how Neve responds."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second round begins with another big exchange and these two not backing off a step, Mac!"

McCarthy: "Like we talked about, these two know one another well, Jenny. Neither of them is going to be surprised by anything the other does. Both of them know what to expect and they've both apparently determined the frontal assault is the best course of action."

O'Dell: "Neve getting a lot behind these punches, and Staite answering with heavy duty stuff of her own. Again, neither lady willing to back up a step, to cede a centimeter of canvas to her rival."

Cassie: "Making for a fan-friendly fight so far, that's for sure. Crowd into it as the ladies bang back and forth."

O'Dell: "AND NEVE LANDS A BIG RIGHT HAND! Jewel wobbled, stumbles backward and Campbell in hot pursuit. Neve backing Staite into the ropes and going body in a big way, banging those ribs and lats..."

Tess: "Taking THOSE punches is no fun at all, especially with Neve on the other end..."

O'Dell: "Staite wobbled with another right, this time a short hook. Jewel reeling as Neve snaps her head back with a left, but there's the bell!"

McCarthy: "Just the opposite of the last round. Even until late, this time Campbell wins it with the late rally."

Tess: "And makes it 19-19 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round begins with more heavy shot exchanged! Staite seems to have the legs back and able to give as good as she gets here in the early going of the third."

McCarthy: "Jewel showing a bit more movement with the head and shoulders this round, Jenny. Making Campbell miss more often."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. Those big bombs Neve landed last round look to have gotten her attention. Staite very methodical, still exchanging, but slipping punches much better now, angling up more, not allowing Campbell to square her up."

Cassie: "This is pretty slick stuff from Staite. A nice adjustment for someone in her first FCBA fight. The bright lights not too bright for her, it would appear."

O'Dell: "It certainly would. Staite slipping and dipping, staying busy, making things difficult for Campbell. Neve working just as hard, but not having as much success as previous rounds. Jewel's tactical adjustment serving her well, as she controls the round from start to finish and climbs back into the lead."

Tess: "29-28 for Staite after three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round underway and Staite a good left hand. Campbell responds with a SOLID combination that got Jewel's attention. Neve lands a good right and ANOTHER good right in the next exchange."

Cassie: "Campbell not having any problem finding Staite THIS round..."

O'Dell: "No, she is not. In fact, Campbell's landing every bit as well as she did in the first two, if not better. Staite's slipping and dipping no longer effective..."

Tess: "This is one of the interesting things about watching fighters who know one another well, the little adjustments they make. First Staite and now Neve..."

McCarthy: "Well, I'd agree except there ISN'T anything interesting about watching Campbell fight..."

Cassie: "I was interested when she was kicking YOUR butt all over Philly..."

McCarthy: "I. WAS. ROBBED. TWICE!"

O'Dell: "Well, no robbery going on in the ring, unless you count Neve banging away on Jewel like someone about to take her lunch money. Campbell timing Staite perfectly now, taking more and more control of this round as it goes on. Finishing with a nasty right at the bell. Shutout Neve Campbell."

Tess: "And it's now 38-38 after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Round five and Campbell continuing to assert herself against Staite. Jewel getting squared up now as Neve lands solidly with both hands."

McCarthy: "Staite still not willing to give ground, and that's not a bad thing, but she needs to get busier. She's letting Campbell get off first."

O'Dell: "Staite fighting mostly in counter now, thrown over to the defensive for the first time in the fight. Neve working upstairs and down, landing with both hands, heavy thumping hooks to the body, straight rights and lefts to the head."

Cassie: "Staite trying to time these counters, but Neve's seen this before. Getting the hands back, moving the head, not allowing much effective counter punching."

O'Dell: "Campbell smooth, methodical, setting up punches, putting them together very well. Staite hanging in tough, won't give ground, trying to get off in counter, but not able to do much scoring. Campbell in complete control at the bell and has her first lead of the fight."

Tess: "48-47 for Neve. And we're getting the competitive fight we expected when this one was signed."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Back to action in round number six, and Neve Campbell again quickly establishes control. Neve again getting off quickly, forcing Jewel to cover up. Staite fighting in counter, landing single punches, not able to put them together."

Cassie: "Staite waiting for openings, landing when she sees one, but there aren't enough of them."

O'Dell: "Campbell bangs body now, hooks the ribs. Staite ties up. Referee breaks. Campbell back to work and JEWEL DROPS HER WITH A RIGHT HAND COUNTER! Perfect punch from Staite sends Campbell to her knees!"

Cassie: "Timed it right on, Jenny!"

O'Dell: "Staite to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Neve to her feet at six, shaking it off as she takes the mandatory. Referee going to let it continue..."

McCarthy: "Of COURSE he is. Home town ref! Just like when I had the title STOLEN from me!"

O'Dell: "On comes Staite but Campbell stops her in her tracks with a solid flurry! Jewel banging back and here we go! Just like in the first two rounds, the ladies letting 'em go and not taking a step back. Neve lands a hard right and Jewel responds in kind..."

Tess: "This is impressive stuff from Neve, rallying back from the knockdown and denying Jewel the clean up."

O'Dell: "And denying she is, as the ladies bang away on even terms right to the bell, but the knockdown going to play, of course, and put Staite back in the lead."

McCarthy: "10-8 round, which makes it 57-56 for Jewel Staite."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh round picks up right where the sixth left off, as the two ladies exchange big salvos! Staite turning up the heat now, and Campbell firing right back!"

