Natalie Bassingthwaighte had a shocking 2011 and 2012 but has shown some of her best form throughout 2013 with gutsy wins over McCutcheon and Dowding. She faces a pretty formidable opponent here though and some say that this is all about getting a fight under the former champs bet so she can have another crack at Miranda.

We speak of Zoe Ventoura, who up until the last ACB PPV was flying before Miranda stripped her of her title. It hasn’t been all plain sailing for Zoe since then and recent UD10 loss to Parkinson is sure to be ringing in her ears. The punters are on her side though.

Round 1

The former AWUBA champ is on early, flicking that lightening quick jab off her hip. NatBass cautious, watching her like a hawk, backing away then skipping back forward. Ventoura confident, stepping to, flicking the jab, grinning. Nothing landed by either girl. Midway through, Natbass pounces in with a one two to the belly followed by a FLASHING LEFT HOOK to Zoe's chin and DOWN GOES VENTOURA! The cocky former champ spluttering on her knees as she gathers her mouthguard and clambers up the ropes. Ventoura in shock, Natbass more so, cannot believe she floored her. Natbass swooping in, placing leather on the open mid section, hard jabs, resets then goes again. Ventoura guard up protecting her face, taking solid punches on the gut, STIFF RIGHT JAB breaks through the mits on the bell! Big round by the underdog.

Round 2

NatBass straight on the front foot, working from the outside with the long jab, then backing off and resting. Ventoura dazzled, tries to jab at distance but keeps missing. Natbass countering every time with gloves on skin. One gets through for Zoe and Nat gets checked on the cheek which forces her to back off a little. But not for long, late in the round NatBass skips in again, sweeps a right hand low but pulls it and FLASHES THE HOOK on the jaw again and DOWN GOES VENTOURA! Flat to her back and head bouncing, she can’t get up from that one surely. Pushing off her elbows, stunned by another big punch from the ageing AWUBA legend. She remains on one knee at the bell. NatBass grinning from ear to ear.

Round 3

NatBass has upped the tempo. Flashy footwork, using the ring, skipping in a placing that jab to the gut, swiping the ribs, or any other open piece of Zoe’s torso. Ventoura’s mid section reddened. Halfway through, the old girl flashes in, lands a lightening quick combo to the abs, leans away from a lazy right hand and launches into SWIPING RIGHT HOOK to Zoe’s temple. She’s hurt, legs a shaking, as she back pedals to the ropes. All NatBass to the Bell as she blasts away at Zoe’s open torso, props her up with her forearm and just continues to tear into the gut to the bell. Ventoura onto hands and knees at the bell.

Round 4

This is getting ugly for the wanabee Bantam champ. NatBass springing to her right, fakes that right hook to the gut and like clockwork Zoe covers up, taking another BLISTERING LEFT HOOK to the mouth and DOWN GOES VENTOURA! Spun off her feet and flat on her stomach, that’s 4 from 4 but no signs of concern from the ref as Zoe is up in the corner at 7. NatBass sprints in, plants her feet and lets fly with shots at Ventoura’s ribs. Zoe leaning into the ropes, taking leather to the belly. NatBass pops the uppercut to the chin, working back to the midsection now. Zoe coming apart, guard drops to her shoulders, NatBass takes a half step back and twists into a FLASHING RIGHT HOOK to the cheek and DOWN GOES VENTOURA AGAIN! On her knees in the corner, pulls herself up with the ropes, heaving for air. Swollen lips, bruised cheek and reddened torso, the former champ looks down. NatBass just circles, takes her opportunities to swat Ventoura’s weak advances aside and punch her head back to the bell.

Round 5

NatBass showing Zoe some cry baby taunts to the cheers of the crowd. Bassingthwaighte a different fighter this round. Flashy footwork, arms by her side. Starts skipping in and flashing the jab off the hip in true Ventoura fashion. Ex champ being deconstructed, head snapping back each time the jab breaks through the guard. Then back to her hold ways, skipping in, flashing jabs at the mid section, waiting for a reply but it doesn’t come as Zoe is in a total daze. More domination from NatBass who is just dismantling the former champ much to the crowds delight.

Round 6

Another damaging round from NatBass. Replicating Zoe’s infamous skip in 8 punch combo on the belly before placing a flashing open palm slap across Ventoura’s face and DOWN GOES VENTOURA! Humiliated by her own moves the former AWUBA champ takes a knee. Is she sobbing?!?! The crowd is in chorus “NAAAAAAATBAAAAAAASS, NAAAAAAAATBAAAAAAASS”. Zoe wiping tears away, corrects her shorts and almost adolescent like stamps her feet and throws her gloves in the air. NatBass skipping to again but takes a HARD VENTOURA JAB off the hip right in the mouth and for the first time in the fight NatBass is on the back foot! The crowd boos! Zoe walking her opponent down, raising her jab off the hip and gets it through a few times. NatBass not handling her attack at all well to the bell.

