BEFORE:
"Well," says a smiling Jamie-Lynn, "We all know why I'M here. I'm just the opponent, here to give Allison Mack some rounds. Well, I'm tired of being an opponent, and tired of being an indy. There are lots of new stables in the FCBA now, and if I can pull the upset tonight, maybe I'll finally get some attention."
"She certainly doesn't have anything to lose tonight," says Allison with a shrug. "But, if she thinks she's going to come into my hometown and 'shock the world', she's ALREADY lost something. Her MIND."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that familiar tune you hear is 'Woke Up This Morning' by Alabama 3, better known as the theme song from 'The Sopranos', and here comes one of the stars of that iconic series, Jamie-Lynn Sigler!"
McCarthy: "Sigler is a CLASSIC Dancing Hooker opponent, not a SINGLE FCBA win to her credit. This is EXACTLY how the Weirdo keeps a talentless phony like Allison Mack in the Top 20! He feeds her a bunch of cupcakes!"
Cassie: "You thought the ring was MADE of cupcakes after Mack knocked you out in 'The Gauntlet'..."
McCarthy: "ONE LUCKY PUNCH AFTER I'D BEEN FIGHTING ALL NIGHT AGAINST A FREAKING ALL-STAR TEAM!"
O'Dell(sighing): "Sigler into the ring. Helped off with the robe to reveal a gold number that shows off quite the figure..."
McCarthy: "UNbelievable..."
O'Dell: "And that song you and Mac hear is 'Mac The Knife' by Bobby Darin, and that can only mean..."
McCarthy: "It SHOULD only mean that I'M coming to the ring! It's MY song!"
Tess: "For those of you watching your first Asylum, Mac is still upset that Wiz bought the rights to the Bobby Darin version of the song and began using it as Allison Mack's theme song. In 2011..."
McCarthy: "Because it's MY song! I used it for YEARS before that gimmick-stealing..."
O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN, Mac. Allison wearing the black robe with 'Mack The Knife' in red letters across the shoulders. A silver knife blade dripping a single drop of red on the back..."
Cassie: "It's one of the coolest robes in the FCBA!"
McCarthy: "The only thing cool about Mack is how COLD she'll be knocked out if we ever get in the ring again!"
Tess: "Now, Mac, you're retired..."
McCarthy: "And I can UN-retire, and I WOULD if I could ever get that phony in the ring!"
O'Dell: "And, Allison IS in the ring, helped off with the robe to reveal the blood red bikini she prefers..."
McCarthy: "And a body only a mother could love!"
O'Dell(sighing): "The ladies are about ready. It's time for some picks. Tess favors Allison. How about you, Mac?"
McCarthy: "Again, Mack is a typical talentless Dancing Hooker, but even SHE should be able to beat Meadowlark Soprano..."
Tess: "It was..."
O'Dell: "Let's not go there AGAIN. Cassie, what do you think?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "All three of our ladies agree. Let's see if they're right. There's the bell and Sigler out aggressively, going right after Allison. Mack being forced to cover up and back up early as Jamie-Lynn winging away with both hands, throwing caution to the proverbial wind here..."
McCarthy: "Not a bad strategy. Kid has nothing to lose. Might as well try to make a splash..."
O'Dell: "Mack on the defensive, fighting some counter as Sigler continues to fire away aggressively. Jamie-Lynn damning those torpedos...AND SHE DROPS MACK WITH A RIGHT HAND!"
McCarthy: "Yes! She caught her! Great punch!"
O'Dell: "Sigler taking no time to celebrated. Quickly to the neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Mack to her feet at seven. Referee going to give her the mandatory and let this continue. Here comes Sigler, firing away with everything she has, trying to put this away. Mack backing up, into the ropes, covering up in a high guard, looking to ride this out..."
Cassie: "Sigler's in an absolute FRENZY trying to finish this thing. Mack hanging on and running clock. She's definitely hurt."
O'Dell: "No question about it. Jamie-Lynn teeing off on the ropes. Allison doing just enough with the odd counter to keep the referee from stopping this thing. Sigler banging body, then going back upstairs, dominating right to the bell. There it is, and that's the end of the first and a great round for Jamie-Lynn Sigler!"
Tess: "10-8. Allison's dug herself a hole. Or, more properly, Jamie-Lynn dug it FOR her."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second round begins and Sigler right after Mack again! Jamie-Lynn throwing caution to the wind here, again forcing Allison to the defensive, backing her up, missing some, but landing good, clean shots!"
Tess: "Allison still looks buzzed, Mac..."
