Adams chuckles from the podium. “Despite what you may have heard, we’re still alive and punching! I know I’m getting a late start and it’s definitely humbling starting from the bottom at this point. All these rumors of a seniors division make this the perfect time for me to get busy in the ring. My career could last a long time! Everyday, I push myself harder and become a more dangerous fighter. But you reporters, and Banksy here, might be surprised how much pop I’ve got in my gloves.

Elizabeth nodding in agreement. “This fight camp has been incredible. I’ve never felt more prepared for a bout. I don’t know how often chances like this come along. The Benefactor, or ‘Benny’ as we’ve affectionately started calling him, believes we can still slug in the ring. Some of you are wondering how ‘old broads’ like us can survive a boxing match. Let me just say that if I’m good in this fight, next time I’m going to be better. And tonight, I plan on being great!

Round 1: Banks up and dancing out of her corner, fleet feet and stiff jabs out of the gate. Adams throwing out one-twos, high and low, investing in her girl’s body. Amy Adams establishing her rhythm early; a poke to the face followed by a shot to the tummy, Banks seems unconcerned by this downstairs work. Like she’s waiting for an opening… BOOM! Elizabeth times her counter perfectly and lands two big shots right on the chin. Amy wobbly, rocked by that surprise, gets up on her bike to by herself time. Elizabeth giving chase but can’t catch up.

Round 2: Neither girl makes any changes to the fight plan. It’s the same strategic battle, Banks showing her speed, Adams wanting to show her power. Amy’s defense is catching most of what’s being thrown, and her inside game is gaining traction. That old one-two now landing a little harder. Solid work from Amy, stalking her girl and piling up points. She’s content to take what her opponent gives her, making deposits to Elizabeth’s quickly reddening torso. Nothing major, just solid work chipping away at Banks.

Round 3: During the break, Elizabeth getting an emphatic lesson on protecting her body. As the girls move back to striking range, Adams looks to return to what’s been working. But when she goes for the one two, Banks hits her with a sharp counter left, forcing a startled Amy to fall in for a clinch. Elizabeth now with the upper hand inside, hitting her woozy girl with digging hooks to the body. Adams staying strong in the pocket, willing to take body blows in exchange for staying inside. Amy resting her head on shoulder, finally pushes off her girl, creating space and launches two HUGE UPPERCUTS to the body. Banks starts a gurgling collapse as she caves around those two concussive blasts, easing herself onto hands and knees, clutching her violated mid section. She can’t catch her breath, face pinched in pain, butt in the air, one glove on her body. And the count passes her by! Adams all smiles as she wins by KO3!

After: Adams jubilant in the interview “I didn’t expect to finish her that soon. The plan was to keep hitting her body to soften her up. It’s just a bonus that she couldn’t take it. I honestly expected her to get up and keep coming. My guess is she just needed an excuse to get out of there. Once she felt my power, she knew I’d knock her ass out eventually. Why take the extra punishment?”
