Unified Flyweight Title

Before: Not many Liu bouts billed as revenge contests, but Anderson one of the few to have denied Lucy a belt, coaxed back for the rematch by promoters desperate to find suitable opposition. Gillian not favoured, but she presents a different set of challenges than most small women - able to think in the ring, good defensively - she hopes to exploit Liu's balance and work the body. Everybody's got a plan until they get hit. Liu in slick ponytail, black push up, leapord print boy cut trunks - Anderson in white sports bra, light blue adidas terrycloth trunks - small work out gloves for both.

R1: Liu disdainful of Gillian's chopping combinations, leaning back, pivoting around her lead foot and clouting a straight arm right hand on the ear to get Anderson stumbling early. Midway through, Liu hands down, leaving defense to her torso gets Gillian to commit to a right cross, slips it and sweeps a wide left hand across the redhead's mouth to lift Gillian's lead foot off the canvas. Anderson already bleeding from the nostrils, fielding single shot bombs off her face is wobbly butt in the dying moments. Liu turning the title bout into a sparring session, backs up, takes Gillian by the waistband of her trunks to tug her forward, then turn her - Lucy just pushing Anderson around because she can - redhead too groggy to stop her, but whiny during the break to an uncaring ref.

R2: Gillian out behind a very tight defense, gloves at her eyebrows - Liu with her hands at her sides, stepping back flat footed, supple waisted, then suddenly BURYING a right hand into Gillian's stomach. Liu jumping around behind the red head as Anderson gurgles gut shot to all fours - Liu laughing, reaching to Gillian's trunks to haul her up by her waistband as the ref jumps in with a warning. Liu laughing it up the rest of the way, enjoying the hurt redhead, leaping in with artful, single power shots to the thighs, stomach, breaking Anderson down with body touches. Crippled downstairs, Anderson is helpless down the stretch as once again Liu pulls her forward by her trunks, turns her around and gives her a sweeping cuff with wide, straight arm lefts or rights upside the head. Anderson just getting CLOCKED, stumbles to her knees once again at the bell as Liu grins happily.

R3: Gillian out bravely to cut off the ring, but Liu leaps in with a picturesque left uppercut from the knees, splitting the defense and bashing Anderson's head straight back to quell any notion of a comeback. Gillian hurt AGAIN as Lucy toys with the damaged goods, dragging out the punishment, tugging her forward by her trunks and turning her around - Anderson being publicly abused as Liu does anything she wants, but clearly pulls her punches to carry Gillian through the round. A badly battered and discouraged Gillian Anderson stumbles to her corner and discusses quitting with her corner - they talk her out of it.

R4: Liu stepping back in front of Gillian, bending low then popping up with short left/rights across the face puts the redhead wobbly butt in the opening moments with flashy power punching. More trunk-tugging to position Anderson in the ring, then more crunching power - Liu exploding into the blows from a deep knee bend has Anderson reeling pathetically. Midway through the round, Liu sinks a hard diving right hand to Gillian's trunk line, carrying her body into the redhead to bowl her over with momentum - Anderson rolling on her back, looking shabby. Gillian beats the count - girls fall in together and Liu busts an overhand right inside Gillian's tired jab - Anderson's head cracks back, then she slumps forward, pitching to her face as Liu steps away with a pretty smirk. KO4 Lucy Liu.

After: Just when you think you've seen Lucy beat a woman as badly as it is possible to be beaten, she tunes up on Gillian Anderson with an ungodly power punching performance like this. Anderson hurt from the opening moments and staggered in almost every single minute of this fight, never was able to execute any kind of fight plan. Cautious ringside officials remove Anderson via stretcher - Liu unrepentant, maintains that Anderson had to pay. Still, the showy handling of Anderson in the ring, trunk tugging and circus punching her into oblivion was overkill for all but the staunchest Lucy Liu fan.
