Lucy Lawless coming into the fight in great shape. She’s packed on some high quality beef for this fight, and she might need it. She’s also giving up 10 years and the speed and stamina that comes with it. Liv not worried about the difference in body types.

Liv: The fans need to understand how “fantasy” works. When you watch her “Warrior Princess” show, she’s not really doing those flips. She can’t really throw a boomerang, and she wasn’t actually fighting gods or monsters or whatever it was. And that show was over a decade ago. This bout is going to be in that boxing ring with two flesh and blood women. Now, with all that said, it’s going to be pretty cool to knock out Xena!”

Lucy: (Laughing) “Yes, sadly I am not officially a “Warrior Princess”. I’m just a very fit, six foot tall woman that is going to be chasing you down and punching you at will. Any fool in the room could look at our body types and tell the kind of fight we’re going to see. She’ll be backing away from me afraid, and I’ll be coming right at her face swinging leather. The difference is, she needs to run the entire fight, but I only have to find her once.”

Round 1: Lawless comes forward like a tank, with a tight defense looking to launch big shots. Liv skipping in and out, trying to stick and move to stay out of range. Liv is getting her licks in but she’s taking damage too. She’s not quite elusive enough to make the Kiwi miss. Liv tries to hover right on the edge of Lucy’s range daring Lawless to punch first. Lucy takes the bait throwing a heavy one-two. Liv ducks under both and digs in two solid body blows before darting out of range. She scampers around the ring, gaining confidence, showing shifty footwork. And she pulls out the same play again, getting closer, daring Lawless to hit her. Lucy loading up for the big blows, but misses again, Liv slides right and HOOKS CHIN. Lawless shaken up by that clout. Bell: Lucy plodding back to her corner, clearly needing some adjustments. Liv dancing back to her corner with gloves held high. She knows that was only the first round, right?

Round 2: It’s Liv Tyler, moving well and clearly feeling strong. Lucy with the big swings again… OOOFF!!! A VISCOUS straight right comboed with a tight left uppercut. And Lawless connects both punches right on the button!! Liv off balance as she was trying to slip away when she got caught. Crashes on to her side, staring off into space as the ref begins the count. Liv Tyler’s right hip is on the canvas and she’s up on her right elbow. A blank expression on her face, mouth hanging open as she tries to clear her head. The count is at “five” now and Liv isn’t moving!!! Can’t seem to get her body in gear! She was clearly rocked by that combo from Lawless! She’s got to start moving if she wants to make it! A feeble attempt at “eight” sees Liv shift up to her right knee… but no further!! A SHOCKING KO2 for Lucy Lawless!!!

Lawless surprised by her own victory. She’s elated as she wanders the ring, flexing her muscles for the appreciative crowd, They’re going wild for the girl who provided such a definative knockout. Lucy grinning ear to ear post-fight. “ I’m very happy with it, but I didn’t think the fight was going to go that way. I was looking at it as a numbers game. I just needed to keep throwing punches until one or two connected. Liv was a little… uncouth before the fight. And that does make it a little sweeter. But it just feels great to be back in the ring, and I’m excited to have some more fights like this one!”

Liv dejected on her way to the locker room. She stops for a quick interview: “No excuses. She got me. I had a good fight plan and I felt strong. I remember she punched me on the chin and then the next thing I remember was the ref was waving his arms. I know I can fight better than this and I hope I get another chance to prove it.”
