These girls met back in 2011, with Abbey winning in 7 rounds. Since then neither girl has had much boxing action, and certainly no success, but their recent rivalry on TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ just insist they must face each other again.

The girls enter the ring pretty much simultaneously, with Sophie in a red bikini, gloves and boots, Abbey in silver bikini and boots with baby blue gloves.

Round 1

Both girls are ready for this, and they put on a high octane start, trading shots immediately, with Sophie coming off worse and backing away, covering up, and clinching when Abbey gets in closer. Now Sophie jabs at Abbey, and the girls spar rather than fight, but this doesn’t suit Abbey who’s taking punishment, and she sings a good right hook into Sophie’s midriff, and this suits her better as she makes Sophie trade, and she’s starting to hurt the older girl, beginning to smack her around, pushes her to the ropes with a neat combination, and she lands a great right, which staggers her, and Abbey follows up, clips her jaw with another right, and she decks Sophie with that! Sophie takes a count of 6 before she rises, the bell ringing before Abbey has the chance to capitalise.

Round 2

Abbey’s confident now, knows she can hurt Sophie, and she starts the second round well, but Sophie looks in better nick now, and she seems a little nimbler perhaps as she jabs and moves, making Abbey look poor now as she gets her punches past the model’s gloves and into her face. Abbey’s not good in defence, as her record shows, and once again she’s looking hittable here, with Sophie giving her a lesson, her left and right gloves smacking into that pretty face, Abbey’s blonde hair swishing around as she tries to keep clear without any success at all at present, and although Sophie doesn’t have a big punch, when she lands this often she causes trouble.

Round 3

Now it’s Sophie who is moving well, and she outboxes Abbey, easily finding her face with her jab, never looking like hurting the willowy blonde, who is doing well to keep clear of any possibility of a big punch from Sophie, but the singer’s still jabbing at her, Abbey clinching to pause the action. When they resume, after being broken by the referee, Sophie moves Abbey around, hitting her as she goes, the model not looking too clever now as she gets very much outboxed, and Sophie pops her onto ropes as the round draws to a close, a round she’s bossed well, and she’s throwing a couple of punches to Abbey’s face now, but Abbey punches her way off the ropes, and she unleashes some big hits on Sophie, sending the singer backwards as she dominates the closing seconds.

Round 4

Sophie’s still boxing well, but she looks a little tired after putting a lot of effort into the first three rounds, and Abbey’s swinging - and landing! Abbey hurts Sophie with left hooks to her body, and this is beginning to slow the singer down – and now she’s the one looking to clinch. But Abbey’s looking like a real fighter tonight, and she’s giving Sophie more punishment now, the work she’s doing on the singer’s body clearly weakening the girl, and her guard’s dropping, exposing her face – Abbey spots her chance and whips a clean right hook past Sophie’s gloves, onto her notoriously weak jaw and down goes Sophie! She gets to her feet at 7, but she’s not looking good at all, and she gets peppered with good punches from the blonde through to the bell.

Round 5

Abbey’s getting into the groove here – for the first time in her BBU career since she beat Sophie two years ago, and she actually looks good now as she hits Sophie to the body again, roughs her up a little when the singer tries to clinch, and even when she is able to clinch Abbey has the strength to push her back. She hits Sophie with a sharp one-two as they break, and the singer’s hurt now, and starting to back away, feeling the newly found power from the blonde model, who hooks her girl to the body as she pushes her to the ropes. Sophie’s not jabbing now, and she eats punches from Abbey, who looks like she’s in total control now, the round ending with Sophie backed into Abbey’s corner, taking a lot of punishment.

Round 6

Off they go again, and Abbey’s putting in a big effort here, attacking Sophie to the body right from the opening bell, and she’s prodding the singer backwards now with her jab, so Sophie again tries to hold, but Abbey’s response is to unload a series of three right hooks on Sophie’s face – and she floors her! Sophie’s up and on her feet again at 7, insisting she’s OK, but here’s Abbey unloading another right hook, and Sophie’s been rocked again, looks rather unsteady on her feet now, and she’s spared any further punishment by the referee.

Result: Abbey Clancy stopped Sophie Ellis-Bextor in round 6.

Abbey looks pretty pleased with herself, and she’s in Sophie’s corner after the fight, not to punish her any more, just to console her, the poor girl’s face looking really quite sore after that battering.
