Before: "Honestly I don't know who this girl is. I hear she was considered for a couple of movies, but lost out to Emma Stone and Scarlett Johannson." Phoebe dismissive in prefight. "And now she wants to put out an album? Sounds like somebody who needs to settle down and commit to something."

Mary coming off big win over future Hall-of-Famer Kaley knows this is an opportunity to pole-vault herself into the lightweight elite. "If attitude were everything, these two would already be champs. To be fair, these two tore things up all summer, and now we get to see if they belong up in the elite."

On paper, Tonkin's height, physicality generally answer Winstead's experience advantage. Mary in pretty powder blue bikini with belted bottoms white gloves; long brown hair with bangs. Phoebe in tan lace push up; black velvet panties with a boy leg; black gloves; long black hair loose & tangly.
R1: Phoebe pumping jabs, sidestepping to her left, Mary trying to cut into knife-fighting range, getting rebuffed. Spirited stuff, both women pounding away in turns as Winstead keeps pressing up the middle, both women tomahawking rights, jabbing jug. Mary eventually pancakes Phoebe into the Foxfire corner in the final minute, crushing her into turnbuckles. Winstead sets her right leg well back, getting great push off the right foot; left cheek and left shoulder pressing into Tonkin's chest; left forearm bracing across Phoebe's tummy as Mary salts away the opener.

R2: Mary ducks inside and rings Phoebe up with an uppercut. Tackles her into the ropes in a writhing heap, lanky bodies untangling as Winstead pulls herself back, collecting tummy and chin while Tonkin can only try to slide along the ropes, looking for a way to get her legs back in this fight.

R3-5: Portrait of a breakdown. Mary's able to get in under Phoebe's jab, bundle her onto the ropes for the entirety of these three rounds. Left hook finding a home in Tonkin's tummy, right uppercut scoring to Phoebe's chin. Tonkin defending well in the third, gets a little push-back in the fourth, but accumulated damage has her hanging in the ropes, just sponging at the end of 5.

R6: Phoebe finally gets it together - jabbing for a little distance, fighting out of a wider stance, commanding the ring. That's the first 2 mins. Tonkin lowering her head as she comes inside, pumping away to Winstead's breadbasket right/left/right. Mary absorbs in crouching earmuff, then erupts into a hook to chin, stopping Phoebe cold. Winstead POURS in a right hand over the top, crushing Tonkin's head to her shoulder and DOWN GOES PHOEBE! Aussie up shaky, Mary cleans up strong on the ropes, handing out yet another beating to bell.

R7: Tonkin visibly wrecked - she comes out brave, but she's quickly swarmed to ropes. TKO7 after a minute as Winstead's romping, Tonkin wilting, not answering back.

After: REALLY surprising result - Mary just imposing her will from the outset. Something of a "welcome to the FCBA" style beatdown - even though Tonkin's been around for a while - this was unexpectedly one-sided.

Mary's not a bully, actually consoling Pheebs afterward, giving her some words of encouragement. "She's got good stuff and knows how to use it. That girl has heart and to spare. It's not like she's one of those Front Street girls who fall to peices everytime somebody hits them harder than they expected! She'll be back soon, and be better for this!"
