"BBU FIGHT NIGHT FROM BATH"

(Girls Friday vs Lioness Club)

Michelle started off her BBU career in style, took the welterweight crown In November 2010, and promptly lost it, since when her results have been very inconsistent, and her last title fight against Erika Heynatz saw her very badly beaten. Alex is another of those girls who has flattered to deceive, and she has lost all her fights this year.

Michelle’s first into the ring, the girl looking good in her black basque and knickers with matching gloves and boots – Alex has decided on a leopard print bikini with cream gloves and boots.

Round 1

The girls are both quite defensive as the fight starts, but Michelle starts to find Alex’s face with her jab first, and Alex is having to take a little punishment as she covers up on the ropes, managing to get a grip on Michelle to stop her. The girls resume after being broken by the referee, and this time Alex gets home with a couple of decent jabs, and she follows up with a heavy right cross, sending Michelle backwards, and now the blonde works on her girl, smacking her neatly with a one-two, and Michelle’s suffering here now, her head bobbing back and forth as Alex pops her, using her height well, and looking much the better boxer as the round closes.

Round 2

The girls are still looking a little reluctant to get in there and trade, with Michelle definitely backpedalling after that late beating she took in the opening round, and Alex is taking her on bigtime! The model is really lashing out at Ryan, gets home with a right hook on her mouth, then a left to her cheek, finds her mouth with another right, and sits Michelle on her butt. The actress is up fairly sharply at 4, but she has to accept that was a bona fide knockdown, not the slip she’s pretending it to be. Alex lands again as soon as Michelle regains her feet, cracking her again with that right hook, but this time Ryan stands her ground, and she gets home with her own punches, working on Curran’s body with some success in the closing stages.

Round 3

There’s no hesitation from either girl the opening seconds now, with Alex seeking out Michelle’s face for punishment, and Michelle looking for the model’s body – and it’s Michelle who lands the better punches in a solid trade – off, Alex having to move away this time, groaning as she feels the force of the actress’s punches to her ribcage, and she’s holding on, catching her breath as Michelle begins to show her class more. The referee separates the girls, but Michelle seems to have Alex’s measure now, and she lays into her body again, each thudding punch being followed by a grunt from Alex’s lips, and she looks relieved when the bell ends this round.

Round 4

Michelle comes out swiftly – and she’s bodyhunting again, moving Alex around the ring nicely, prodding those short hooks of hers into the blonde’s ribs and flanks, and she looks to be setting the girl up here for a battering on the ropes – but Alex gets herself out of trouble with a deft sidestep, and now she’s doing a number on the brunette, bopping her head around again, using her slight reach advantage, staying on her toes, and beginning to look like a good fighter again. In she comes, bangs Michelle on the forehead with her jab, and now hooks her to the chin – not hard enough to floor her, but the actress buckles a little at the knees, lucky that Alex’s left hook flashes past, rather than onto, her nose in the last seconds.

Round 5

These girls are now trading punches more easily, both looking confident – but it’s Michelle getting through with the harder punches in the opening exchange, her classic tactics of hitting Alex to the body before unloading on her face seeming to be paying off now, and she rips the blonde with a left hook, which staggers her. Alex needs to get herself off those ropes, but Michelle’s sensing the model’s vulnerability, and isn’t in the mood to let go, hits and hurts Alex with a left to her body, sweeps her face with a right hook, and down goes Alex, sliding down the ropes, onto her knees, hauling herself back upright at 7. Alex is no longer backed up to the ropes, but Michelle’s soon hitting her again, pokes her backwards, and shudders her to her toes with another right hook before the end of the round.

Round 6

Michelle reinforces her superiority now as she gives Alex a couple of good hooks to her face in the opening seconds of the round, switches down to her body, and now hits her in the mouth again, putting the blonde on her backside. Alex is up again at 7, but she’s clearly struggling to hang in with Michelle, who now gives the taller girl some more punishment to her body, the model gasping, her gloves starting to fall – in goes the right hook to her face, then the left, and Alex slumps backwards – and Michelle seems to think she’s done enough, because she doesn’t finish the blonde off, perhaps expecting her to go down again, but instead she recovers, holds on when Michelle does get in closer, and she hits the brunette to the face, left and right, but Michelle’s unhurt, and she smacks her right glove hard into Alex’s face again, stuns her, them hits her with her left – and Alex is cut, blood trickling from a cut in her right eyebrow, the blonde shying away from Michelle as the round closes.

Round 7

Michelle’s clubbing away at Alex’s damaged eye now, and the blood’s running quite freely down her cheek, luckily away from her eye, so that her vision’s not badly impaired, and the model counter-punches as Michelle gets in a little too close, rocking her with a good right cross. Michelle backs off, but she’s no less dangerous at arm’s length – and she bounces her jabs off Alex’s blood-stained features, the girl looking unsteady again, clinching hard as the pair get close, forcing the referee to part her from the actress. The girls swap punches again, but Alex is being outgunned now, and her right eye is beginning to close, Michelle again seeming to ease off at the point where she has the model at her mercy, and she lets Alex see out the round, permitting herself just a few punches to her body before the end of the round.

Round 8

Michelle’s moving so much better than Alex, but the big blonde’s making herself more difficult to hit now, covering up and protecting her damaged eye. Michelle’s frustrated, but she keeps her shape, continues to jab away, even though too many of her punches are landing on defensive gloves now. Again Alex clinches, leans into Michelle hard, and rams two straight shots into her belly, the actress reacting with a gasp, steps back and takes a short-arm uppercut on her chin, and now her legs do a little shimmy with Alex cracking away at her head, sending her backwards and into the ropes. Alex is turning this into a brawl, and now she’s cut Michelle, a thin cut on her left cheekbone, the blonde looking excited as she aims for the damage, certainly not in the same generous mood Michelle seemed to show when she had her bleeding in the previous round – this has offered Alex a way back into the fight, but is there time for her to take it? Not in this round, which is over.

Round 9

It’s Alex starting the better in this round, unloading a solid right hook on Michelle, knocking the girl backwards, and she follows up, attempting a big uppercut, which the brunette sways away from, and retaliates with a pair of swift hooks to Alex’s body, the blonde grunting and retreating, her elbows tucked into her ribs. But Michelle has her girl wounded now, and seems less generous than before, pushing and jabbing the model back across the ring, now seeking out her damaged eyebrow, thudding her left hook onto it once, twice, three times in quick succession, the wound now worsening – and she’s bleeding from another cut, this one under the eye, which is pretty much closed as the round draws to a close, Michelle now battering her hard in a neutral corner, where the action is paused once again.

Round 10

Alex is far enough behind to need a knockout to win this, and she’s come out very aggressively, swinging her gloves at Michelle’s head, the brunette evading her though, and thumping the model hard to the body, hurting her and bending her over. Alex manages to clinch now, but Michelle shoves her away, sets her back with a solid jab to the mouth, and she hurts her to the body again, hits her with a right hook first, then a left, and Alex slumps and drops to her knees, gasping for breath, wincing as she gets to her feet again, looking very tired as the count reaches 8, and now Michelle’s trying to finish her off, unloads on her body again, and now she whips the hooks into Alex’s face, the referee standing back, unsure as to whether to stop the fight. Alex take a beating as she backs into the corner, her face now scarlet with her own blood, and the bell ends her misery.

Result: Michelle Ryan beat Alex Curran on points.

That was a unanimous decision – but Michelle will need to ask herself why she didn’t knock Alex out. Alex herself can be proud of her performance, although that pretty face will need plenty of stitches as she is carried to a waiting ambulance.
