BBU INTERNATIONAL CARD FROM CARDIFF
BBU LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE BOUT
(DOWNUNDER BOXING VS LOOKOUT ATLANTIC BOXING)
Posted by Vassago on July 30, 2014, 11:24 am,
It's one of the most anticipated BBU fights this summer as Miranda Kerr puts her lightweight title on the line against sultry Swedish actress Helena Mattsson. The stage for this contest was set back in the spring already, in case of Kerr retaining her title she's poised to face the winner of Rosie Jones vs Sacha Parkinson bantamweight duell for the second multi division unification title bout in history. Sabrina Washington held both light and welter titles back in 2012 and now we're about to witness another history making schedule coming to the fore this summer.
Mattsson's also in line for the unification if she wins tonight and Parkinson beats Jones - who's the Swede's Lookout! Atlantic stablemate - but Denise van Outen suggests everyone just stick to the opening chapter of the whole puzzle and let the gloves do the talking against any potential odds. Miranda Kerr is such a high-profile fighter she even brings her ACB bantamweight straps for exposure in the ring almost to tell the Cardiff audience who's the real number one around. And the Aussie glamour model has fought rarely in the UK over the last few years, word on the street is she's the highest paid female celebrity boxer outside American and one wouldn't want to bet against that rumour! But Mattsson isn't exactly the underdog tonight, she's scored some emphatic wins over Malika Menard and Erica Cerra to keep her pound-for-pound stock among the very top.
Miranda Kerr wears a silver bikini set with white & golden trim and golden gloves. Dark blonde hair loose, curled at the bottom. Helena Mattsson wears a navy blue bikini with Swedish cross on each bra cup and yellow gloves. Long blonde hair in loose curls, tucked behind the ears.
Round 1:
Helena comes out with a mission and tries to catch the Aussie with single hand approach, grazes the forearms but fails to land anything solid, enables Miranda to weave around without any trouble before mounting a response, a couple of heavy hooks bounce off the high guard and Mattsson steps back afterwards; both girls settle into mid-distance jabbing but it's the Swedish girl with more committement as she thumps Miranda's ribcage and escapes a hook to the temple, ducks low and keeps peppering the midsection to force a clinch from the champion. Kerr shoves her back the ropes late on and digs into the tummy while Helena pumps leather on the forearms unable to break through the defence anymore.
Round 2:
More menacing hooks from the Swede, she keeps the champion weaving around but still manages to drill her navel with a quick switch, jumps into close range punishment and works the single hand jabbing; Kerr responds over the top, nails Mattsson on the jaw but fails to halt the charge and has to step away as the Swede just leans on her and keeps pumping leather on the guts. Couple of hooks bounce off Helena's cheeks but the girl's unmoved and forces the Aussie back for good, switches to uppercuts on the chest and slices the model's arms to stagger her in the middle of the ring. Kerr still looking subdued and sluggish, leans on the Swede and peppers her ribcage but eats more uppercuts on the rack and has to force a clinch late on to see out the round.
Round 3:
Helena's really taking her chances now, jumps at the Aussie full of confidence and whacks her across the chest, tries to add more punishment but gets blocked off and eats a couple of hooks on the mouth instead. Miranda targets the face thereafter, wins the close range brawl and hoofs Mattsson's head back & forth with a series of jabs to force the challenger on the back foot. More hooks slice the Swede's arms and connect with the chest; Kerr flicks a thumping galore to stagger the actress and nails her on the jaw with an uppercut follow up. Helena winces in pain and wobbles back as Miranda pours in with more facial assault, splits the mitts and bounces off the cheeks to send the actress backing into the ropes with eyes closed, a switch on the guts gives her more advantage and at the bell it's the Aussie model pumping her mitts against the navel and making the Swede yelp for respite.
Round 4:
Both girls tangle in the middle of the ring, Helena still thinks aggression is the way to go against the champ but then loses an overhand approach as Kerr just slams her against the mouth and drills the chest afterwards. She traps the actress in close range asault, uppercuts the arms aside and thumps the jugs against Mattsson's cheeks, wobbles her back and catches on the fly with a hook on the temple. Helena bends forward and tries to keep her balance but as she rises her head, Miranda tags her with another hook on the temple, follows up with an uppercut on the jaw and sinks her deep; all Kerr thereafter, the champ juts batters the Swede back to the ropes and forces her into a cover, still drills her guts and leaves moaning in pain with eyes closed at the bell. She gives the challenger a long look and blows a kiss to the front seats indicating perhaps she's only getting started now.
Round 5:
Mattsson just doesn't want to lose her aggressive approach but has to think better off it as Kerr whacks her across the mouth in another close range tangle and snaps the head back with immediate follow up to assume control. The Aussie model splits the mitts with a flurry of leather and bounces off the blonde's face, staggers her in the middle of the ring before switching low and pounding the ribcage. Helena must cover up but fails to respond with any punches herself, allows the model to dominate the one-sided display and push the actress back to the ropes where Mattsson finally responds from behind the guard and catches the champion on the face. Miranda's head snaps back but she leans on the challenger and pummels her ribcage, tries to bounce off the jugs again but gets stopped by the forearms and eats a series of hooks on the cheeks as Helena's buried on the ropes but makes a meaningful connection in almost desperate attempt to halt the champion's attacks.
