The most experienced fighter in the whole of BBU seeks a complete destruction of another shapely blonde and there's no difference for Alesha Dixon if her targeted rival has only two fights on the record. Amii Grove stopped Amy Childs in four rounds back in March and send abusive comments on twitter when Alesha needed five rounds to knock Childs out few months later and that was enough for the former bantamweight champion to lure Grove into the ring tonight.

Denise van Outen thinks that Amii goes way over her head against the Beever's Babes' pin-up girl but if the West Midlands blonde can punch as good as she looks, then Alesha might be in for a real surprise, something she's been through before. The 35 year old veteran suffered a lean spell in the summer losing to Charlotte Church and Emma Glover which derailed her title bid for the time being but a vicious KO of Sophie Monk on the Ashes reminded everyone she's still a force to be reckoned with. However Amii has other ideas and shows the singer no respect whatsoever during the introductions and announces plans to smother the life out of Dixon once she knocks her out!

Round 1:
Dixon rides the Ashes mojo, closes the blonde down and while Grove seems keen to apply similar tactics and just whack the singer into stupor, she soaks up the first big punch of the night as Alesha slams her on the chin and throws a flurry of leather to make an early statement. Heavy slaps test the blonde's guard before Alesha swings low and begins to menace around the ribcage as Grove struggles to stretch her elbows and falls into a proper midriff assault, squeals in discomfort as Dixon moves upstairs again and targets the chin but crashes off the mitts. Unfazed, she pours in around the elbows again and really gives the blonde a lesson in boxing, moves well to avoid a spiking attempt on her own tummy and blasts a fine uppercut to reel the model into mid-range where Amii's forced into some quick footwork just to prevent the older girl from inflicting more damage.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Amii's inexperience shows as she tries to outwork the ex-champ in close range, lacks accuracy and gets clobbered on the ribcage instead as Alesha really enjoys slamming those mitts against the blonde's flesh. Grove forced on the back foot early, swings over the top but just can't catch the singer's head and soaks up more leather on the belly, staggers to the side and seeks a clinch but Alesha shows some core strenght and shoves her away, reaches out with a single hand and works on the high guard, leaps forward to shove the model into the ropes and drills her tummy for a while before a wincing Amii can finally clinch her and see out the round.

Round 3:
That's two down the gutter for the blonde but she goes for another trade-off with the singer, even Denise van Outen looks puzzled in the booth but a crisp uppercut catches the champ napping and snaps her head back in the middle of a hectic exchange, Grove strikes over the top afterwards, slams heavy jabs against the left eye and forces Dixon to weave around on her feet as the blonde leans forward and throws some ribcage venom herself, bumps into the singer with her chest, and a loaded chest that is, turns her to the side and sends a huge left hook on the temple to see Alesha tremble briefly, quick flurry downstairs signals versatile prospects and Alesha is forced to seek a clinch at the two minute mark having been caught with another hook from the right hand that thankfully only skimmed off her nose. Grove with a head of steam thereafter, shoves the older girl into the ropes and digs more leather against the ribcage as Dixon tries to wrestle her to the ground to halt the unexpected charge and Amii really looks like having no fear nor respect for the BBU's pin-up girl here. Ref separates the two vixens just before the bell and Alesha hasn't really dwarfed her opponent mentally nor physically despite a strong start.

Round 4:
Another leather bashing in the middle of the ring as Alesha's forced into accepting a quick flurry of shots on the ribcage, misses an uppercut piledriver and wobbles forward as the blonde dances around her and cracks a right hand over the top to nail the singer on the nose. More leather follows as Grove finds her rhythm and stride in close range and pummels on the breadbasket, swings around the chin with Alesha's head spinning back & forth and the youth tops the experience with the blonde lashing out at the cleavage after another furious leap and a subsequent bump has the singer wobbling on the ropes. Amii beats her for an overhand left and tags the chin, immediate follow up from the right hand catches Dixon on the eye... EX-CHAMP'S HURT as she leans forward with her arms going wayward and Grove slams uppercuts on the chin to whip Alesha back against the ropes and falling into a clean cross-hook on the nose... DIXON'S DOWN ON HER KNEES and even the Girls Aloud members stop their joyful chat in the front seats as another Beevers' veteran might be heading down the exit tunnel... not yet though, Alesha's seen it all before and gets up at six, pierces the model with a grim look but has to cover up before long as Grove keeps her pinned on the ropes and bashing away in red mist mode but lacks precision again and fails to hurt the singer again even though she has Dixon right where she wants her now.

