Throughout her tempestuous BBU career, Samia has longed for a fight on an FCBA PPV card, and now she gets it, the 32 year old Brit paired up with 28 year old Leighton, a girl who’s boxing career has gone into freefall lately.

New girl Samia is first into the ring, wearing a white bikini tonight with matching gloves and boots, and she’s looking at the taller Leighton who wears a black T-shirt and black leather hotpants, red gloves, and red boots.

Round 1

The girls come together quickly in the centre of the ring, and it’s Leighton who lands the first punches, two straight lefts into Samia’s face, which send the little Brit backwards, and she watches while Leighton circles, looking like a terrified rabbit in the headlights as Leighton gets her into range again, and the taller girl bounces one, two, three punches off Samia’s face, the little Brit looking bewildered, making a terrible start to her first FCBA fight, although Leighton’s confidence is low, so she’s not advancing as quickly as she should, allows Samia time to recover, and the shorter girl dodges the next punch she throws, gets inside her guard and pops her, smack, smack, then darts clear again, Leighton not following, and the American again misses her target with another intended headshot, Samia creeping inside her lead, hitting her to the body twice more, quick, sharp punches, skipping clear before Leighton can respond. Both girls
take their time a little more now, Leighton finding Samia with a nice right jab to keep her back, Samia unable to repeat the success she had in the mid section of the opening round.

Round 2

The girls are again standing off, Leighton soon becoming restless, swinging at Samia, but missing, and Samia comes in, snaps punches off to Leighton’s ribs, and she clinches to stay safe, the Brit a stronger cookie than she might look. The referee parts the boxers, Samia quick to skip clear of any early recrimination from Leighton, and she again misses her intended target, Samia swaying sideways, then nipping in quickly, jabbing at Leighton’s body, and clipping her across the jaw with a neat little left hook, but she takes a solid jab to the face in return before she gets out of range, and she’s covering up as Leighton smacks a pair of hefty punches into her body, and follows that with a left hook to her head, but again Leighton doesn’t follow up her advantage, giving Samia a chance to recover her senses, almost looking as though she doesn’t want to hurt the little Brit, who stays out of harm’s way again, Leighton giving her a good right to the ribs, but other than that, the round peters out, Samia looking content to take it.

Round 3

Samia comes out quickly, and she darts inside to hit Leighton’s midsection with a left, and with a right, stepping back quickly to keep clear of the taller girl’s intended right hook to her face, and now she gets in again, this time rapping a left jab into Leighton’s mouth, but that seems to have galvanized the American into action at last, as she swipes a right hook into Samia’s ear, and follows that with a left jab, and another, Samia’s head snapping backwards, and she holds as soon as she is able. The referee parts the girls, and Samia’s darted clear again, Leighton after her though, and the taller girl starts cutting down Samia’s space, working her to a neutral corner, her left hook slamming into Samia’s face twice to move her along a little – but Samia holds again, Leighton getting a little too close, and she needs the referee to pull Samia off her again, the little Brit hitting Leighton on the break, the taller girl taking a right hook to the jaw there, but responding more quickly, rapping Samia across the face with a left and a right as she begins to look the better fighter.

Round 4

This time Leighton looks like she means business, and she whips a left hook into Samia’s body for starters, still takes a little too long to follow that up, though, but she stings Samia with a right cross, and this time the Brit can’t hold as she steps backwards towards the ropes, Leighton standing back now, giving it to Samia with a solid right jab, parting the girl’s gloves, following with a clubbing left hook to her body, and another, and she hurts Samia with another sweet right cross, the girl’s head flicking sideways, but she defends well again as Leighton mistimes a body shot, although that right cross sends Samia backwards again when it crashes into her mouth, and she’s looking vulnerable with Leighton taking her time, hitting her in the body with her left, ending the round nicely by punching Samia to the face three times as the little girl’s defense begins to crumble.

Round 5

Leighton looks more confident now, more like her old self, carrying her gloves a little lower, and she rifles a left hook into Samia’s ribcage, the Brit yelping as that lands, but Leighton isn’t following up again, and Samia’s able to get over that, avoids Leighton’s intended right jab, and sneaks inside, gives the American a right hook to the midsection, then unloads on her face with three good shots, takes a right to the jaw in return, but gets away before she takes too much punishment. Leighton looks surprised at Samia’s aggression, and she’s letting the Brit get back into this fight, Samia again hitting her in the ribs, Leighton slow to respond, but when she does, it’s with venom, ripping a right cross into Samia’s jaw, hooking her to the body with the left, but missing with her next hook, Samia stepping back, hurt but still in there, and she even gives Leighton a snappy little one-two to close out the round.

Round 6

Leighton’s gone back into her shell as the sixth round begins, and Samia’s scoring well, gives the American a neat left and right hook combination to the ribs, and she follows that by landing a left uppercut on the younger girl’s chin, which sends her back half a pace, Samia getting a little cocky now, stepping forwards at Leighton, who suddenly looses off a pair of stunning left hooks in Samia’s face, gives her a right cross to send her backwards on her heels, before snapping her head backwards with another left hook, Samia’s knees giving way, and she crumbles to the canvas, rolling over to her side, and pushing herself up to beat the count at 7, but that knockdown has set her back, and she’s not so quick on her feet after that, getting pushed around in the later stages of the round, looking shabby backed up to the ropes.

Round 7

Samia isn’t looking at all happy, and she’s slowed right down, Leighton still taking her time, though, not wanting to get caught, hits Samia with a left hook over the top of her guard, and the Brit staggers again, but she manages to cover her body as Leighton comes in hard, whipping her gloves into Samia’s midsection to cause her maximum discomfort, first her right, then her left, Samia soaking up the punishment, each blow bringing a little cry of anguish, as Leighton gives her another right to the flank, and the older girl really felt that, her gloves dropping, and Leighton bangs her to the jaw with that right cross, pokes her backwards, but Samia manages to get inside her guard and clinch, Leighton again getting frustrated and untidy, and she loses her timing a little, which lets Samia off the hook, albeit briefly, as Leighton jabs the Brit, right, left, right again, Samia’s face looking marked around her eyes now, and Leighton ends the round
with a left uppercut which scorches past Samia’s face, just glancing off her cheek, but it sends her to her stool with a stumble in her step at the bell.

Round 8

Leighton’s looking for Samia now, and she’s not bothering about any consequences, confident that the Brit isn’t going to land any decent punches, just concentrate on survival, which may be tricky, because Leighton gets her right cross through Samia’s guard again, sending her to the ropes, and she’s static there! Leighton gives her a right to the midsection, and now a left hook to the mouth, and down goes Samia, on her knees as she starts to rise – Samia gets back up, but Leighton shakes her head, gives the dazed girl a right cross, another left hook, then a right hook, and that’s finished Samia, who can’t beat the count this time, even though she tries, before falling backwards onto her back.

Result: Leighton Meester knocked out Samia Ghadie in round 8.

For a while, it looked like Samia was in with a chance in that fight, but Leighton had too much ammunition on the night, and she may have Samia’s British stablemate, Michelle Keegan in her sights for her next fight. Samia? There’ll be a few girls licking their lips at the thought of fighting her – she was durable tonight, but didn’t show anything in terms of punching power to frighten too many of the other flyweights.