Round 6:
Miranda jumps from her stool and beats the actress for an overhand hook on the jaw, rips into her chest thereafter and switches into full power, pummels Helena's cleavage to bend her to the side and escapes a hooking response. She sends a flurry of leather on the body just to keep the challenger covered up but still slices her guard and another switch snaps Mattsson's head back as Kerr pumps uppercuts on the jaw to push her foe back on the ropes. Helena tries to weave around and strike back but skims off the temples and eats a left hand on the nose that sinks her on the spot, Miranda follows up with a double overhand on the temples herself and whips the Swede against the ropes, pummels through on the face and leaves the girl moaning in pain and soaking up punishment. Full committement assault from the champ just sinks Mattsson on her knees and increases her moaning, another hooking combo on the temples spins her onto the turnbuckle but the Aussie runs out of time to further punish her and has be dragged away by the ref at the bell.
Round 7:
Helena's cheeks have developed a couple of lumps but the actress refuses to yield an inch to the champion and bumps into her cleavage early in the seventh. Miranda hoped to dominate another round but gets staggered and eats a hook on the jaw to drop her arms and enables the Swede to power through on the chest. Mattsson screams in her efforts to punch Kerr's boobs into jelly, leans on the champ and catches her with a hook on the liver to prevent from a successful escape, another hook tags the chin and the Aussie model wobbles as she falls into more Swedish spikes. All Mattsson in the middle of the ring, romping away at the midsection and bouncing off the chest, Miranda only grazes the flesh and just can't tame the challenger, sends a hook to the temple wayward and eats a similar reply instead, Mattsson switches into facial assault late on, rocks the model's head back & forth before making the champ moan with a flurry of jabs on the cheeks that leave Kerr's face swollen at the bell.
Round 8:
The fight turns into a right old tussle as both girls tangle in the middle of the ring again, Helena wants to show everyone she's be a worthy champion as she spikes the model's cleavage to win another early exchange. Miranda has time to break her rhythm though and jumps to the side, sends facial leather herself but can't slice the guard anymore and circles into safety. Mattsson with a spirited chase, tries to catch the champion with single hand approach but only wastes energy and finally settles down as Kerr immediately jumps at her with a hooking combo on the head. She nails the actress on the temple and adds one on the nose to wobble Helena to the side, another late tangle has the Aussie on top and pumping leather into Mattsson's guts and backing her into the ropes as the clock expires.
Round 9:
Both women look really good physically and the pacey approach continues with Kerr jumping into close range rack assault and staggering the actress on the spot. Helena bats away on the head in response but gets stuck on her feet and bends to the side when Miranda slices her mitts and tags the temple. An uppercut switch follows and pummels Helena's boobs aside to inflict more shrieks with Kerr backing her into the ropes thereafter. The ammount of leather overwhelms the challenger but she still throws a response on the head, just not frequent enough to stop the Aussie barrage though and a couple of hooks on the liver area sink Mattsson butt-in-ropes for good as Miranda winces in determination and pumps a flurry of jabs on the guts. Mattsson tries to force a clinch, gets blocked off and tagged on the chin as Kerr whacks her all over the place in the final minute, reduces into a moaning punchbag to establish full control but Helena's too durable to go down even though she shows first signs of fatigue, just soaking up too much punishment to look unmoved by the champion anymore. Miranda adjusts her hair as she walks back to her corner with Helena taking her time and sporting many reddish patches across her face.
Round 10:
Miranda's visibly quicker of the two and traps Helena in the middle of the ring, pummels through on the rack and makes the actress moan. Winning the final round may be Mattsson's only chance to somehow get the decision but she allows the champion to dominate close range again and Kerr doesn't even look fully committed, works the single hand to drill the guts and just make Helena look sluggish. No real intentions to knock the girl out either and Miranda just looks composed in methodical striking that push a tired looking opponent back to the ropes anyway. More hooks on the navel sink Helena on her knees, a quick switch nails her on the jaw too and just leaves trembling with eyes closed. Late facial barrage adds more bruises but Miranda holds back and bumps into her chest instead, gives the Swedish national colors one more series and ends the round pumping unanswered leather with Helena gasping for air with eyes closed and just unable to mount any response. Champion raises both her arms in delight and the challenger drops to her knees looking utterly spend even though she's avoided a single knockdown all night, a very first time that's ever happened in a BBU fight featuring the Aussie glamour model.
After ten rounds of boxing we go to the scorecards.... judges score the bout 98-94, 97-94 and 98-94 all for your winner through unanimous decision... and STILL the BBU lightweight champion Miranda Kerr!!!
AFTER: Miranda nods her head accepting the seemingly ineviteable decision and earns a standing ovation from the Cardiff audience. She then gives a visibly disappointed actress a long hug and both women seem to share a great deal of respect. Perhaps Miranda really couldn't send Helena down tonight rather than held back on purpose. There were few rounds where the champion switched into overdrive but Mattsson proved too tough to crack even though she couldn't punish the Aussie on the long stretch herself.
A fight worthy of championship belts brought the best out of Helena and justified her title shot as she becomes the first woman to last the distance with an otherwise fearsome Miranda but now the talk of the town switches to the upcoming bantamweight clash since either Rosie Jones or Sacha Parkinson are poised to feature in the multi division unification contest against the Aussie model. Miranda salutes the crowd for the last time and sounds strictly business in post-fight interview with Denise van Outen, praises Mattsson's aggressive spirit and hopes to confirm her status as pound-for-pound rankings leader by thumping either Rosie or Sacha into submission in her next fight to add another title to her already impressive collection. There aren't many people in the Cardiff audience that would bet against that script becoming reality!
Final result: Miranda Kerr def. Helena Mattsson UD10.
