Before: Long layoff for Tripplehorn sees her enter the fight with little jiggles of flesh nemeath the chin, arms and at the backside. Jeanne the classier fighter, but Rutherford from the try harder school for the second best, eager to work the upset with Tripplehorn’s cooperation. Red cotton jockeys two piece underwear for Jeanne, white sports bra, baby blue adidas terrycloth trunks for Kelly.

R1: Good hustle from Kelly, lazy effort from Jeanne sees the blonde post a lunch pailo shutout. Long stretches with Tripplehorn on the ropes, gloves at her ears, just turning with Kelly’s punches as Rutherford works. Jeanne clinching, doing a lot of holding as Rutherford none too selective, feasts indiscriminately on Jeanne’s arms, hips and stomach.

R2,3: Jeanne turns it around and counter punches Rutherford to pieces in these rounds. When Kelly hangs back, Jeanne steps in behind the jab, just touching the blonde and keeping her occupied, When Kelly sallies forth, Jeanne rolls with the punches, coming back a short left or right, and clinching for a break. Still not much in the way of lateral movement from Tripplehorn--but she doesn’t need it to puff up Kelly’s face and keep her frustrated through 3.

R4: Kelly’s body work begins to pile up and Jeanne doesn’t like it. Tripplehorn with her hands high repeatedly gives up 3 and 4 vicious chops to her gut before she can clinch up around Rutherford’s triceps, She’s hurting and midway through the round. Kelly pounds her with reaching lefts and rights as Jeanne stretches back across the ropes and JEANNE GOES DOWN! Tripplehorn takes a knee, regroups, and gets out of the round behind that stiff jab to the belly and mouth with a raging Kelly R.

R5: Kelly clearly growing confident, pawing the left and landing a brawling right hand repeatedly whenever she can swat Jeanne’s left out of the way. Tripplehorn beginning to lump up—the girls are fighting at middle distance, but Rutherford is moving Jeanne with those right hands ti the head.

R6: Another Kelly round—Jeanne looks tentative, laying on the ropes too much, and almost lazy. Rutherford just outing her blonde head into the brunette’s chest and working before the inevitable clinch—and Jeanne is looking lock-legged and pouty—forcing the referee to break. It’s Kelly walking in, eyes bright, right hand reaching back and throwing heavily as Jeanne retreats around the ring.

R7: A shopworn Jeanne T stands her ground, but Kelly’s had too much success. Toe to toe, Kelly’s stronger, coming in behind her clubbing right hands and working on the inside as she goes shoulder to shoulder with the brunette, Midway through the round a series of short left uppercuts seems to have Tripplehorn hurt—she turns away with gloves at her face and takes another knee. Kelly looks flushed and anxious to get back at it.

R8: Kelly withstands Jeanne’s best round, walking the brunette down, walking through the jab, and in the final minute, she steaks Tripplehorn’s round with pounding right hands to the jaw which have Jeanne skidding along the ropes. Jeanne’s creamy thighs are trembling—a sure sign of oxygen dent. A bellowing Kelly R goes chest to chest with Jeanne at the bello—Tripplehorn exhausted, looks ill used.

R9: Kelly pouring it on—Jeanne battered from one position on the ropes to theother as she is powerless to prevent Rutherford’s assault, Kelly just doing it with hamfisted aggression, laying in on Jeanne, pushing her back, then pounding right hands to the head until Tripplehorn is forced to clinch. Over and over, the ref breaks them, over and over, Kelly walks back in, shoving Jeanne to the ropes and abusing her. At the bell, Jeanne Tripplehorn’s expression tells the tale—she looks doomed.

R10: Kelly walks her girl down, bodies up and quickly has Jeanne leaning backward against the ropes, Furious, plodding punching from Kelly, getting her feet set, hips in behind the bug left and right hands, clobbering Jeanne into a stupor, Tripplehorn not punching back, and she begins to topple slowly out of the corner. Kelly lifts a few more clubbing lefts and rights into the exhausted brunette’s chest and gloves before Jeanne spills to the canvas sprawling on her face and making no effort to rise. An overjoyed Kelly Rutherford celebrates over a sleeping Jeanne T as the crowd wildly applauds the unexpected KO10.

After: Kelly absolutely rejuvenated, beating a tough brunette into a stupor in what has to be the best fight of Rutherford’s career. Jeanne speechless with the loss, didn’t have it tonight, looked slow, and her jaw wasn’t up to the task of fielding Kelly leather all night long.
