BEFORE: A voluptuous brunette Julia Goerges is known for her hard-punching and aggressive style but it didn't help her against Maria Kirilenko at the Olympics last year. Fast forward fifteen months and she's back in the ring again with the lanky & slender-limbed Daniela Hantuchova destined to suffer at her hands. That's Julia's take anyway as she dismisses the blonde's creditentials: "I will turn Daniela into my punchbag, just lay into her and see how much she takes before her eyes bawl to the orbit. And I guess she'll fold like a house of cards once I start roughing her up! Her punch resistance is beyond pathetic and needs some exposure tonight!"

However the Slovakian blonde has beaten Ana Ivanovic before and thinks Julia is just a carbon copy of the Serbian vixen: "I know those girls. Spoiled brunettes who think they can punch me out! I don't think Julia realizes how I handled Ana and I won't surprise anyone by saying that I will do the same with her tonight. Just slug the stuffing out of her until she can't breathe and then finish her off once and for all!"

Round 1:
Daniela's blonde ponytail goes for an early trip around her neck as Julia strikes over the top and not only gives the older girl a proper guard test but actually slices it in fine style and bounces off the cheeks, ups the tempo even further and doesn't let Hantuchova's longer reach much chance; forces the Slovakian to back away but misses that big shot to the temples and has to chase her down afterwards. Hantuchova uneasy with the early harrasement but should have expected that and Julie beats her for another overhand combo, bangs jabbing series on the cheeks and whips an uppercut that once again fails to connect and enables Daniela to step away and circle around on the back foot with the first round showing Goerges' mean intentions to a much greater extent.

Round 2:
Daniela strikes on the head early but crashes off the guard, tries to switch low but eats a counter hook on the brow ridge and covers up, doesn't do much with her feet and falls into more confident jabbing from the German, Julia finds her rhythm again and pummels between the arms, slices the Slovakian's defence and lands that uppercut on the jaw to spin the ponytail around; chaotic slaps from Daniela make no impression as she skims off the forearms and receives more rough treatment upstairs with Julia slamming mitts against the cheeks and leaving pink marks on the otherwise pale skin. The ammount of punches proves to be the name of the game for Goerges who just outworks her rival in close range, forces her back but still reaches out after her with a flying hook, adds another uppercut on the jaw and has Hantuchova trembling at the bell and looking totally overwhelmed thus far.

Round 3:
Julia seeks more damage, closes the blonde down and rips into her tummy, changes her targets and finds success anyway as the Slovakian struggles to keep up with the high intensity; she misses a simple hooking combo on the head, Julia weaves away quickly and sends ribcage leather from the side, bounces off the navel on top of that and staggers a hapless looking Hantuchova in the middle of the ring and whacks her between the arms, tags the chin and spins the ponytail back, follows up with more jabs on the temples, clips the eye too and makes Daniela lose her footing, arms drop low as well and a cross-hooking combo from point blank range SENDS THE SLOVAKIAN ON HER KNEES as she's finally gotten exposed over the limit... Goerges barks in delight and shakes her glove in front of the fallen opponent, pink-faced Daniela beats the count at six but falls into more heavy jabbing on the chest and covers up before getting pushed to the ropes and it's non-stop Julia who cleans out the Slovakian's tummy, tries to land more punches on the head but bounces off the mitts and settles into keeping her trapped on the ropes instead.

Round 4:
All the talk before the fight has resulted in absolutely nothing for the Slovakian as Julia tags her on the eye seconds into the fourth, sends more jabs over the top afterwards and snaps the head back, adds another combo on the navel and bends an aching Hantuchova forward, slams her against the mitts and right on the chin, wobbly-knees time for the older girl as Goerges peppers her head over the top and reels back to the ropes where she hammers away around the elbows; Daniela lowers her guard but closes her eyes already as she's in visible pain with all the punches thrown at her tonight, fails to spot another uppercut on the chin, subsequently sags on her knees and enables Goerges to catch her on the left eye with a mammoth hook.. Hantuchova bends to the side and just can't keep her arms high enough with the brunette just piercing her defence and snapping the head back repeatedly in the final minute, even the blonde's groans are hard to take already but she somehow avoids another knockdown, sports extended facial swelling though and Julia bullies her to her corner during the interval having dominated this bout in hard-to-predict fashion.

Round 5:
Daniela's slow off her stool and fails to trouble the German with some weak hooks that slip past the target, Julia goes for another ribcage assault and staggers the blonde on the spot, throws uppercuts on the chin but for once lacks precision, skims off the chest anyway and adds more leather on the navel with Hantuchova quickly losing another exchange as she tries to respond over the top but misses by a mile and opens up for the brunette to strike her on the eye with a cross-hooking counter, more ponytail snapping time; Goerges fires away from both arms and outworks her foe again, leaves more facial lumps as Hantuchova stumbles onto the ropes and soaks up more punishment with Julia slamming gutwrenchers on the stomach and just sinking the blonde on her knees; vicious leather on the ribcage follows as Daniela's trapped butt-in-ropes and just moaning her heart out which only fuels the German's attacks; one last punch on the eye right at the death leaves Hantuchova spinning on the turnbuckles but Goerges runs out of time to finish her off for good and shows her anger during the interval; on the other hand Daniela looks completely spend in the opposite corner.

Round 6:
There's very little left in the blonde's tank as Julia has enjoyed a free ride to glory tonight and she snaps the ponytail arond the neck again with more jabbing on the head, keeps slicing the mitts apart and Daniela loses her footing, can't jump away from the German's striking zone and falls into another chest pummelling on the minute mark; Goerges doing all she can to seemingly chop her foe in half as the blonde's wincing increases even further. Jaw-shattering uppercut half way through leaves Hantuchova wobbling again and Julia simply rips into her guts thereafter, fakes a facial assault and slips under the Slovakian's elbows as Daniela looks to be bawling out into punchbag mode and fails to spot the easy trick, eats more jabs on the stomach and shrieks in pain, doing the best Azarenka & Sharapova combo; Julia just punches her towards the ropes, dekes under one last punch from the blonde that was just thrown for the sake of it and nails her on the jaw one more time... DROPS HANTUCHOVA LIKE A SACK OF POTATOES and Daniela can barely hold back the tears as she rolls onto her back and makes no effort to beat the count.. Landslide KO6 Julia Goerges!!!

AFTER: Furious display from the German that rolls back some years straight to Steffi Graf's heyday. She managed to bully Daniela Hantuchova since the opening bell and just like she said beforehand, just layed into her and was able to knock her out while still having plenty of strenght left. That was a poor showing from the Slovakian though who never seemed comfortable against such an aggressive and confident opponent and pretty much sums up her troublesome career lately and displays her as a shadown of the once elite athlete. All credit to Goerges for exposing that fact in very commanding fashion tonight.