Round 7

NatBass given a minute has regained her thoughts and is straight back in the guts of Zoe, buckling her knees early, Ventoura groaning with each bruising shot. NatBass back on top, treating herself to Zoe’s midsection and pumping the odd hook into her delts to soften up the guard. Ventoura weakening, takes a few hard shots to the ears as the guard gets lazy. Tries to return a jab or two but NatBass leans away and places the right cross on the chin. NatBass working so much harder of the two, more work down low, proppy little uppercuts to confuse Zoe of where the guard needs to be. ONE TWO jabs put the head over the top rope, back downstairs for some reefing shots at the rib cage, the guard drops as NatBass swipes two large hooks across the face and ZOE SLIDES DOWN the ropes on the bell.

Round 8

Zoe on the end of boos from the crowd as NatBass beats her out of the corner and meets her for another round of torment. The ref encourages Zoe to throw punches or she will stop for the fight but it should have been stopped in the 4th. Natalie plants her feet and twists into one, two, three, four roundhouse hooks to the ribcage, Ventoura’s tree trunk legs shuddering again, the tears continue to flow to the boos of the crowd. NatBass just pushing her in the shoulders back into the corner. Right jab to the mouth and there’s the first sign of claret, another right to the nose. Ventoura wearing the gloved helmet. OH DEVASTATING RIGHT HOOK to the ribs from NatBass just twisting into that one and Ventoura’s left knee gives way. She’s got the right arm across the belly. NatBass just crouching and driving ONE, TWO, THREE BLISTERING UPPERCUTS to the mouth and the mouthguard pops from Zoe’s mouth on the bell as she is once again saved but a crumpling mess in the corner. BronzedOz with the towel at the ready but the brave (stupid) former champ waves it off.

Round 9

Amazing that she is still standing, Ventoura meets her foe mid ring, taking the punishment again. Just no answer for her older dominant opponent. Yet another dimension from NatBass is she stands mid ring with the former champ and goes toe to toe. Almost laughable that every advance from Zoe is met with a duck, a weave, leaning away, and then a destructive counter punch that just rips through her. Ventoura a bloodied mess, backs away from the mid ring battle. NatBass just skipping to, tearing away at her midriff, blistering hooks and lightening fast jabs just smashing in. Ventoura heaving, trying to suck in air but the onslaught is too much and DOWN SHE GOES AGAIN! This time could be the last though as she rests in droplets of her own blood, sweat and tears. The crowd begging her to stay down to end the humiliation but SHE IS ON HER FEET AT 7! NatBass ends her premature celebration, just shaking her head in disbelief and pounces in again. A left right combination to the gut followed by two proppy uppercuts which set the former champ up for a FLASHY RIGHT HOOK TO THE MOUTH on the bell! As Zoe swirls and reaches for the ropes, barely staying on her feet.

Round 10

NatBass, fresh as a daisy, as if in round 1, springs to it for the final time. She’s straight in Zoe’s face with the jab, using it to guide her where she wants her, then sweeping the right hook in desperation for another knockdown. Zoe staggering around, blinking stupid, no idea where she is. NatBass popping the head back, ONE, TWO THREE, as Zoe’s gloves battle to rise and she tears into that midsection. Uppercuts and jabs just tearing it to pieces, the Ref in there watching more closely but it’s too late. Ventoura has been NatBass piñata all fight. Zoe’s leaning into the ropes, limp guard near her chest, legs barely there. NatBass hooks the chin, uppercut picks up the head perfectly for a CRUCHING RIGHT HOOK to the temple and DOWN GOES VENTOURA! Hopefully for the final time as she twists left and then sags to a crumpled mess in the corner. The crowd on their feet, NatBass in jubilant celebration but it’s not over! Ventoura on her feet at 7, finally gets a cheer from the crowd! The Ref looks closely at the battered mess in the corner, blood streaming from her face and he lets it go on! THIS IS INSANE! The Downunder starlet skips back in, Ventoura with her limp guard to her face as Natalie treats herself to whatever she wants. NatBass pumping arms back and forth, leather on midsection echoing through the arena, swiping shots across Zoe’s face as the bell finally ends Ventoura’s torment and she sinks to her knees in a sobbing mess in the corner. It’s a demolition as NatBass takes every round in a Unanimous Decision.

What an absolute demolition by Natalie!! She stripped the former champ of everything there. That is not a fight you come back from. The only thing she can take away from it is she didn’t get knocked out! Natalie has arrived. You do not go from struggling to win fights to that sort of destruction of a champion fighter, and go unnoticed. I think Miranda may have to watch out.
