Due our work schedule and social commitments, we don’t have time to due our usual PPV review. Instead we will make some random observations as to the way we saw things.
Rachel Bilson closed out the year on the positive side with three straight KO wins. That should give her a bump in the Boxing World Rankings
A marvelous recovery by Jennifer Morrison from a horrendous first round to KO her victory over her opponent. We would like to see more of Miss Morrison in the upcoming year
I predicted that Jamie Alexander would lose to Gretzky. Then I saw Thor. I changed my mind, but it was too late. The predictions had already been made. I turned out to be right, however I have to take a big wrong on the prediction. Damn, I should have gone to the movie sooner
When I do the rankings, Odette Yustman just never seems to come to mind. She has now won five of her last six. Need to keep an eye on her
Seyfried second round KO loss was disastrous for her in Front Street’s year of evaluation. It wouldn’t surprise me to see her get her walking papers. There is no way Front Street management can sugar coat this loss and they didn’t try. Losing to Wilkinson is like getting KOed by your shadow
Britney Spears is a busy girl in the holiday season. She won a decision in the PPV, but it wasn’t easy as she had to survive a sixth in which she was down twice. Next up, she has Jessica Simpson in the Fight Before Christmas PPV. I don’t expect her to have as much of a problem against Simpson as she did against Vandervoort
While Claire Holt had two bouts in late 2012, she can basically be considered a 2013 rookie and she certainly had an prosperous year going 7-2 with an impressive list of victims. If I was doing a bantam year end review, I would have to make her my rookie of the year, but then I admit I am not as knowledgeable about bantams as my fiancé, Alahandro Bartholomew Hay better known as Smackey
Lucy Liu is one of the all time great flyweights, but age catches up with everyone. She won her last fight, which made some think she that she could make a comeback at the age of 44. Sarah Carter definitely put an end to that delusion. I can give Liu credit in that she picked a very dangerous fighter to climb in the ring with but it went South for her,.
Portman/ Johansson. A tale of two fighters, one who will probably soon be recognized as one of the greats and the other, one who has never lived up to her promise. When the two meet, fighting class is evident
I had Freeman picked as the winner of this bout and at the last minute changed my mind. There is a lesson in that. Go with the first impression. Freeman should stay high in the rankings.
The flyweight title was usually a very slippery title. That was until a Texan named Sarah Shahi decided to give the FCBA a try. After a fine 2012, she had a spectacular 2013. She has reeled off seven straight wins all by KO. She won the title and now has had four successful defenses. That’s more consecutive defenses than Natalie Portman has had.
Congratulations to Rachel McAdams on winning her fifth unified bantam title. I just noticed that in her first title reign, she had eight successful defenses. At to Miss Munn, I hear she upset my friend and broadcast mate, JMac. Does Mac have a right to be irate when Munn had McAdams out on her feet in the seventh and couldn’t finish? Yeah probably
I am conflicted about Strahovski. In my predictions on the Fight Before Christmas PPV, I said she was overrated. In my prediction for this fight, while I predicted a Nichols win, I said it was a 50/ 50 fight. So I am in a position of saying she is a overrated fighter but even match with the champion. A inconsistency? Congratulations to Yvonne on winning her second unified lightweight title. Now she is going to fight Winstead in the Fight Before Christmas card. Lookout, it you read this, would you let us know if that will be a title fight?
I’m very fond of the Wiz. He is my mentor, but we have had a disagreement on the Arterton fight. An Arterton win was a given. The only surprise was that Theron lasted at least ten rounds. Arterton gains very little. There is no dispute among anyone that Theron is the greatest of all time, but she is now only a shadow of her former greatness. She is getting beaten regularly. In the last two years her win ratio is barely over 50%. Her deterioration has been mentioned by Blond Magazine and the Commissioner. It was a great fight. Theron gave it her all, but it wasn’t good enough. Arterton was the better fighter. This well may be the fight that should end the GOAT’s career, but management won’t see it that way. They will have her continue to fight and she will win a fight now and then, but her legacy will be cheapened to the extent there is no legacy left |
