Keri confident at the podium “I’m basically an action star. Playing spies, being a cover model for fitness magazines, this is my day to day life. I’ve been living the lifestyle of a great boxer without the fighting. I’ve been preparing for this league my entire career. Julie’s a nice girl but she’s in the wrong place at the wrong time. I hope after I knock her out, we can still be friends.” Julie takes the tough talk in stride. “It’s easy to say things here at the podium. Things change when you’re in the ring. Also, between the two of us, I’m the only one who knows how to knock a girl out. In fact, I’m technically riding a three fight win streak. Keri has only fought once in her life, and she ended up flat on her back… in the second round! Hopefully, she can last a little bit longer tonight. But her night ends the same.”

Round 1: Both girls come out looking to box, content to feel each other out with the jab when Russell HITS WITH A JACKHAMMER, and Bowen’s legs get tangled up as she lands on her butt. Julie stunned on the canvas, with a “what does she think she’s doing?” look on her face. Julie takes her time getting up but looks fresh as she takes a standing eight. Keri cautiously closes in, assessing the damage she caused, but Julie presents a tight defense. Julie backing up, slowing the fight down, Keri should be pressing her advantage, but seems content to remain pushing forward. Keri pawing with her jab when Julie plants, ducks underneath the punch and CONNECTS!. That right hook puts a stop to Keri’s charge, snapping her head as the bell rings. Russell getting an earful in her corner. Needs to bite when she smells blood in the water.

Round 2: Julie can’t wait to get in and trade, looking to establish inside position and catching Keri by surprise. A bullying attack drives Keri back into the ropes with a busy Julie Bowen throwing hard punches to her lithe body. Keri some hard shots behind her elbows and gives as good as she gets, putting a sidewinder hook on Julie’s jug, drawing a satisfyingly painful grunt. Solid trading both ways as Keri keeps her guard tight, a few hard lefts give her a chance to slide off the ropes and escape to center ring. Julie stomps after her, hoping to repeat her success but KERI WON’T HAVE IT! Russell lands a hard right cross, stopping Julie in her tracks. Keri looks to get back to boxing, getting back on her toes, looking for openings when the round ends.

Round 3: Keri is ready for a rush, flicking out that solid jab to keep her distance. Bowen shows patience and a willingness to pick her spot, chasing Keri down while staying busy herself. Julie cuts off the ring, forcing Keri into a corner and hammering that defense, trying to smash through with sheer power. Keri’s guard is strong, but Julie DIGS two hard body blows under Keri’s elbows, drawing a gurgling moan and face hurting from tummy ache. Bludgeoning work from Julie but she’s met by equally solid defense. Dips and ducks, catching punches on gloves and elbows, Keri Russell avoiding any more major shots. Pacing herself effectively, Bowen keeps the pressure on, disheartening Keri with solid punching but nothing major.

Round 4: Keri Russell rises from her stool early, her arms and torso showing some redness from the body attack of the last round. Julie charges forward, looking to pick up where she left off, but she just can’t get inside. Beautiful, accurate punching by Russell, exploiting her opponent’s eagerness to trade by measured, forceful blows. Julie is resolute but clearly slowing as she commits to getting back to that hard, interior work. Keri works in the combos, playing the matador very effectively. She throws two left jabs and NAILS HER with a right cross. Bowen stiffens up and collapses onto her side, face a blank slate. Keri flashes a quick double biceps pose while staring down at her foe. Julie stirring at “three” and begins crawling to the ropes. A hard climb to her feet, she makes it up at eight but she’s a beauty on shaky legs, forcing the ref to take a good long look in her eyes before allowing the fight to continue. Not much time left as Keri’s corner screams to FINISH HER!! But either Keri can’t or won’t press her advantage, continuing a safe methodical attack. Julie thankful for the reprieve, coasts to close out the round with a little rubber in her legs. Keri’s corner right in her face “The next time she’s in trouble, YOU KNOCK HER ASS OUT!!”

Round 5: Julie, breathing heavy as she rises slowly off her stool, abandons the plodding tank-like attack to swing for the fences. Keri cautiously resumes her effective jabbing and footwork, controlling Bowen by keeping her on the end of that jab. Julie’s face starts puffing up nicely. It looks like she’s waiting to unleash a haymaker but she can’t find a window because Keri keeps finding a home for her punches. Russell landing whenever she wants and STARTS THROWING THE HEAVY STUFF!! Hard punches snap Julie’s head left and right! Keri buries home a solid body blow, flattens Bowen left breast and sends an uppercut directly to Julie’s chin THAT TURNS THE LIGHTS OFF! She crashes to the canvas out cold with gloves outstretched and eyelashes fluttering. Banging stuff from Keri as THE REF STOPS IT!! A FEROCIOUS FINISH from Keri Russell making her the winner by KO5!

AFTER: Keri takes a while to come down off her victory high, flexing for a frenzied crowd. Absolutely beaming in her interview after her solid performance tonight. “It felt great to be back in the ring! I’m in great shape, my technique felt good, and I think I dominated the fight. Though it’s clear I need more training before I’m ready for the big fights. She was probably ready to go out earlier, that’s what my corner was telling me, so I’m going to work on that killer instinct. But Julie Bowen is a tough girl and she put up a good fight. A knockout win is just the way to restart my career!”
