Before: Every press conference—on the streets outside, and in the foyers and escalators of the facilities themselves—throngs of adoring Mandy Moore fans wave placards, scream, and make a general nuisance of themselves. Moore delighted—waving at her public, looking vaguely embarrassed at all the attention; there’s no question she’s the focus of the promotion. “I’ve worked so hard to get here,” Moore says at the podium. “I’ve had a lot of doubters and critics in my time, but I’ve definitely found a home at welterweight and I think I’m ready to go ahead and take those belts. It’s just a fun, exciting time for me and I feel I’m just getting started!” Usually upbeat Bjorlin scowling, livid at the poor-Moore emphasis—extra love very hard to come by for the beautiful, but obscure Nadia. “I’m the CHAMPION,” Nadia reminds everyone at the podium—earning boos from the pro-Moore peanut gallery. “Shut up—I’m the champion and I deserve more respect than I’m getting from the networks and my challenger. Mandy, you’re just another swimsuit heading for a beating—you realize that? I’m going to smash you. I’m going to expose you. These people can scream all they want—they’ll be crying once I stretch you out.
Moore in dark purple tie-side bikini, white gloves; hair back in scruffy beach bun. Nadia in gold bra style bikini, black gloves, Bjorlin POUNDING her mitts down atop Mandy’s to touch’em up—champ glowering, anxious to get started.
During R1: NADIA GOES DOWN! Moore hanging back behind her jab, slings a series of heavy sidearm rights, taking Nadia behind her ear. Bjorlin clobbered off balance—reels forward, then pitches to hands and knees, face first at ropes, staring out in astonishment. Crowd roars to its feet, exulting in Bjorlin’s distress: groggy champ struggles up off the mat on pride alone—takes 8. Mandy hopping-to, lithe for a big girl—she’s patient with Nadia—pounding relaxed, heavy jabs at Bjorlin’s raised guard, looking to lean in/clean up the right cross. Mandy twisting supple with her cross—lovely torso rotation getting tons of big-girl leverage. Nadia hurt, sliding to her left—Moore stepping-with, stalking, keeping the heavy jab on Nadia’s chest. Bjorlin doing a nice job moving her head—good deep bob at the waist, rotating her torso; Moore switches to the waistline with big, whacking sidearm right hands and loose, slinging hooks CHUP! CHUP! Mandy nice and big on Nadia—shoving the champ in her shoulders to brace herself at the ropers—challenger doing a good job of keeping her distance and balance. Bell: Moore hops away beaming—mission accomplished!
R2: Bjorlin shakes off Mandy’s sock—gets into a rapid bobbing/weaving rhythm to get inside Moore’s jab. Moore frowning, backing up as Nadia penetrates—Bjorlin able lead and score with blunt right hands off the shoulder. Mandy up against the ropes as Bjorlin pushes in close, fights off chest this round. Moore cupping her hands at Nadia’s ears, pulling champ’s head down, just controlling her up top: Bjorlin squirming to clobber blows around Mandy’s beefy arms. Nadia more productive downstairs—bursting sudden lefts and rights across Mandy’s soft midsection and waist—champ often following through with elbows to draw warnings. Bjorlin also warned for rough head-work—she’s in there pushing on Mandy, forehead finding Moore’s face. Mandy grimacing—unable to fight her way off the ropes: she works hard to push Nadia’s arms down, trying to bog the compact Bjorlin down with beefy clinches.
R3: Mandy wide stance midring, knees bent—nice fluid jab slightly backhanded, snapping out at Nadia. Moore’s face frowning with concentration—pumping her stick, easing back whenever Nada crouches to pounce: Moore not quick, but good anticipation is ruining Bjorlin’s positioning. Midway through—Nadia running into the jab, covering up, then getting pushed off as Moore gets beefy: Mandy pumping stick, pumping stick and NAILING Nadia the big right uppercut! Bjorlin suddenly limp, hands down at as she tilllllts backward: pouncing Moore finds a slinging right cross and a mop up left hook to PUT BJORLIN DOWN! Crowd again responding with mad love—Nadia sprawled on her back, baring throat, tits and tummy—BUT BJORLIN WON’T HAVE IT! Somehow, the champs rolls over her right side—rises—stumbles face first into ropes—hangs on to prevent herself from going down—mumbles a drunken protest to ref that stops hi from calling it. Moore deep breathing. Relaxing even as her eyes harden: she wades in to finish. Bjorlin out on her feet, but curvy-strong at the ropes: champ earmuffs up, tilts forward and sponges the beating of a lifetime as big Mandy takes some hellacious cuts. Bell: Bjorlin swaying on the spot, but standing; Mandy’s chest heaving, eyes blazing.
R4: Bjorlin’s face already swelling tragically—she grimly plods forward. Mandy mouthbreathing, left hand very low as pops a loose up-jab; Bjorlin parries with both hands, answers back a stubby right hand on the mouth. Moore coaxed to ropes: Nadia wading into her—girls grind heads, push at each other’s arms as they lean in. Phone booth banging—Moore occasionally licking the odd lanky uppercut or hook, trying to tighten up stroke inside. Bjorlin pushy-shovey, working her head in there, suddenly erupting with vicious left/rights across Mandy’s fleshy chest or stout ribcage. Nadia hard to unseat once she gets to a girl’s chest—Mandy able to wrestle and push enough inside to slow the action, but she’s being pinned down and worked over as Nadia once again recovers well from disaster.
