Eva cooly smiling throughout the interview, trying to get under Paula’s skin. “It’s simple. She’s not in my class. It’s a fact and how she perceives that fact is not my concern. Training in France has brought me skill and fitness that she cannot match.” Eva takes one of her gloves and waves it Paula’s face. “You two should get acquainted. You’ll get to know each other quite well tonight. My task tonight is to educate this charleton in proper boxing technique. If she falls, she falls.

Paula chuckling under her breath. Clearly entertained by this kind of bravado. “How do I feel going into the fight? Well I’m extremely disappointed. I haven’t had a fight this year, so I came to DBC just looking to get in the ring and get the rust off. But I need championship level opponents, not this tramp. I’ve been in there with some of the best girls in the division: Freeman, Righetti, Law and Upton. I had hoped Benny would match me up against someone a little more challenging. This is going to be embarrassing for her.”

Both girls enter the ring slowly, trying to force the other girl to wait. Tense staredown at center ring, each girl turning the switch to battle mode

Round 1: Paula Patton the aggressor early on. She’s loving those big hooks, forcing Eva to absorb the blows on her arms. Green opting for the more tactical approach. She’s waiting for the openings and pounding them with her gloves. Eva’s offense leaves some openings of her own, which Paula happily finds with her own punches. Green backing off now. She’s tasted some of the power shots, now she’s looking to jab and move. Eva flicking out her jab in retreat, leaving it out to find her distance, as Paula stalks her around the ring. The girls circle when Eva plants and LAUNCHES the right hand to Patton’s chin, right as the bell rings. Patton stuned but keeps her sturdy legs under her. She stares Eva down at the bell, “How DARE you?!?” look on her face. An observant viewer might have seen Eva’s eyes widen for a split second.

Round 2: With the knowledge that she’ll need more than one shot to end the fight, Eva looks to get in and trade. She’s coming forward, closing the distance and punching well, but Paula is the one controlling the action. Patton well versed in fighting inside. She’s using her elbows to carve out space then jamming uppercuts through those openings. Green is the aggressor but it’s Patton taking what she wants through two.

Round 3: Green’s pride might be getting in the way of her judgement as again she meets in the center of the ring. She’s not moving or using her speed. Instead she’s daring Paula to fight inside, where Paula seems to be winning all of the exchanges. Patton doesn’t understand it either but she’s happy not to have to chase her girl down. Eva’s corner calling for her to use the ring, jab it out, but Green isn’t having it, showing that tight earmuff, looking to slug and trade. Paula Patton bullies her girl back, and launches a thunderous hook to the body, followed by a right cross that dissolves Eva’s defense. Shaky legs on the Frenchwoman as NOW Eva gets on her bicycle trying to slide away but Patton’s right there with her, pounding her body and head with equal measure. Green initiates a series of clinches to end the round, drawing boos from the crowd. DBC fans don’t like holding.

Round 4: It’s Eva who punches first but Paula Patton who punches best. Green still standing right in front, as she throws jabs and hooks that score, but it’s Patton digging in those body blows and whipping Greens head with that right hand. Paula beats her girl to the ropes. Eva to her credit, has shown no quit tonight and surges off the ropes with some wild shots. Most of those punches miss by a mile, and the few on target are easily defended by Paula. Green still woozy as she’s looking to clinch again. But Patton holds her left arm out, creating interior space to SLAM uppercuts into Eva Green’s body and chin. Eva ROCKED by those shots!! She withers forward, desperately clinging to Paula to keep from going down. Patton twisting and turning, trying to break free so she can finish the job. But Eva is hanging on for her life! DING! The ref jumps in to break the girls apart as Eva Green can’t let go of her death grip. She’s a dizzy beauty as she starts stumbling towards a neutral corner. Her people come out to guide her in. It’s looking dark for Eva Green through four rounds.

Round 5: The writing is on the wall. Green needs to make some changes quickly if she wants to stay in this fight. But she seems to be stuck in one gear, coming forward and telegraphing her biggest punches. She’s landing some punches but nothing substantial is getting through. Her pride won’t let her admit that Paula Patton is outgunning her. But Paula is now landing some bruising stuff. It’s uppercuts that force Eva back into the ropes, where she sags with her gloves in that tight earmuff. Then it’s Paula Patton with solid methodical punishment on the ropes. Eva just soaking it up, still throwing leather back but clearly on the wrong end of every flurry. Ref hovering, looking closely at Eva. But she’s still upright, still on her legs, and still punching. Paula doesn’t seem to be looking to end the fight here, content to make her mark all over Eva Green as the round ends. As the girls start to move back to their corner’s Paula leans and whispers: “I’m not letting him stop it. You can quit, or you can go out on your back. It’s up to you.”

Round 6: Eva is up off her stool early. She looks fired up, bouncing up and down trying to convince herself that she’s fresh. But her reddening face and torso tell a different story. When the two fighters close, Eva is a step slower and on the receiving end of some nasty shots. Green showing tremendous heart, still trying to slug, but Patton is catching everything on her gloves with ease. Now both girls are at center ring, elbows tucked tight, looking to land the power shots. Eva trying for combos but nothing is getting through. It’s looking very one-sided here as Paula Patton LANDS A THUNDEROUS lead right, unhinging Eva Green and turning her knees to jelly. But the Frenchwoman refuses to go down! Eva grabbing and snatching and anything she can find to hold her up. She falls back into the ropes, bouces off and tries to grab hold of Patton. Paula side-steps out, looking to create some distance to punch. Green now staggering around the ring with her gloves by her side and her head in a fog. Paula Patton takes the invitation to start HEAVING BOMBS!! DETONATING punch after punch to Eva’s rapidly swelling face. Green knocked back by each concusive blow, can’t get her legs under her as she’s still reeling from the head shots. She falls back into the ropes and tries to punch her way out, when her left arm gets tangled in the top cord!!! It’s open season now, as Paula Patton shows no mercy landing two MONSTROUS hooks to Green’s defenseless face. Ref hovering but slow to react. Finally jumps in to stop… wait… he’s not stopping it?!? The ref just untangles Eva Green and gives the command to fight!?!? Eva still looks like she wants to box, but it doesn’t look like she can mount any kind of comeback. The ref waves Paula Patton in and she wastes no time in THUMPING the helpless Eva on the chin. AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF for Eva Green!! She stiffens up and falls back into the ropes. Eva’s back arches as she’s stretched out over the second rope, half in and half out of the ring. The French beauty is STARCHED and there’s no need for a count. Paula Patton is your winner by a KO6!!

After:
For all her theatrics, Patton relatively gracious in victory. “She’s a fighter. No doubt about that. Most girls would have quit after they tasted my power. Frenchie never quit. She was willing to keep fighting and that gave me the rounds I need. I respect her for that. But Benny better get me in here with some girls who can really box. Look out FCBA, I’m gunning for CHAMPIONSHIP BELTS!!”

Many in the Eva Green camp complaining to the press about why the ref didn’t stop it sooner. How could the ref not see that Eva was so hurt? Why doesn’t DBC care about the safety of their fighters? It goes on and on until Eva Green makes her own statement, “I’m glad the ref didn’t stop it. I wanted to keep boxing and I don’t want someone else to tell me when I’m done. I was still up, I was still boxing, and he did the right thing letting me fight.”
