2013 FALL TELEVISION PREVIEW

Emily VanCamp (Revenge) versus Minka Kelly (Almost Human)
(Sim results; Lookout! words)

Before: Emily stating coolly at the podium before this contest, “Ever since my stable won a bidding war for my services, I've been working hard to prove that they made the right decision. Tonight, I plan to further validate that as I'm going to become the alpha Bantam at Lookout! Boxing. Minka has thrashed Lishy and I've beaten down Leighton, so now it's down to me and her. Only one of us can come out on top tonight and you know who that will be? Me.” Minka responding just as coldly as she hears Emily laying down the terms of engagement, “Emily has been on my radar ever since she was brought in, but now, she's got my attention tonight and that is not somewhere she wants to be. I have worked hard to take away the top spot from Lishy and now, there is no way I'm letting it go to some snobby, snooty blonde like Em. I am going to wipe that smug smile off of her face and she'll know who the alpha is after tonight.” Both girls get up from their respective podiums, staring one another down across the podium until they both walk towards one another. Officials on high alert, but they bump each other shoulders – hard – as they both try to knock the other off balance and then continue towards the ring. High stakes here tonight and both fighters appear ready for it.

R1: Both Emily and Minka maneuver to midring as they pivot around one another with Kelly trying to jab towards tummy or bobbing in to try to hook towards tummy as she attempts to keep her guard up to protect herself . But, Emily keeping her elbows up and planting off of her lead foot to shoot out right jabs hard towards Minka's face, just pumping a double jab out swiftly that keeps pushing Kelly backwards VanCamp just moving Minka backwards around the ring, scoring in spots when she breaks through and turning her foe towards the ropes, pre-empting Minka's attempts at offense behind that steady jab. Minka is unhurt physically, but is unable to get past the jab as EVC sails to a breezy shutout in the first round.

R2: Minka is trying to slide in past Emily's jab to try to bounce her mitts off of trim tummy or waist, but Emily remains disciplined and maintains her stance, planting her feet as she pumps out that steady, swift double jab to drill into Kelly's face. Minka forced to cover up as she is losing the turning battle, VanCamp pivoting around her as she pursues a backpedaling Kelly across the ring. Once again, she isn't really hurting Minka but keeping her foe under duress throughout the round as Minka is unable to establish any momentum under the pressure of the jab. This results in another classy shutout as Emily extends her lead through two.

R3: Minka unhurt in the previous two rounds, but that's about to change this round as Emily picks up the pace with leather lashing forward into her foe's face repeatedly to push off of her strong legs to keep up the pressure. Kelly trying to bring her gloves up, but Emily responding with pinpoint accuracy to keep breaking through her defenses as she is dialed in relentlessly, eyes hard as she glares coolly at her rival. Minka's strong legs really showing this round as they keep her upright despite being battered across the head and shoulders, with Em sweeping in with both hands, rights and lefts just spanking into Kelly's face. Kelly is wobbly-butt as she finds her face whipping back and forth, sagging back into the ropes under the battering by Em. Minka goes earmuff as she sits in the ropes, blinking back tears of hurt as she suffers a major pasting that round and while she doesn't go down, she suffers a 10-8 beating that time round and is really busting up. Emily smiling confidently as she heads back to her corner, strutting as she widens her lead after three with that big round.

R4: Minka drying any tears in her corner as her gaze hardens, coming out determined as she is eager to get back into this fight after three successive shutouts. Em emerging from her corner behind that jab that has been so successful this fight, but Minka using those same strong legs that were so pivotal last round to maneuver around her blonde rival and bob her way forward to drive leather into Em's waist and tummy. Minka shrugging in short, but hard uppercuts towards VanCamp's abs and keeps sliding with her legs, preventing Em from locating her with the jab as she keeps targeting blonde torso. Occasionally sneaking in a slick right to smack into Em's cheek as Minka rallies nicely to show her resilience, taking the fight to Emily. Emily managing to score in spots with a few jabs that smack into Kelly's face and chest, but Minka getting the majority of the offense this round as she shows she isn't going down without a fight and takes her first round of the contest.

R5: Minka making her way forward and back into the contest as she gets right up into VanCamp's face again, fighting off of her chest as Kelly tries to trap the blonde along the corner and ropes. Emily keeps jabbing with her left and sending out her right to hammer at her foe's torso, trying to win the turning battle and use her long legs to pivot-left around Kelly. But, Minka bobbing and weaving to make VanCamp miss as EVC keeps getting drilled with swiping shots across her jugs or mitts bouncing off of her abs, forcing her to back up a bit as Minka wins the pivot-battle this round. Forcing Em right where she wants her and that's back up against the ropes as Minka starts to get some momentum, just slamming in steady shots to break up Em's rhythm. Emily scoring in spots again, but she is fighting cramped and smothered against the ropes under Minka's weight as she pushes off to end the round, meeting Em's cool stare with one of her own as things get closer after five.

