Before: Interesting style contrast—Clarkson much shorter: should she be able to get inside Missy’s jab, work just might get done. “Missy’s the favourite, says a bantam-beat reporter for Celebrity Ring, “but Kelly’s got legitimate questions to ask in this fight. It’ll be interesting to see if Peregrym can come up with definitive answers.” Kelly in green bikini with diagonal yellow --bars on the cups; white gloves—Missy in navy sport top—scarlet swimsuit bottoms; white gloves.

During R1: Problems for Missy early. She’s straight-puncher—pumping her jab, trying to drop the right hand—easy for Clarkson to stay low, weave inside and get to ribcage. Kelly’s low center of gravity helps her bundle Peregrym to ropes: Missy unable to get off, had to clinch for ref’s breaks. Stop and go, awkward first—Clarkson able to win position and press forward to ropes, but not getting off effectively in the clinch. Missy frustrated as her jab skids atop Kelly’s skull—right hand misses altogether.

R2: Missy using her legs—still missing over the top on punches, but denying Kelly inside position by legging around her. Peregrym jabbing, then using the left hand to push down on Kelly’s head while sidestepping her—ref issues warnings to Peregrym as a result. Kelly enthusiastic—occasionally fighting her way inside and roughing things up: Peregrym comfy against the ropes, embracing her foe and getting orderly breaks.

R3: Missy looking a little more relaxed—diligently trying to angle down the right hand without success, Peregrym’s jab doing all the work, skidding atop Kelly’s skull, steering Clarkson as Missy lopes the ring. Bit of a stalemate—Kelly can’t penetrate, but her low-weaving approach proving effective against upright Missy.

R4: Missy shooting one-two off her lead (left) foot—Kelly ducks—Missy picks her up with  jagged left uppercuts off that planted front foot. Several engagements see Missy’s left uppercut uproot Kelly, put her back on her heels: Peregrym; solving the equations this round. Kelly unable to come forward, and she’s still standing tall when backing up: perfect target for Missy’s jab/cross routine. Kelly durable, but taking her first hard punches—Peregrym walking Kelly down, doing damage in a constructive fourth.

R5: Kelly’s slowing: Missy leaning out over her left foot, jerking that left uppercut, straightening Kelly, then belting her rangy right hands and oily left hooks. Clarkson staring—not reacting well—long brunette’s getting off with authority, pasting Kelly without mercy. Final minute—Missy dipping the left shoulder, hooking Kelly’s midsection, then lifting the left uppercut: Clarkson stumbles backwards on cue, Missy sliding forward, dragging her back (right) foot while knocking a range-finding jab against Kelly’s forehead, then RIFLING home the right cross. Clean, shattering shot to chin: head-swivel Kelly—legs lock up as torso tilts back and CLARKSON GOES DOWN! That’s it—Kelly’s deeply, darkly out—hands up above her head, legs out straight and stiff as she relaxes into slumber. KO5 Missy P.

After: Peregrym grinning, accepting congratulations in her corner: Missy not overdoing ity, keeping the celebrations businesslike, showing class as poor Kelly’s brought around. “Kelly—she’s tough,” Missy admits in postfight. “I couldn’t find her with my right hand early, and she’s hard to find in the body—so she’s tricky. That was a good test for me—I like that I solved her and got her out of there: not everybody does.”
