Before: Shahi the prohibitive favourite, but Megan's not intimidated. "Sarah won't be able to bully me," Fox promises in prefight. "She'll try - she's an intimidator - but I'll shove that stuff right back in her face and make her fight. I don't feel like I've shown my best fighting yet, and I'm very under-rated. I guarantee you, Sarah's not going to feel like a favourite once I start hitting her."

Shahi entering as one of boxing's dominant champions: she's not interested in turning over the belts for the holidays. "I rule with an iron fist," Sarah shrugs at podium. "I'm taking apart the division girl by girl, and Megan's not going to rewrite this script. I will say though, that Megan possesses pride and fire you don't see in every fighter. She thinks of herself as champion, and that's half the battle. Unfortunately for her, the other half is beating me."

Retro-nite for both fighters - Shahi in black hipster-fit trunks; sturdy black halter; small black gloves; black shoes with short white socks; scrappy ponytail with messy bangs. During R1: Meg finds some luck with a swinging hook early - chunking it palm-down onto Sarah's chin. Shahi sputtering on the spot, takes an extra hook, then a chopping right hand...now Fox is in grabbing Sarah's right arm with the left hand/pushing Sarah's face with the right to get champ ropeside. Megan digging to Sarah's breadbasket right/right/left, then kissing the broad right cross off Shahi's mouth, rocking her spellbound against ropes. Sarah staring, hurt...she's trying to poke the right hand onto Megan's mouth; pushing with Megan's arms, but Fox all over the champ. Steady lashing beat of Megan's fists pelts Sarah's ribs, bashes off her head and CHAMP GOES DOWN! Shahi beaten to hands and knees as Fox stoops-with, mocking the descent until ref moves in. Shaky 8, Sarah Shahi: final minute sees her standing like a hobo on the ring apron, covering up hurt, suffering as Megan applies limber-limbed lather to bell. Seething eye-contact Megan to Sarah: Fox letting champ know it ain't gonna come easy tonight.

R2: Sarah shaking off hurt, comes out well recovered. Right hand at chin, Sarah's jab-jabbing into Megan's chest; crouching in to carry right hand PAK! to breadbasket while sliding left thumb into Megan's waistband at the hip, pushing her back. Sarah with the trunk-tugging hold-and-hit scores brawny little right hands in close: Megan eventually freeing her trunks, pushing on Sarah's biceps, then lashing her amidships right/left. Strong, sinewy stuff from two sleek competitors who are electing to go at one another brawny...constant PIK! PAK! PEK! of small gloves sounding out from well-toned bodies. Close round goes to Shahi by a hair: both vixens warned for gripping the hip or back of the opponent's waistband to control her position for punishment.

R3: Bruising stuff from fit little whippets as neither girl's doing a lot of dancing. Sarah going tuff at her girl - beating Megan a pair of right hands PAK! PAK! to firm little tummy as Megan's covering up; dipping in on front (left) leg to crank left hooks up into ribs PIK! PAK! Fox ashen-faced, showing bleak eyes as Sarah storms the ribcage - Shahi lithe on the attack, dragging her right foot behind her as her hooks-to-body drive Megan back. Fox fighting off ropes latter half the round...Shahi on her with bobbing hooks off the lead (left) leg - digging and redigging that sticky left hook into stubborn Megan-meat. Bell: Fox blinking away tears, tummy and ribs hot-pink from punishment. Glare from Sarah Shahi as girls part lets Megan know that first round won't go unpunished.

R4: Grim brutality from sleek vixens continues - driven by Sarah's insistence that she'll have Megan's body tonight. Shahi rolling her shoulders to lap right/lefts against tummy. Sarah stepping in off the jab, swinging a limber left 'round Megan's right elbow. Sarah's left hand holding Megan's bottoms at the hip or slightly 'round the back while the right hand plunders taut tummy. Megan answering back in kind - small mitts chopping and skidding off Shahi's ribcage inside and outside of Sarah's left elbow...Megan getting a particularly hurtful buggywhip sidearm right high into Shahi's left-side lats. Down the stretch, Sarah salts it away when a left uppercut in tight buzzes Megan's legs. Fox staggering away all how-could-you eyes, hitting ropes right-shoulder-first, covering up face-in-gloves while Sarah slams hateful right hands to back while pushing her left hand against Megan's guard.