R6: Minka rushes forward to try and continue building up momentum, but runs right into a hard jab that kicks her head backwards and sends her backpedaling slightly. Minka shaking her head back and forth to clear it, but doesn't get much of an opportunity as Emily pounces forward, ready to retaliate as she sends her gloves sweeping back and forth across Kelly's face. Battering her backwards as it's Kelly'ps turn to be pressed against the ropes, trying to leg her way to freedom but Em always in pursuit, just lathering her up against the strands as she keeps working her opponent over. Minka dazed from the impact of the shots and is polished up for another shutout as EVC responds forcefully to widen her lead after six. Emily pushes off all big-girl off of Minka with a little hint of a smile, with the two of them staring each other down as they head towards their respective corners.

R7: Minka clearly enraged at losing the momentum she'd worked hard on building last round and rockets across the ring, just pancaking Emily back into the corner at the bell. Em grunting as she is forced to suffer under Kelly's weight, trying to jab her way to freedom but Minka dipping down, just slamming in shots back and forth across Vancamp's abs. Planting her feet and twisting her hips, just battering away at blonde belly while Emily tries to twist her way out of the ropes. But, Minka isn't having it as she clips VanCamp's chin and dazes her a bit, bullying her back onto the ropes as the two of them shove against the ropes. Minka forcing VanCamp to take weight as she keeps smacking in her gloves aggressively, scoring with an answer shutout of her own!!

R8: Emily roaring back across the ring, just feeding Minka the left jab and then delivering the big right hand off of the jab, hooking Kelly across tummy and tits. Burying her mitts into Minka's ribcage with the right and then dazing her brunette rival up top by sweeping leather across her cheek, bobbing and circling clockwise around her foe. Minka initially pressed backwards into the ropes as she struggles to recover from the early assault and is forced to cover up, just trying to pivot her way out of trouble as she sponges up the punishment from Emily, lumping up a bit as VanCamp keeps stuffing shots towards her face with that heavy jab. The ref watching carefully Down the stretch, Minka manages to deliver a few shots ripping across Em's ribcage and forcing VanCamp to back up a bit as the two of them keep trading shots up to the bell, where the ref orders them apart and the round goes to Emily VanCamp wide.

R9: Minka definitely dazed, but it's Em coming a little slower off of the stool and it's Minka who is the aggressor this round as she bounces out to midring to confront VanCamp. Emily working on using her range to keep Minka back for a moment but Kelly just shoving and swinging her way inside VanCamp's guard to lower her head, then start stuffing in shots to VanCamp's taut tummy. Battering at her belly, scooping shots across her cleavage or clouting her across her cheek, it's all Minka as she tries to bully Em backwards against the ropes. Emily bringing up her gloves to cover up to weather up the storm but Minka using her shoulder to bump VanCamp out of position and just pouring it as she fights off of Esmily's chest and just pumping in steady shots to tummy. VanCamp clinching a bit and disrupting Minka's rhythm slightly to prevent her from closing things out, but Minka scores a much-needed shutout to take the penultimate round here.

R10: It's possible that Emily might have punched herself out going for the stoppage in the 8th round and of course, the beating she received last round hasn't helped matters as Minka knows she needs a knockout this round to take this contest. Stakes and tempers both high as they emerge from their respective corners, charging towards one another as the two of them trade effective punches with one another, engaging in a pivot-battle which VanCamp is winning initially, but Minka keeps up the pressure by whacking away at Em's ribcage and torso, starting to push her towards the ropes. VanCamp uses the jab to sort things out occasionally, just smacking her mitts into Kelly's face and stuffing shots towards her foe's tummy, trying to remain in an organized stance. However, down the stretch, Minka is simply outworking a clearly drained EVC as she keeps pounding away at VanCamp's head and shoulders, trying to take her down. VanCamp's own powerful legs keeping her upright and helping her to slide away from trouble, but Minka is the one on top as the bell rings and the two of them keep trading punches again. This one goes to the cards and Minka is furious when the decision comes back with her taking the tenth but the match going UD10 for Emily VanCamp!

After: It's an extremely close contest with both fighters getting five rounds apiece but it's that devastating 10-8 third round that makes the difference in this one. It's heart-breaking stuff for Minka, who glares over at VanCamp, silently enraged as Emily is not being demure here as she bellows with excitement, raising her fists up into the air for a moment, beaming out into the crowd as she looks out into the audience when features names like Troian Bellisario, Elizabeth Olsen, Amy Acker, Ashley Madekwe, Demi Lovato, Leighton Meester and Elisha Cuthbert, among others. Elisha Cuthbert, in fact, looks like she can barely restrain herself as VanCamp addresses the press, beaming, “Let me tell you something right now – Minka might be the tuffest of the cute and cutest of the tuff – given how close the match is, that's obvious. But, Minka gave me her best stuff and I gave her my best stuff – guess who came out on top? That's what alphas do and that's why I'm going to rule Lookout! and the bantamweight division just like I do the set of my show!” That's about as conciliatory as you can expect from Emily who continues addressing the press with both Elisha and Minka sharing a mutual look of enmity towards Emily. Anybody that can bring those two together might and probably should be worried, but VanCamp right now doesn't look like she has a care in the world as she leads her supporters in a chant of “E-V-C”!