Cassie: "Crowd again loving this action!"

O'Dell: "Staite getting off first this round and Neve responding. Jewel showing a little more movement with the feet, angling up."

McCarthy: "More smart stuff from Staite. Went straight at Campbell after the knockdown to try to take her out of there. Didn't happen, so, now she's moving more, testing those legs. Neve still doesn't have them all the way back, so Jewel's able to take advantage."

O'Dell: "Another blistering exchange! Again, neither woman taking a step back. Staite continuing to fight lead and Neve in counter. Staite slipping a few more punches, scoring a few more points."

McCarthy: "And banking some body shots in there as well."

O'Dell: "Campbell bangs back to the body and it's a thump of leather to flesh right to the bell. Close round, but I think it's for Jewel."

Tess: "Which makes it 67-65 with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Eighth begins with Staite changing levels. Going into a half crouch with hands high and elbows tight. Slide stepping right away from Campbell's right hand. Getting the hands out and back quickly, slipping and blocking Neve's counters."

McCarthy: "This kid is fighting like I'm training her. This is a great adjustment with a bit of a lead going into the late rounds."

O'Dell: "Staite working this very effectively, landing well, scoring with both hands, frustrating Campbell's attempts to respond."

Cassie: "This level change reminds me of Allison Mack. She likes to work out of a similar crouch at times. In fact, she was working out of one when she knocked Mac out in under 30 seconds in 'The Gauntlet'..."

McCarthy: "I'd been fighting ALL NIGHT against an ALL-STAR TEAM..."

O'Dell: "Staite very slick with the hands, timing everything very well. Campbell still firing back, but not landing very much. Jewel having it all her way as we enter the final seconds. Staite a nice right hook to end a shutout round."

McCarthy: "Her best of the fight. Campbell's wearing out. This fight is over and Staite's the winner."

Tess: "She certainly has the lead, 77-74 after that one. Neve's going to need something big in these last two rounds."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Into the ninth and Jewel back in that half crouch and Campbell lands a solid uppercut! Jewel jabbing back and Neve nails her with the uppercut again!"

Tess: "Looks like Neve's solved this crouch..."

Cassie: "And it doesn't look like she's worn out, because there's another big uppercut!"

O'Dell: "Staite being backed up for the first time now, as Campbell goes to work with the heavy shot, uppercuts picking Staite up and forcing her to retreat. Jewel covering up, thrown completely onto the defensive."

Tess: "And, Mac, you said it. This fight has been all about adjustments, and Neve's made the latest one."

McCarthy: "Staite needs to make one of her own, because Campbell is squaring her up."

O'Dell: "Indeed she is. Neve going body now, thumping away. Staite looking like starting to break down under the constant shelling from Campbell. Neve firing all hooks and uppercuts now, blasting past her rival's defenses, sending her up against the ropes for the first time. Jewel clinching now, but Campbell pounds free and lands a final NASTY uppercut at the bell. Shutout round for Neve. But she's running out of time."

Tess: "86-84 with one to go. Neve needs something big in the final round."

ROUND TEN:

O'Dell: "Tenth and final underway and Neve right back to the assault. Staite out of the half crouch now, back to the more straight up style she used in the earlier rounds, but Campbell still dialed in, landing with both hands...AND STAITE ROCKED BY A RIGHT HAND!"

McCarthy: "That home town referee is just ITCHING to stop this!"

O'Dell: "Staite wobbly, being backed into the ropes as Campbell pours it on. Jewel covering up along the ropes, hands high, guard tight, leaning back and hanging on. And giving Neve all the body she wants..."

Cassie: "And Neve more than happy to take it! Pounding away at the ribs and lats, Staite right above us and you can hear her screaming into her gloves!"

O'Dell: "Campbell going all out for the stoppage. Staite just hanging on, trying to run clock, doing just enough to keep the referee at bay..."

McCarthy: "He'd BETTER not stop this! This is right where I had Campbell when they STOLE the title from me!"

O'Dell: "Referee looking closely as Campbell works up now, hammering away at Staite's guard. Jewel swaying against the ropes, tying up when she can, but Campbell simply shoves her off and goes back to work. Neve pounding punches off Staite's gloves. Jewel's head being buffetted side to side and SNAPPED BACK with an uppercut! Staite wobbled again but stays on her feet. Referee looking in again as Neve continues to hammer away..."

McCarthy: "BELL! BELL! It's over!"

O'Dell: "It is, indeed, and none too soon for Staite, who remains along the ropes for several seconds and then is plenty unsteady on her way back to the corner."

McCarthy: "She's also going to be plenty happy when she hears the decision read!"

O'Dell: "And that's happening now. And it's unanimous, your winner by a one-point UD10 is Jewel Staite!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I'm with our winner, Jewel Staite, and that last round was a tough one, but you survived and came up with a big win..."

Jewel: "I KNEW I'd beat Campbell! I've beaten her before and I knew I'd do it again. The last round, I wasn't really in trouble, I just coasted. I had the fight won and I wasn't going to take any chances of her stealing it, so, I just laid in on the ropes and let her paw away."

Tess: "How big a win is this for you?"

Jewel: "I hope it's huge. I hope people start to realize I'm the real deal and can fight with the best in the FCBA. It's RIDICULOUS that it's taken me this long to get an FCBA fight! It's time I get my due in this organization!"