Round 5:
Grove pours in with overhand jabbing as Dixon tries to come back immediately after the bell but gets slammed on the left eye and loses her balance again, wobbles to the side and falls into sheer fury from the blonde, wide hooks punish the ribcage area and split the mitts on the minute mark with Amii reeling the veteran back onto the ropes and going for the facial assault. Dixon weaves on her feet like she can't do anything else here but the methodical and repeated nature of the attacks proves superior, head-snapping back & forth before a clubbing right hook tears the skin on Dixon's left cheek; Grove in a world of her own just lays it into the ex-champ and shows no signs of fatigue. Alesha feels the sudden swelling on her cheek and applies more defence, allows the model to trap her on the ropes and just soaks up punishment as it's almost too easy for the younger girl but she just can't find that clean shot anymore despite reducing the singer into a training partner and punishing her all the way through the round. Alesha's a wounded species at the bell with her cheek looking quite bad with that cut and the Cardiff Arena crowd expects the blonde girl to continue with this assault at the ex-champ's expense.

Round 6:
Dixon in survival mode, reverts into her footwork just like Lisa Maffia did but actually manages to stay away from the blonde's striking zone as Amii looks very upset but lacks the composure needed to make the singer pay. Loud set of jeers at the minute mark clearly indicate that Alesha's duck & weave tactics make her no friends in the audience but the experience comes to the fore and Grove can only graze her flesh, settles down in the final minute and perhaps won't seek a highlight KO just yet, keeps the scorecards on her side and whether Dixon likes it or not, she won't win this fight avoiding the action... last thirty seconds and a sudden flurry of leather catches the blonde off guard, head-snapping assault has the crowd on their feet and Alesha rolls back some years to show exactly why she's been the pound-for-pound top vixen a while ago as she buries a couple of uppercuts on the model's chin to leave Amii's eyes wide open at the bell. Dixon's not dead yet?

Round 7:
Late push for glory continues as Alesha leaps into the blonde's guts with an epic all-or-nothing charge and pummels the chest with heavy close range uppercuts; Grove leans forward as usual but has to cover up soon with the singer mauling her cleavage through the minute mark. Dixon fully catches the second wind and unloads a proper barrage thereafter with the model trapped butt-in-ropes and unable to stretch her elbows; Alesha pierces the guard and seeks facial damage, wants to cut the blonde up the same way she suffered before but Amii's got some punch resistance too, despite enduring a rough head-snapping session she tries to bump herself into the singer's chest again, gets drilled on the mouth but lands a left hook on the chin and manages to see out the onslaught. Dixon drops her charge a bit in the final minute, reverts into single punching but still keeps the model pinned and unable to respond, the heavy slapping takes it's toll on both fighters now as they fall into a late clinch but the knockdown still favors the blonde and Alesha knows it best.

Round 8:
Amii doesn't want to run the scorecards down and jumps from her stool to catch Alesha with a swift overhand and if the ex-champ thought her comeback in the seventh was enough to tame the blonde for good, she's up for an ugly surprise as another flurry of leather whips her to the side as Grove pours in with jug mauling assault, switches high and tags the chin before slamming more jabs between the arms and just slaying the guard with Alesha wobbling forward, angry scream from the blonde as she whacks her foe on the patched up cheek and opens the cut again, slams more punches between the mitts and snaps Dixon's head back, right hand on the nose AND ALESHA'S DOWN AGAIN flat on her back, paying heavy prize for getting caught in the close range.. surely no way back for the ex-champ now as Amii's eyes glow amid some breath catching efforts. The veteran refuses to give up the fight though, gets back on her feet at seven and rips into an immediate counter after the command as Grove looked to have it secured by now... more head-snapping follows from both girls as they bash each other in the middle of the ring and it's a matter of pride for the ex-champ who just won't accept getting broken mentally by the blonde upstart. Mind over matter stuff from Dixon who bounces off the model's jugs late in the round and shoves her back while Amii's chest keeps pumping up & down and even with that knockdown she fails to finish the job off and has to dance around the singer's menacing jabs in the dying seconds.