McCarthy: "She IS, and Sigler knows it!"
O'Dell: "And Jamie-Lynn taking full advantage, all over Mack. Allison unable to get off, forced to back and cover as Sigler's going on a romp here..."
McCarthy: "You have to LOVE this strategy. Sigler knows she isn't going to win playing conservatively with Mack, so she's taking a lot of chances. A loss is a loss whether she gets knocked out or gets UD10ed, so why not go for it?"
O'Dell: "And that's exactly what she's doing. Sigler emptying the magazines as Mack covers up along the ropes. Referee looking closely, but, again, Allison doing enough to keep him from stopping it. Final seconds tick away and it's over, but a HUGE round for Sigler!"
McCarthy: "10-8 without the knockdown, and I rarely give those out..."
Cassie: "20-16 through two. Mack's in a hole now."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Into the third and Sigler continuing to press her advantage. Mack still a little unsteady, willing to give ground as Jamie-Lynn stalks, scoring points and looking for something big..."
Tess: "You know, we've talked about how little Sigler has to lose tonight, but let's not forget how MUCH Allison has to lose. Mac's fond of talking about the differences between Sceej and Front Street, and one big one is, Sceej has one girl per weight. If Olivia Munn loses a fight, it might cost her spots in the rankings, but she's not going to slide behind other girls in her stable's pecking order. Mack's in a six-fighter division that includes two former champions, Grace Park and Neve Campbell, who are on the card tonight, plus Pink. Chloe Bennet, who just gave one of the top contenders, Claire Holt, a heck of a fight, has been brought in here. Allison doesn't need to get upset tonight..."
O'Dell: "But that's exactly what's in the plans of Sigler, who continues to pressure. Mack fighting counter. A little busier now as the round goes on. Jamie-Lynn still forcing the issue...AND MACK CATCHES HER WITH A RIGHT HAND COUNTER!"
Cassie: "Timed that perfectly, hooked under the overhand left!"
O'Dell: "Sigler wobbled and now it's Allison going all in! Jamie-Lynn giving ground, backed quickly to the ropes and Mack goes to work, thumping that body as Sigler covers up in a high, tight guard. Allison working her way up, then back down. Punishing Sigler with both hands. Jamie-Lynn jabbing back in spots, but it's Mack in complete command to the bell!"
McCarthy: "Pulled the round out late, and she's lucky. Go down five points, and she was in deep trouble. 29-26 now, through three."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth round begins and Sigler seems to have the legs back. She's right at Mack and now met with determined resistance. Sigler putting punches together, but Allison banging right back. Good, two-way action in the middle of the ring."
McCarthy: "This Sigler kid is pretty sturdy. She's thicker than she used to be..."
Tess: "Well, she's 5'5", and she's 32 now. She's not the 23 year old she was when she made her debut against Neve Campbell in 2004. She came in right at the bantam limit..."
O'Dell: "And she's proving she's sturdy enough to stand with Allison Mack, because that's exactly what she's doing. The two are exchanging right in the middle of the ring, gritty, heavy-hitting stuff."
Cassie: "Mack a bit slicker, though, Jenny. She's slipping some of Sigler's stuff, getting her a little off balance, taking advantage of that."
O'Dell: "Indeed she is. But Sigler scoring some, too, and not backing up a step. Giving just about as good as she gets. Mack a solid right in that exchange. Sigler responds with one of her own. Nice three-punch flurry from Allison there, and there's the bell. Close one, but Mack's round."
Tess: "And Allison's working her way back into it. 38-36 now, through four."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth round begins with Sigler moving right to Allison again. Mack lands a good flurry that stops Jamie-Lynn, sends her back a step. Allison now stepping to, moving the head and shoulders, beating Jamie-Lynn to punches..."
Cassie: "Allison stabilizing now, and this isn't what Sigler wants. Mack's a former bantamweight champion with a Hall of Fame win percentage. Jamie-Lynn isn't going to win using conventional tactics..."
O'Dell: "As Allison is demonstrating right now. Mack taking control of things, putting her punches together, not allowing Jamie-Lynn to get anything going. Sigler reduced to one-at-a-time stuff right now, and it's not getting the job done..."
McCarthy: "Jamie-Lynn needs to commit to fighting counter, take the openings she's given. Right now, Mack's suppressing her almost completely."
O'Dell: "Indeed she is. Allison taking more and more control as the round goes on. Sigler game, but being outclassed right now. Can't get anything done. Mack patient. Putting the work in. Banging body as well as landing solid stuff upstairs. Into the final seconds of the round with Allison hooking the ribs, and there's the bell. Mack back in it, ladies."
