(Authors Note)
I’ve been a big fan of the FCBA for a long time. There were some girls I have always wanted to see in the ring, so I decided to make some match-ups with these unmanaged fighters. I’m a first time author and I’m sure everything could use more polish. I found myself editing over and over, when I realized I have to just post and move on. Please understand that I tried to follow the rules and spirit of the FCBA. I’m not sure when/if I’ll keep writing, but just working with these boxers was very satisfying.

Thanks for letting me make a small contribution to the FCBA.

Feedback is appreciated.

The chosen few made their way from all corners of the globe. Each girl had received a black envelope with a simple message. “If you would like to advance your boxing career, we can provide you with opportunities to test your skills. We invite you to view our facilities and listen to our proposal. If you possess the will to fight, this is a golden opportunity.

Travel arrangements were handled in the finest fashion. First class seats followed by chauffeurs brought each girl to a nondescript warehouse in Seattle. As the girls entered the building, they were met by clean cut attendants who directed them to a large conference room, where the girls were told the meeting would commence when all the invitees were present. They did not have long to wait. A well dressed man carrying a notebook entered the room and beckoned the girls to sit down.

“Welcome to the Diamond Boxing Club! My heart is warmed by your gracious acceptance of our invitation. I am the “Benefactor” behind this gym. My business ventures over the years have afforded me the opportunity to build this venue. Our interest is in establishing a world class boxing organization. We can provide everything necessary to make great fighters. But all our resources would be for nothing without you in the ring throwing the punches, fighting through hardships, and winning the glory. We have chosen you because in each of you we see great potential. Our interest is in creating a top class boxing operation and you have the potential to be high quality boxers.

We are hoping to find diamonds in the rough. You should be aware that, to our organization, stealing a decision the wrong way is akin to not winning at all. We appreciate girls who keep it clean, fight hard, and conduct themselves well outside the ring.

We know that the desire to fight is in each one of you. And for a variety of reasons, you haven’t been successful in the past. Some of you never received the proper training. Some of you never received the proper publicity. Others were brought into the league too quick and suffered misfortunes and knockouts that soured you on the sport. And some of you were under contractual obligations prevented you from fighting during your best years. In our opinion, these setbacks pale in comparison to the most important fact in your fighting career to date: You have traveled a great distance, hungry to strap on boxing gloves and fight again. You possess the will to fight, and I believe you possess the will to win.

We don’t expect anyone to step in the ring and fight for championships immediately. Please do not have any illusions of grandeur. You will begin with manageable fights against girls of your approximate fitness level and skill. We will commit to developing your boxing over the long term and we will not sacrifice your career for a quick payday or a doomed title shot. The resources of the Diamond Boxing Club will continue to support you as long as you show potential and progress.

You can expect this operation to grow and change to meet the needs of our fighters. Just as you are just beginning or resurrecting your boxing career, please remember that we are starting a new enterprise here as well. The expectations for you are the same we have for ourselves. Mistakes and missteps will inevitably occur, but we will fix them and continue to progress towards our stated goal.

As of right now, you are under no long-term contractual obligations to this boxing club, nor are you a member of any stable of fighters. We simply retain the first option on your contract should another stable want to sign you. You can understand that we are interested in establishing our brand, but we have no wishes to impede your progress. In the spirit of transparency, at this time we are unsure of the long-term structure of our enterprise. We may have interest in establishing a core stable of fighters. However, another function we may serve is as a launch pad to other… more established stables. We have no desire to fill a set number of roster spots and will provide long-term commitments to girls who meet our boxing standards.

If you take a moment to look around our gym, you will see our facilities are top of the line and you will have full access to them. Each of you will have access to trainers, publicists, agents and any other supports you might need to reach your optimal fighting condition.

Please be aware that this opportunity with our organization comes with a dangerous caveat, If after this opportunity, you have still not established a successful boxing career, you will not have any excuses to comfort you. Remember, we can only give you a chance.

The Diamond Boxing Club would like to thank you for considering this opportunity.”

The Benefactor calmly walked out of the room, leaving a hushed excitement in his wake.