R5: Nadia lands that walk-in, stubby right cross lead to chin: THERRE GO MANDY’S LEGS! Moore saddened by the shot—staggers back, hands down—legs shabby. Nadia grimly pushes in—girls immediately grope at each other, knuckling each other’s biceps. Pushing each other’s hands down as heads/faces rub. Moore walked to ropes: she’s not pushing Nadia off as forcefully as earlier. Similar rhythm to the fourth: once Bjorlin’s in there, she fights off Mandy’s chest—squirming and writhing, wrestling and shoving until she can snap off that brutal left/right side-to-side combo. Moore’s grimacing—boy work really draining her, and Nadia’s starting to slam away at Mandy’s brawny biceps as well.

R6: Moore regains traction, all starts with the jab. Moore in wide stance, left at her hip—she’s snapping it out there vigorously, keeping Nadia back. Bjorlin slightly wobbly butt since the third round—she’s easily rejected by poke or shoved back once she covers up without gaining position. By the midway point, Moore starting to turn into her shots again—wonderful torso-rotation on that walloping right hand, same again on licking hooks: Bjorlin nibbling her gloves, bobbing and weaving to get under this stuff if she can.
R7: Moore’s fatigue showing up in her jab: she’s carrying that left hand awful low, and bringing it back slow. Bjorlin bobbing, moving her head, then countering with that sudden blurt of a right cross: Moore always surprised when her mouth gets punched, stumbles away wobbly butt. Nadia penetrates to chest—forces Mandy’s back to ropes: Bjorlin’s hands push at Mandy’s inner-elbows, heads rubbing at Mandy’s face as shorter girl pushes taller girl into cables. From here, Nadia can work her thudding magic—tearing at Moore’s torso with that savage left/right (including elbows); bashing at Moore’s biceps; ripping the left hook to Mandy’s stomach, then doubling up into a left uppercut to chin, Moore loosening—HER face swelling badly now. She’s lolling forward, trying to tie up, mouth breathing as Nadia bludgeons away.
R8: More Nadia. She’s inside on Moore early, driving Mandy to ropes: Mandy grimacing at the hated touch of vinyl at her back, Bjorlin bumping and jostling, crowding and pushing just to free up the odd burst: she’s belting Mandy to body, then surprising her to head with increasing effectiveness. Moore answering back all big: riding her forearm on Bjorlin’s upper back; tieing up Bjorlin’s arms and pulling the champ forward while leaning back into ropes. Mandy able to slow Nadia’s assault, but unable to stop mit as Bjorlin won’t be discouraged.
R9: More Nadia. Mandy groggy and determined—really taking a beating now as her head jerks aside from clouts, body cringes from tuff rips. Moore still farm-girl strong with her clinching—leaning on Bjorlin, writhing her arms against Nadia’s as the girl try to get hand position inside. But Bjorlin won’t be backed off the perimeter—body work wicking Mandy’s strong legs of strength; leverage helping to keep Moore off balance and unable to employ her power efficiently. Ugly, squirming stuff, but more points for Nadia.
R10: Moore too exhausted to box for position—she fades to ropes, immediately engaging in more of this grim clutch-grab-push-and-clout routine. Moore finally getting to Nadia with smooth, strong right uppercuts—big Mandy just arching her back, turning her hips slightly left to pull these strokes up across Nadia’s right cheek. Bjorlin buzzed by Mandy’s best punching in several rounds, but still too stubborn to be dislodged: she knows chest-position is everything against this opponent. Nadia stays on Mandy with body blows, bicep punching, erupting combination and vicious left uppercuts-off-hooks, simply outworking her taller opponent, Goes to the cards, comes back UD10 close for the winner…and STILL welterweight champ—Nadia Bjorlin.
After: Mandy’s army booing their hearts out, but Nadia’s hardcore faithful cheering in support: Champ guts out a murderous welterweight title defense for the ages. Bjorlin battered wreck, but relatively upbeat—it’s one of the biggest wins of her young career. “Mandy’s strong, stronger than I thought,” Bjorlin concedes in postfight. “But she’s flawed. She’s slow afoot and I was able to get on top of her whenever I wanted. I told you I’d expose this kid and I did. She needs work—tons and tons of work—before she can consider herself to be serious threat to Nadia Bjorlin!” Moore nonplussed--badly battered and obviously aching, but she’s classy enough to offer words in defeat. “I counted my eggs before they hatched,” a rueful young starlet admits, “When I put her down for the second time—I felt I’d stopped her, and I lost focus. I never really got it back—I mean, I hurt her a few more times, but we were fighting her fight at that point and I just couldn’t get her off me. I don’t need ‘tons’ of work: all I need is a few hours going over the tape of this fight, and I’ll know what I need to do for next time. I’m determined to be champion, and now, I’m just as determined to take care of Nadia as well.”