Round 9:
Dixon needs a knockout according to van Outen now being floored twice on the night but she's quicker on her feet to start the ninth and Grove's lack of frequent ring activity shows as she falls into single hand assault from mid-range, loses her precision and instead of building upon the second knockdown, seeks a clinch and gets nailed on the jaw for her troubles. Alesha keeps searching for that haymaker as she swings around the head but can only skim off the cheeks and drills the blonde's guts down the stretch instead. Blatant clinching from the blonde follows, ref wants to jump in but Alesha digs her elbow on the tummy and blasts an uppercut to slice Grove's guard aside, more leather over the top has the model jumping onto the ropes but she gets caught with another uppercuts and leans forward; Dixon whacks her from the other side moments later and throws against the turnbuckle, cleans out her stomach thereafter and Amii's too tired to respond, leans back and can't prevent the singer from spiking her navel with a vicious single hand assault for remainder of the round. But she just won't go down here and it's all for nothing from Dixon!

Round 10:
All th Girls Aloud members watch carefully as the final round begins and Amii's on her last legs here, just hoping to hang on until the bell but still ahead on points according to Denise van Outen. Alesha's in much better shape and traps the model butt-in-ropes again as Grove loses her aggression alltogether and gets shoved on the ropes with a methodical overhand jabbing. Ref won't allow her to clinch and Dixon whacks her on the ribcage to inflict more pain and the moaning suddenly becomes very telling as Grove's running on empty and just soaking up midriff assault; Dixon fueled by this sight, works the single hand on the breadbasket and whips the blonde's jugs back & forth trying to get that late KO she really needs here... final minute and Amii's done with her eyes closed, stands there and allows the singer to work her over... one more punch on the navel and a chest assault that relieves her from the last ounce of air in her lugs.. rubber legs time.. left hook on the chin SENDS GROVE DOWN ON HER KNEES as Dixon finally enforces her advantage... Amii's on all fours, makes a slow effort to beat the count and barely makes it at eight.. will the ref stop the fight as Grove's eyes are covered in mist... NO is the answer.. he sends the wounded model into more drilling nightmare as Alesha slams her mitts aside and pummels on the chest, clips the jaw and tries to destroy the blonde inside the last minute... piledriver on the navel with twenty seconds left on the clock SENDS GROVE DOWN AGAIN as the non-stop assault brings the ex-champ a desired redemption... Amii's on all fours again crying her heart out, so close to securing a famous win... she makes the effort... up at eight again and nobody saw that coming... Dixon with gloves on her knees, breathing very hard herself but there's no late KO here as Amii sags on the ropes and the ref checks the clock.. still ten seconds left but they gave it all they had and Dixon shakes her glove in disgust as this will go to the scorecards with Grove leaning over the ropes and refusing to celebrate either.

After ten rounds of boxing we go to the scorecards... and we have a SPLIT decision... Judges score the bout 95-92 for Alesha Dixon... 95-94 for Amii Grove... and 94-93 for your winner... ALESHA DIXON!!!

AFTER: The ex-champ punches the air in delight but the smile isn't there and Alesha knows she stole the verdict with that final round and feels more relieved that happy after one of the hardest tests she's been through her entire career. Even the Girls Aloud give her a standing ovation but perhaps they enjoyed Amii Grove's performance instead who let the victory slip through her fingers at the very last moment. The blonde is understandably downbeat and annoyed after a while but she gave Dixon a great fight and all this in only her third BBU outing. One dares to think how will she evolve in the future but there's no question she's a skillful contender in need of frequent opportunities. And she's got some temper too! She immediately challenges the singer into a rematch but Alesha ignores her and joins her entourage instead; Amii tries to chase her down but ref hauls her off to the opposite corner and prevents any ugly scenes - as if the punishment suffered by Kimberley Walsh and Lisa Maffia was enough for now - yet Denise van Outen thinks that Dixon won't be able to stay clear of the blonde model for too long. She dodged a massive bullet tonight and escaped the Lisa Maffia disaster but the young wolves are all over the established names and 2014 shapes up to be a real "go hard or go home" year for some of these veterans!