Miley Cyrus tweets: "Somebody make Megan/Miley all ready! I'd D-stroy her! #mileyBbangin"

R5: Megan dries her eyes, comes out fighting: she's refusing to be discouraged tonight. More grim determination from both girls, hooking up collar-and-elbow midring to push for position, then dig brutal right hands to midsection out of the clinch. Megan liberal with Sarah's trunks - pulling Shahi forward out of her stance; spinning her; holding the hip or back of the trunks to stabilize Shahi for right hands underneath. Sarah stumbling about more often this round, getting a little ragdolled: Megan's body-lather taking it's effect, beating a cranky little frown of hurt onto Sarah's beautiful face through 5.

R6: Sarah methodically chipping her way in behind the jab; chopping home the straight right, then managing the slop as the girls clinch-and-stagger. Out of the grasp it's just grim hold-and-hit - left hands securing trunks while right hands pound throbbing torsos. After ref's breaks, girls are separated...Shahi controlling these moments with her jab - just dutifully knocking at Megan's face, then stepping in righty to renew hostilities inside. Bell: both girls steaming hot from effort and punishment, but Shahi's chiseling out the close points.

R7: Sarah takes Megan to ropes, refusing to let her up...Shahi grimly determined to use up the last her foe's reserves. Harsh stuff - Sarah's head under Megan's chin much of the round; Sarah's hands pushing at Megan's inner-elbows or hips, steadying her for the beats to come. Shahi's left hand will grip at Megan's slender right bicep while Sarah's right digs at breadbasket - then champ will alternate hand-position, holding right/digging left. Megan grimacing, constantly pushed and bullied - occasionally beaten buns-into-ropes and taking with an agonized expression. At the bell, Sarah's tucked in tight, working with her head on Megan's chest, hands pitching steady right/lefts to midsection. Poor Fox numb, stooped forward, hands raised, arms riding either side of Sarah's shoulders as Shahi works until ref pulls her off. Credit to Megan during the break - she's in tears, hugging her ribs, but when ref asks if she'd like to submit, Fox snarls "NO!"

R8: FOX BATTLES BACK! Midring, stooping forward pate to pate - girls reaching in to push at opposing inner-elbows, then Megan's kissing Sarah little right uppercuts to face, stunning her. Fox stepping Sarah back to ropes - reaching in under Shahi's arms; pushing Sarah's face or arms; digging righty on the march. Ropes: Sarah bleak, frustrated...she's groaning, tying up as Megan's SO insistent - Fox methodically pulling the guard apart, pushing the arms aside, then lighting up the torso all limber-limbed and sticky. Sarah stricken, face pinched and drowsy as she absorbs: Fox manages to go bell to bell, paying back of the beating she received last round in kind. Ref has to pull Megan off to enforce the break, leaving champion slumped and hurting in ropes.

R9: Sarah chips her way in with the jab; chunks that wide right roundhouse in above Fox's left hip; slides the left arm in under Megan's right to crowd close and work inside. Fox grimacing, giving ground...she's soon foundering on the ropes, unable to get out from under her tormentress. Sarah working methodically - beating Megan rights and lefts to waistline; muscling Megan back with the left shoulder/extended left elbow; occasionally using the grip on the back of Megan's trunks to sit her back down into ropes when she's trying to push forward. Oh those shoving right hands! Sarah just pumpin' 'em in - her left hand securing the back of Megan's trunks while Fox's arms drape Sarah's shoulders/back. It's all too much...Shahi in there strong, pitching away to body; slamming the odd hot right cross in tight to chin...poor Foxie goes limp on her feet. Megan eventually swooning down knees-and-face - her rump high as Shahi's late giving up her grip on the back of the trunks. KO9 for the winner and still champ, Sarah Shahi.

After: Shahi often cold to those she conquers, but she's got a hug and praise for battered Megan in the Fox corner. "That girl came to fight," Sarah admits, face puffy, body pink from Megan's exertions. "Megan takes a lot of crap from the press and other girls, but you can't take anything away from her tonight. She came out to stop my ass in the first round, I mean, she was punching to win it right away. Took control away from her after that but it was hard, bitterly contested ground...it's like Megan Fox felt like every inch of canvas was worth dying for. I beat her down like the rest, but she's not like the rest - not tonight she wasn't. She gave me a good honest fight - more than I gave her credit for coming in."
