BBU BOUT (KEAR'S KATS VS MARTTI'S MAULERS)

We join Georgie Thompson at ringside for this one:

After her horrid defeat by Demi Lovato, Charley is faced with the feisty Zaraah, who has been surprisingly inactive since winning her debut fight in July 2012 against Frankie Sandford. To be honest, the fact that she couldn’t put a jobber like Frankie away makes me fear for her against big-hitting Charley, who was doing OK against Demi until she got tagged in rounds 4 and 5, and I’ve heard she’s tightened up since that defeat.

Here’s Zaraah, and she’s looking good in a pale blue bikini top and microskirt, her gloves and boots matching – and now in comes Charley, and she’s in a black bikini, boots and gloves – she looks determined, too!

Round 1

Charley looks strong, and she’s moving well, moving forward, and she’s giving Zaraah the big hooks early, knocking the girl’s head back there with a solid straight one to follow, and that shook the girl to her boots, I reckon, had her holding on there. Now Zaraah responds – and the girl’s, jabbing, moving well, and giving Charley a little runaround as she stays mobile on the outside, not letting Webb get the chance to land her crushing punches, but she’s made a mistake now, tried to sidestep, and got caught. Now there’s more punishment coming in from Charley, giving Zaraah a good left, with a right uppercut to follow, and that’s wobbled Zaraah, but she’s resilient, and she’s defending well at the bell, keeping her gloves nice and high.

Round 2

Back come the girls, and Charley again hits Zaraah with ease, and she’s looking the businees now, givng Zaraah a hard time with her right hook, has her moving back and into the ropes now – and Charley goes for a big one, swishing an uppercut past Zaraah’s nose as she misses, Zaraah swaying back and away. Now Zaraah retaliates once more, hits Charley square in the mouth with a right jab, and now she’s giving her body a little smack. Charley drops her guard, and she gets jabbed again and again to the face, and she’s really beginning to start taking shots from Zaraah, who’s just relentless now, jabbing snappily, moving well, and Charley’s being hit and hurt by a girl she’d expected to dominate.

Round 3

I’d expected Charley to be giving Zaraah some punishment by now, but instead it’s all Zaraah, just picking Charley off, using the ring well, using her athletic legs well. In she comes again, snapping off those jabs, landing so accurately, with Charley’s supposedly improved defence getting breached again and again – and that’s a good dig from Zaraah into Charley’s tummy – that’s taken the air outa her lungs! Charley’s suffering now, as Zaraah finds more gaps in her defence, and I can see bruising around Charley’s right eye as she lays back on the ropes and takes another pummelling. Zaraah has enjoyed a second solid round, but Charley’s fighting back now as the round draws to a close, and that left hook of hers bangs home, and hurts Zaraah, who holds now through to the bell.

Round 4

I don’t think Zaraah looks as quick as she did, and she certainly isn’t owning the ringspace any more, and she isn’t liking this now – Charley wants to trade! And she’s got the advantage in this, she’s really caught Zaraah there with a right hook – Zaraah’s holding on in there, but she looks hurt to my eyes. And here’s another big trade off, Charley’s right hook dominant though- again Zaraah’s getting hurt and she’s not landing her punches any more – awww, Charley got her yet again with right hook, and Zaraah wobbles, here eyes are looking panicky’ and she’s caught again, and she’s down. Zaraah just didn’t see that left glove homing in on her and it got her in the mouth. Zaraah takes a count of 8, but she looks unsteady to me as Charley works on her again, and she kind of pushed her backwards then, and now she’s cornered her, and she’s working her over to the body – Zaraah’s gotta be glad to hear that bell!

Round 5

Now –can Charley press home her advantage in this round? She’s started it well enough, and she’s knocked Zaraah back with a hard two fisted beating to body – Zaraah seemed to absorb it well, but she’s really looking sluggish now. Again Zaraah tries to hold, but Charley hooks her to the face, and she’s staggered her again – she just can’t seem to find the punch to put her girl away, though, and she’s looking more than a little frustrated as Zaraah struggles, clinches and holds on. Zaraah’s offering little in response to Charley’s punching, but Charley isn’t clinical – we need to see her do something other than just smash her gloves towards Zaraah without connecting properly. Zaraah didn’t just survive that round – she actually didn’t seem bothered.

Round 6

Looking at Zaraah, I have to say she seems very tired, and at last Charley seems to be understanding how to take the fight to her opponent intelligently, has Zaraah defending her body there – and now she unleashes a big combination, her left glove landing in Zaraah’s mouth, then her right finds her cheek. This is better from Charlie, and again Zaraah starts to wobble - Charley hits her to the body – and Zaraah looks desolate, sags a little there, and Charley gets her with the right hook again - down goes Zaraah, really hard! I don’t think she’ll beat the count folks – wait! She’s up at 8 again, but she’s really unsteady – her legs have just gone – the ref’s stopped the fight right there.

Result: Charley Webb beat Zaraah Abrahams by stoppage in round 6.

I still think Charley could become a good fighter, but I was disappointed in her tonight! She looked vulnerable at times, and someone like Nikki Sanderson or one of the Mulheron sisters would have put her away – Zaraah doesn’t have the punching power, but she still managed to hurt her, and made her look poor at times. And what about Zaraah herself? She’d benefit from having more fights, but she doesn’t have anything scary in her armoury, I’m afraid!
