BBU FIGHT NIGHT FROM BATH

Can veteran campaigner Rachel stop Mandy in her tracks? Certainly the German girl swept Alexandra Burke away on her debut, and she’s very confident of putting Rachel away tonight.

Mandy’s first into the ring, the girl wearing a yellow and black bikini with yellow gloves and black boots, soon joined by Rachel in scarlet bustier and knickers, white gloves, white boots.

Round 1

Mandy’s showing Rachel no respect, and she’s straight at the older girl’s body, smacking punches into that scarlet bustier, and she’s moving her girl around neatly, pokes her in the face with her left glove, and follows that with a lovely right hook to her flank, Rachel raising her left leg off the floor as she cringes in pain. Mandy keeps at Rachel’s body, thudding her punches in, even though the Brit has her gloves down low to protect herself, and she clinches whenever possible, her face appearing on Mandy’s shoulder, eyes scrunched tightly shut as she tries to take a break, but the referee easily parts the girls, and Mandy’s straight at Rachel’s body again, and this girl is really going about her business here, not showy in the slightest, just classically weakening her opponent, who looks very dispirited at the end of that opening round.

Round 2

Rachel’s on her toes more now, and this is making Mandy look more like the novice she is – she can’t get to the swift dancing Brit, who skips out of trouble, snapping out her own jab as well now, the German girl frowning as she gets a face full of white leather. But Mandy is closing Rachel down skilfully, has her cornered – and the girls trade shots for the first time, Mandy getting the better of it as she knocks Rachel’s head back and back, but to her credit, the Brit refuses to cover up, and it’s her left uppercut which ends the trade in a positive manner, Mandy the one hanging on in there now, with Rachel looking pleased with herself, and she’s still looking happy as the referee pulls Mandy away, flails a loose right hook at her – then eats a crisp one-two from the younger girl, the grin disappearing from her lips immediately.

Round 3

Now Mandy knows she can hurt Rachel, she attacks her early, ignoring the older girl’s counter-punches, and she hurts her with a good straight right, Rachel’s head snapping backwards, and that reveals a lot of body for Mandy to hit – and hit she does, crushing Stevens with one, two, three unanswered punches to the belly, and that’s put the older girl down, gasping and retching on all fours as the referee counts her to 7. Rachel’s up, but she’s unsteady, and Mandy’s giving her ribcage a beating again, her hard hooks smacking in and taking the wind out of Rachel’s lungs – she’s down again! Mandy nailed her with a left to the liver, then gave her a short right uppercut to the jaw, and that’s sat Stevens down on the canvas, the distress clear as she gets back to her feet, insisting she’s OK to continue after a count of 8. Mandy has a few seconds left, but she still tries to hurt Rachel some more, the Brit just about seeing it through to the bell.

Round 4

Despite the drubbing she took in round three, Rachel’s still bouncing, and she jabs at Mandy’s face as the girls meet again in the centre of the ring. But Mandy’s not troubled by those punches, and she hooks Rachel to the body hard with her left, the older girl’s gloves dropping as she reacts to that, and Mandy swiftly nails her with a one-two to the face, and it’s all too much for Rachel, the British girl on her back, and counted out.

Result: Mandy Capristo knocked Rachel Stevens out in round 4.

How good is Mandy Capristo? She’s beaten two jobbers so far, but that was still a good performance tonight, because she controlled Rachel Stevens, battered her body until she had nothing left, then finished her off. The German girl is strutting around the ring, barely glancing at the sobbing Rachel, who sits on her stool, being berated by trainer Gail Kim.
