TESS VALMORE
SIMPSON/ SPEARS I must say that Britney looked great in her silver ring wear but Jessica dear, you would have looked sensational in black, red or even blue, but pink? Jessica, you really need to change you stylist. Enough of fashion criticism. There was a fight for supremacy between two blond vocalists. Simpson came out as the clear aggressor working on Spears’ body for the first three rounds and have success as Spears fought a defensive fight. By the fourth round, Simpson having spent a considerable amount on energy started slowing down and Spears took over. Spears spent round four and five damaging Simpson to the body and then simply took Simpson apart in the sixth. Simpson was offering nothing in return and the fight was stopped, the referee awarding Spears a TKO. After the fight, you couldn’t tell where Simpson’s attire left off and her body began. They were both pink
MEESTER/ FOX My fiancé, in his awesome Boxing World’s Year End Rewards, picked Meester as the fighter who would have a better year in 2014. Meester’s bad 2013 got worse in her last bout of the year. She came out as the aggressor in the first and had Fox on the defensive, not as a tactic, but just trying to survive Meester’s punches. Meester continued her assault for two minutes of the second. Then Fox landed a right uppercut and less than a minute later Meester was in shambles and the fight was stopped
TISDALE/ PORTMAN Portman is not mentioned as a legendary fighter like Theron or is her name is ever mentioned in the P4P category. but all she does is win a lot of fights. Tisdale is a good fighter, but this night she ran into an awesome Portman. Portman dominated the fight from the opening bell. Tisdale did the best she could, but she simply couldn’t handle Portman, as Portman took the first three rounds, including a second round knockdown. By the middle of the fourth, Tisdale was slumping in the ropes, unable to defend herself and the fight was stopped. I do think the post fight humiliation was unnecessary. I’m a little disappointed that it happened
WILLIAMS/ HUDGENS. The tenor of this fight can be described in one word, Hate. This was a war. The first four rounds were furious punching rounds which were split between the two. Williams managed to win the fifth, then decked Hudgens in the sixth. An unrecovered Hudgens lost the seventh, but then managed to come back to win the eighth. By the ninth Hudgens didn’t have much left and Williams went on a rampage until Hudgens was a complete wreck, and the referee mercifully stepped into save her from further punishment. That there was going to be a post fight humiliation was a given. Everyone knows I am not a fan of humiliations. This one went way to far
DOBREV/ LOTZ This was Lotz’s first fight. In my predictions, I said that Dobrev could end this fight anytime she wanted to. So I sat through ten rounds with my mouth open at Lotz’s performance. For the first four rounds she battered Dobrev taking a huge early lead. Dobrev finally got in the cards in the fifth and took the sixth. Lotz put the fight away be taking the seventh and ninth rounds, Dobrev had to have a knockout in the final round. It was not to be and Lotz pulled off a huge upset in taking the decision. There was also some post fight activities as the two fighters and their backers got into a brawl. I guess that was to be expected from anyone from CW
WILDE/ M. KELLY I was looking forward to this bout between two top bantams. I expected a highly competitive fight. That’s not the way it went. Minka floored Olivia in the opening minute. Olivia never recovered. Kelly kept the pressure on Wilde for the rest of the first round and the two following rounds, In the opening minute of the fourth, Kelly came out of a crouch with a huge hook that landed on Wilde’s chin and the fight was over as Wilde was counted out. That performance should get the attention of the new champ, McAdams. Will it give her an idea for her first defense or an idea of someone to avoid?
VANCAMP/ VANASSE It will surprise no one that I have never seen an episode of Revenge. Have to check it out on Netflix. After checking IMDB, it appears the VanCamp is the headliner. In this bout she made it quite clear, she is the headliner as she handled Vanasse a good reason to end her FCBA career here. The two spent the first two rounds seeing what the other was going to bring. At the beginning of the third, VanCamp had seen enough. She punched Vanasse around the ring for a 10-8 round and continued in the fourth, until the referee saw that Vanasse was unresponsive and called a halt to the fight.
McADAMS/ CUTHBERT McAdams is the new bantam champ, but since this fight was booked before she won the title, it was a non-title fight. Cuthbert was beside herself in that she had fought McAdams three times before and never beat her. Certainly, she would win this one. Four peats are extremely rare in the FCBA, It was an entertaining fight. After the two split the first four rounds, McAdams reeled off three straight rounds, including a seventh round knockdown. Cuthbert won rounds eight and nine but needed at least a knockdown in the tenth to have a chance at winning. McAdams played the tenth smart. She stayed away from Cuthbert, refusing to engage in slugging. At the end of the round, the decision came down for McAdams. Cuthbert loses her fourth straight to the new champ
PEREGRYM/ J. KELLY Joanne, hasn’t had many fights and many opponents, but ever since I saw her take Ruah apart, I have maintained she was a criminally underused fighter. While I predicted a Peregrym win, this result certainly didn’t surprise me. An upset, yes but to my mind not a shocking one. I think that Kelly is that good. Missy almost ended the fight in the first round when she floored Kelly, but couldn’t finish. Kelly made a remarkable recovery between rounds and took the second round. In the middle of the third, Kelly landed a hard right to Peregrym’s head that had Missy hurt. Kelly made sure she didn’t recover, lashing Peregrym with punch after punch until the fight was stopped. Peregrym loses her third fight in a row for the first time. It happens to the best. I have to compliment both fighters for the good sportsmanship that the two showed after the decision. They demonstrated that they have a lot of class. That’s why I admire both Missy and Joanne. Now let’s hope that IFFI doesn’t return Kelly to inactivity.
STRAHOVSKI/ WINSTEAD Like the McAdams fight, Strahovski won the lightweight title in the last PPV and since this fight was booked prior to the PPV, the bout was non title. That was indeed fortunate for Yvonne. The last bout of the night was a fun bout to watch. While not exactly close, it was action filled. After losing the first round, Winstead decked Strahovski in the second and battered her almost at will for the next three rounds, but was unable to finish. Yvonne started a comeback in the sixth when she floored Winstead. Unfortunately for the blonde, her comeback didn’t last into the seventh, when Winstead put her on the canvas. Strahovski’s only hope of winning was going to be a knockout. After falling further behind in losing the ninth, Yvonne finally came on strong in the tenth, but Winstead survived the round to get a wide decision. Winstead has now taken five of the eight bouts that have been fought between these two. Will this be a long running rivalry re some of Theron’s greatest or will it end now?
Many thanks for Lookout for this card. While he has done many fine cards in the past, in my opinion, it was his best thus far. Makes me look forward to the next. |
