ALEXANDRA DADDARIO VS ROSAMUND PIKE (Writing: Archer / Results: Lookout!)
Before: Rising young fighting starlet, Rampant Fighting’s Alexandra Daddario finds her matched with veteran British fighter celebrity Rosamuund. Alexandra sweet and polite in the pre-fight period, tells reporters: “This is a big step forward for me. It’s an honor to be fighting someone of Rosamund Pike’s stature. I will be doing my best to show that I belong in the same ring with her.”
Rosamund seems cool: “I will admit that I don’t know much about Alexandra, but I do know that I not about to be used to fatten some ingenue’s record. Alexandra will have to earn my respect and there is only one way to do that.”
Alexandra smiles tightly and says: “Now don’t you worry. By the time our fight is over, I guarantee you’ll know who I am.”
Fight night comes around and finds Alexandra in a bright red bikini, halter top supporting her impressive rack. Hair is tied in a long ponytail with a bright red bow. Red gloves complete her attire. Rosamund has gone with a silver sports bra and black bikini trunks. Hair in battle braid with silver gloves. Both fighters composed during instructions, though Alexandra’s eyes are bright with excitement, Rosamund’s narrowed and cool as she surveys her younger rival.
During R1: Alexandra comes forward with some popping rights and lefts that knock Rosamund’s head back and she follows up with some solid hooking to Ms. Pike’s midsection. Rosamund steps back with a frown and then gets her jab going as Alex comes after her. Nice crisp exchange, Alexandra knocking on the door and Rosamund countering with vigor. Alex starts to move around Rosamund and scores some nice shots off the British fighter’s head. Rosamund striking back at Alex’s head, but the younger woman has enough head movement to dodge much of the older fighter’s punching. Action seems careful as the round wears on, both fighters studying each other, but Alexandra remains the busier and ends up taking the round.
R2: Rosamund Pike showing that veteran spirit by striking back hard in the opening moments of the second stanza. Rosamund bobbing and weaving to draw Alexandra’s attention and then unloads with a muscular right that smashes Alex’s head around, the red bow on her ponytail slapping across her face. Alex reeling, but her strong legs do not fail her and keep her standing as Rosamund swarms in. Desperate moment for Alexandra, she’s been hurting and she’s being driven back to the ropes by the experienced Rosamund. She manages to slip away from Rosamund and force the veteran to pursue out to midring. Here Alexandra covers up face-in gloves and endures a fierce swabbing of her ribs by the aroused Rosamund. Alexandra does keep moving and gets her jab going late, but the round goes to the British fighter by a wide margin.
R3: Rosamund not about to let up the pressure on the young fighter. She is all over Alexandra from the opening bell and the young fighter takes a lot of punishment especially to the ribs. Those flanks are shining as Rosamund treats them like a living heavy bag. She raises her fire to pound Alexandra’s proud rack and the American fighter’s face twists in humiliation at not being able to defend her assets. The jugg mugging has the added benefit of breaking up Alexandra’s high guard and late in the round, Alexandra gets banged up about the face creating reddened, swelling areas around her eyes and cheeks by the end of the round. Rosamund dripping with sweat at the bell, wipes her forehead with her forearm and takes in the sight of an unsteady young Alexandra trying to get back to her stool. Shutout win on all cards, but without a knockdown. American is banged up, but she still’s standing, British veteran clearly has more work to do.
R4: Rosamund hoping to rattle Daddario’s legs this time and goes to the belly early and often, trying to put some numbness in those American stems. She does put some tremors down Alexandra’s legs at times, but the American is fighting back now and with an effective jab. Rosamund’s face down getting reddened and swollen as she keeps fighting that jab to stay close and find the Rampant fighter’s chin. Unfortunately for Rosamund, she can do no more than make some sliding clips to Alexandra’s chin and jaw, while Alex is clipping some short uppercuts into the veterans chin, making her head bobble more than once. Final minute is one of rising intensity as the two battle for control. The bell rings and they don’t hear it. Ref has to push them apart. The two fighters stand glaring defiantly at each other drenched with sweat, faces swollen and bloody. Intense moment, then both curtly turn away and march to their respective corners. Judges find Alexandra has won the round, though by a close margin.
R5: More of the same as the two fighters pick up where they left off in R4. Terrific, close-in action as the fighters circle each other and score with effective punching. Crowd is loving this as the momentum first goes Alexandra’s way, but then Rosamund rallies and drives the younger fighter back. However Alexandra rallies herself and pushes the British fighter back. Punches have been landing freely against the head and bodies of both fighter’s, but Alex is driving more and more punches into Rosamund’s belly. Rosamund hunching up late, but still fighting back to the bell. The fighters looking very battered by this point and Rosamund may be feeling her years as she slumps on her stool. The round goes to Alexandra by a narrow margin.
R6: Rosamund makes an effort to come out aggressively this round, but Alexandra catches her with a solid hook to the belly and a ripping uppercut off the chin. Rosamund staggering back, tries to recover as Alexandra closes in on her. Alex not reckless in charge, but she is relentless, trying to ensure that the veteran doesn’t have time to recover. Rosamund jabbing but looks arm-weary and as the round wears on, she looks increasingly exhausted. At the two minute mark, Alex sees an opening and smashes the British veteran’s jaw with a left and then a right. Then a driving right uppercut to the chin. Rosamund’s left leg buckles and she just crashes into the canvas at Alexandra’s feet. The younger fighter scrambles to the neutral corner and watches anxiously as Rosamund manages to use her arms to lift her upper body off the canvas, but she can’t seem to get her legs to function. As the count reaches ten, Rosamund Pike hangs her head and accept that she has lost. Big smile on Alexandra’s face as the ref raises her arm in victory.
The Winner: Alexandra Daddario (KO6)
After: Alexandra goes over and assists Rosamund Pike to her feet in the aftermath, She hugs and veteran as they exchange a few words. “I told her what a tough fighter I thought she was,” Alexandra says later to the press. “She really gave me a work out and I have to tell you, she had me worried a couple of times there. I am very pleased with this fight, I think I showed I can come back from adversity and win. I can’t wait for my next fight.”
Rosamund Pike says: “Of course, it was a disappointment to not even go the distance. Alexandra certainly earned my respect. I think she has an excellent future in celebrity boxing. Fight her again? Oh, I think once was quite enough. I will just look elsewhere for future opponents.”
