BBU STABLE WAR: LATIN UNION VS THE SATURDAYS
(Latin Union vs Double A/The Saturdays)
Posted by Knowlesey on September 23, 2013, 9:47 am
After Vanessa’s win over Lea, The Saturdays are rolling out their biggest gun – Rochelle Humes , who takes on Laura Pausini, proud conqueror of Sarah Harding.
Laura has her hands full in this match – she may have been able to despatch Sarah Harding in the Girls Aloud challenge fairly easily, but Rochelle is a much better fighter than Sarah, and she’s looking for some good wins now to try to get a title challenge.
Into the ring slides Rochelle, the dark-skinned beauty immaculate in her baby blue basque, knickers, gloves and boots, glaring at the older Laura in her scarlet bikini with matching gloves and boots.
Round 1
Rochelle’s started this fight very aggressively, and she nails Laura with a swift right hook to the jaw in the opening minute, the Italian already staggering a little. Laura gets back to Rochelle, though, and she’s looking to trade with the younger girl, which looks a bad idea as Rochelle beats her back, landing a great left jab, popping the older girl’s head back – and there’s the right hook again! Laura’s down! This hasn’t taken long for Rochelle to settle in, and she’s smiling as a shaky Laura resumes after a count of 8, and now she hits her again, not letting Laura get inside her longer reach, and she’s dominating the Italian again now, goes for the uppercut – but gets caught! Laura at last lands a punch, and it’s a good one – right in Rochelle’s ribs, and hard enough to slow her down Laura landing again with her right at the close of the round to gain some confidence.
Round 2
Laura looks positive as she starts the second round, and she’s throwing some good punches again, hitting the retreating Rochelle to the body with some ease, the younger girl starting to drift into the ropes – and that’s a bad spot to be in against Laura, who gives her a left hook to the liver there, Rochelle clinching, but clearly hurt! The referee parts the girls, Laura again giving Rochelle a firm punch to her ribs, but the Brit strikes back, a swift combination to the face sending Laura backwards, and she follows her, throws a pair of solid jabs, but she’s let Laura inside her reach again, and she’s paying for it as the shoter girl uses her power to punish her some more, again gripping to stop the onslaught before the bell pauses the action.
Round 3
Laura comes forward some more, gloves smacking away at Rochelle, the taller girl staying mobile though, never letting Laura settle, not making the mistake of trading up close, and keeping her back neatly, getting up on her toes to accentuate the slight height advantage she has over the older girl, and sticking some good jabs on her. But Laura is inside Rochelle’s reach again now, and she’s landing punches again, Rochelle confidently absorbing them though, and holding well when she has to, letting Laura doe the work, leaning on her to try to tire her. Laura’s red face seems to suggest that Rochelle’s tactics are working as the round draws to a close, and the Brit gives her a neat combination to set her back, feints to throw the uppercut, and lands a left hook, Laura stumbling slightly as the girls return to their corners.
Round 4
Now the girls stand off a little, and this is suiting Rochelle, the younger girl using her boxing skills to snap Laura’s head back with her accurate left jab, and now she follows with a right hook, Laura being picked off as she comes bullocking in at Rochelle, the momentum swinging back to the British girl, who is starting to close Laura down, moving her around the ring, and that left jab is punishing the Italian as she tries in vain to take Rochelle on at close quarters, her skin starting to graze with the constant smacking of the leather – and that right hook’s there again, Rochelle giving Laura her big right hand to the ribcage this time, and she tries her left uppercut, but misses again, just like she did in the first round, although this time Laura’s a little too far back to take advantage – when she does land a punch on Rochelle it’s poor, and Rochelle can respond, too, nailing Laura very easily with a right to the face, sending her backwards, the Brit again looking good as the round closes.
Round 5
There’s no standing off for Laura here, the older girl taking the fight to Rochelle, trying to bully the younger girl backwards, but the Brit’s having none of that, and she snaps off a good left jab, then another, and a third, flowing that one with a solid right cross, Laura feeling the force of those punches, and she’s back on her heels, defending her head. Rochelle quickly switches the attack down to Laura’s body, stings her, again tries the uppercut, this time glancing it off the Italian’s cheek, enough landing to send her slumping into the ropes, giving Rochelle the chance to work to her body again, and now she right hooks her face, the punch smacking neatly into Laura’s cheek, and she’s hurt her with that, and now gives her a well-timed one-two, with Laura just about hanging in there, clinching hard, the referee having to prise her off, bruising starting to come out around her left eye. There’s a final flourish in the round from Rochelle, too – she pumps two more jabs on Laura’s mouth, and sweeps her right hook over the top, smacking it on Laura’s eye, leaving her looking helpless on the ropes.
Round 6
Laura’s looking very tired, but Rochelle’s fresh as a daisy, and she’s jabbing the older girl’s face again, and there’s that stinging right hook to follow, rocking Laura backwards, and now she’s poking her back again, the jab setting her up on the ropes. Laura looks a little dazed now, takes another two, three jabs, and Rochelle goes for that uppercut yet again - she got her this time, though! There’s no need to count, because Laura’s well gone.
Result: Rochelle Humes knocked Laura Pausini out in round 6.
Rochelle was pretty damned good tonight – Laura was out of her depth in that ring, and she’s not going to want to get back in there again any time soon, because she was badly beaten.
Well, that puts The Saturdays 2 – 0 up and Latin Union needs to sharpen up or lose this match badly. |