Tess: "47-46 through five. That early lead of. Sigler's is just about gone."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "We're into the sixth now, and Sigler showing no quit. Right back after Allison but Mack again meeting her with a barrage of accurate fire. Sigler forced to the defensive quickly, as Mack once again establishes control..."
McCarthy: "I hate to say Scabbo is right, but, in this case, she IS. Sigler needs to get back to taking some chances like she did early. Mack's gotten in rhythm now, and, if she stays there, this isn't going to end well for Jamie-Lynn."
O'Dell: "Mack very patient. Not forcing anything. Moving well, getting off in combination. Sigler determined, firing back in spots, but mostly one-and-dones."
Cassie: "Mack's footwork causing problems for Sigler. Allison getting to good spots to punch, getting the ranges and angles she likes. Jamie-Lynn has plenty of compete, but getting a little frustrated here."
O'Dell: "Definitely is, and you can see why. The first seven minutes or so of this fight, Sigler was in command, but, as things have progressed, Mack has taken over and Jamie-Lynn now struggling to get any offense going. Final seconds elapse in the sixth and there's the bell. Four straight for Allison."
Tess: "56-56 now, with four to go."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh round begins with Allison now turning up the heat. Mack pressuring Sigler, backing her up, landing clean stuff that's getting Jamie-Lynn's attention..."
Cassie: "Mack still patient, but looking to put some hurt on Sigler at this point."
O'Dell: "And she's touching her up pretty well right now...RIGHT HOOK, SIGLER! A wild right hand and it wobbles Mack!"
McCarthy: "That's what this kid needs to do! Take chances! She got way off balance on that one, but it worked!"
O'Dell: "Did it ever! Mack buzzed and now being backed up. Sigler again emptying the magazines! Mack covering up, clinching, looks about ready to go...AND DROPS SIGLER WITH A SHORT LEFT! Where did THAT come from?"
Cassie: "No idea. But Sigler never saw it!"
O'Dell: "Jamie-Lynn dropped to her knees as the referee picks up the count at three, four, five, six, seven. Sigler to her feet at eight. Jamie-Lynn takes the mandatory and the referee will let it continue. Mack quickly to work, nailing Sigler with a left-right. Jamie-Lynn giving ground, backed to the ropes, clinching. Mack still buzzed herself, shoving free, lands a good right hand at the bell! What a round!"
Tess: "Crazy stuff, but 10-8, Allison with the knockdown. 66-64, Mack through seven."
ROUND EIGHT:
O'Dell: "Into the eighth now and Sigler right at Mack again! Allison stops her in her tracks with a good left-right but Sigler winging away now, throwing caution to the wind. Gets nailed with a good right hand...AND CATCHES MACK WITH A RIGHT OF HER OWN! Jamie-Lynn wobbles Allison with another off-balance right hand!"
McCarthy: "Got to go for the finish now!"
O'Dell: "And that's what Sigler's doing! Any ammunition she has left is being used up now as she bangs away, driving Mack into the ropes, nailing her with a straight right hand! Allison covering up again as Sigler puts her hips into everything, ponytail flying. Mack covering up, taking, trying to run some clock. Jamie-Lynn a good flurry! Landed a solid right hand in there. Another good right Sigler..."
McCarthy: "IT'S OVER! REFEREE STOPS IT! IT'S OVER! SIGLER WINS! SIGLER WINS!"
Cassie: "Nice to see your professional neutrality winning out, Mac..."
McCarthy: "SHUT IT, SCABBO! WHAT AN UPSET! JAMIE-LYNN SIGLER STOPS 'MACK THE PHONY' WITH A TKO8!"
Tess: "And you called it, Mac. Sigler needed to take a lot of chances. It could have cost her big, but she had nothing to lose, and she's just gained a huge upset win!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I'm with our winner, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and, Jamie-Lynn, that's got to sound pretty good to you..."
Jamie-Lynn: "It does! You know, it was four years between my first and second fight, and I gave Cuthbert hell in that second one. Then it was FIVE between that one and my third. It's hard to build anything when you can't get work. But, this was my second fight this year. I felt a lot better in there tonight, and it showed."
Tess: "You took a lot of chances, it seemed like..."
Jamie-Lynn: "Had to. Wasn't going to beat her on points just grinding. I had to try some big shots. Fortunately some of them landed."
Tess: "Do you think this result will get you more work?"
Jamie-Lynn: "I hope so! I just proved I could fight with a Top 20 bantam. I'm here, girls. Give me a call if you think you can do better than Allison!" |
