Jennifer Lawrence (Blnd, 24yo, 5'7”/Ginny's Academy) vs Taylor Cole (Brun, 30y/o, 5'8+”/Fighting Academy)
Words: simgrrl; result: Lookout

Before: It's Academic! Two different Academy's; two different girls; two missions. One more hard fight for hottie Jennifer 'J-Law' Lawrence - all thanks to her own management team! Taylor Cole has won 36 fights, 27 by knockout; she's beaten (almost) every ranked contender of consequence in the lightweight division. Her most frequent victims were (Note: a * after the name indicates title fight): Theron* (twice), Righetti (twice), Palicki* (twice), O'Dell* (twice), Biel, Garner, Peregrym, Helfer, and Kelly Brook*. Other Cole victims of note were: Cassidy Freeman, Cat Bell, Natasha Henstridge and Torrie Wilson. Her victims are a veritable who's who of welterweights!

Lawrence's list of conquests isn't nearly as illustrious, but then she's been around a far shorter time. But on knockout percentage, J-Law's 10 of 12 KO's (83%) ranks slightly ahead of the Cole's (75%)! Unlike Taylor, who has fought eleven championship fights (winning 4 of 9 title fights and defending her own title twice) Lawrence has ONE title fight on her resume (and that was loss; a 4th round TKO to Yvonne “The Killer” Strahovski.) So if 'pressure' can be inferred by title contests, Cole is the more “tested”. Cole is also a few years older (6) and she's taller. An 'eyeball' examination tells us that Lawrence is probably the heavier woman - by a bit - and while it's not easy to tell from photos, several writers think she is also stronger. But as everyone knows, size and strength don't always determine a winner.

Heart, talent, skill...and luck...they all play a part. As do tactics! And don't forget management! Both have solid, experienced, management - trainers who guided others to a top ranking. When they step into the ring tonight, however, it is up to those two fighters to follow instructions and adjust on the fly to constantly changing situations. For that reason alone, Cole was established the early 5:2 favorite over Lawrence. Not overwhelming, for sure, but indicative of how “experts” perceive them: Cole, at her physical peak, Lawrence, in her ascendance. Anything can happen!

* * *

Both fighters more than willing to talk to the press beforehand. Cole telling her press conference, “I really like Lawrence as a fighter. She's tough, not afraid to stand and trade - and she's proved she can deliver a blow. But I see a youngster still learning her craft; who's making mistakes, but covering them with aggressiveness. She takes risky chances against lesser fighters - for the most part - and gets away with it! She hasn't fought a Charlize Theron or an Amanda Righetti, as I have. She didn't beat Strahovski in her first big test. She's got a few “names” on her resume, but they're not 'top drawer' names. Garner was 'over the hill' when Lawrence beat her. She beat Biel when she was struggling, a shadow of her former self. She fought Katy Perry before she was....well, she lost to Perry who wasn't yet the 'real Perry' was she?. 'JAY LAW' still has a long way to go as a fighter. Tonight will be another lesson, a big step; more education for a very young, very eager, very vulnerable, fighter.”

* * *

Lawrence showing the same confidence - 'cockiness'? - she showed winning her “Oscar.” She's a quote machine and the press loves her for it...plus her good looks and an 'all natural' figure endear her to fans. J-Law loves the microphone and the camera loves J-Law. “I'm excited to be facing Taylor Cole this weekend,” she gushed, her cheeks radiating a healthy pink glow. “She's been in with greats and tonight she's in the ring with... ME!” (excited squeal) “I am so, so, excited! And don't be fooled by her boasting about her 'record' because, if you look close, you'll see she has a losing record over the last three years!” J-Law checks her notes, continues, “Since October of 2011 she's 3 and 5...that's really nothing to brag about. Over the same time, I',m 13-4-1. I've fought more women than Cole lately and I've done it successfully!”

* * *

Cole's publicity machine quickly fired back with a press release, quoting Cole: “Lawrence lost to 'Pudgy' Cuoco... TWICE...during her so-called 'successful' run and Kaley hasn't worked up the nerve to even come close to a ring with me for years now. Whaddya think 'JAY LAW'S' chances are? Really!”

* * *

Charlize Theron, tracked down by enterprising reporter in the hours before the fight, was asked her opinion of Cole. Bristling visibly, Charlize huffed, “Oh, I guess she's a good fighter; I'll admit that.” Then she grumbles, “But she's got no class. Maybe it's her Texas upbringing; maybe something else; but she refuses to give credit the women who blazed the trail she's walking now. I'm looking forward to sitting ringside to watch Jenny take her apart piece, by sleazy piece.” Asked if there were “some hard feelings” (after Cole gave Charlize a piece of her own by cheekily slapping an autographed 8x11 head shot on Charlize's groggy, sweat-slick, bruised and heaving bosom, after carving her up decisively a year ago) Theron's eyes flash angrily. She stared at the questioner for a long moment before snapping curtly, “No comment!” and stomping away in a huff.

* * *

Lawrence's new theme “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper plays as Lawrence bounces to the ring in her now her familiar baby blue bikini - one just about everyone has seen on the Internet. “I gotta get a pic of me in this on the web site,” Lawrence told a confidant. “It makes me look so much hotter than that one-piece they have now.” Baby blue gloves and baby blue trainers complete the 'baby blue ensemble'; even has her pony tail tied with a baby blue ribbon. Doubtless there's probably baby blue finger and toe nail polish...and who knows what else!

Jennifer's accompanied by her head trainer Sharon Stone, assistant trainer Halle Berry and The Academy's in-house medical staff - sexy blond 'Nurse Sunny' McKay. Jen climbs the steps, bends to step through the ropes; then struts around the ring with her arms raised, acknowledging the cheers of the crowd. She's a very popular young lady and one of the rising stars in Hollywood.

* * *

As she's leaving her dressing room, Cole is braced by a PPV stringer and camera crew. Told of Theron's comments, Cole snarls, “I'm surprised her fat ass still fits in a ringside seat! Aren't they reserved for size zero actresses and models? Charlize butt's a middleweight these days. But, seriously, I'm glad she's gonna be close to the action...though she'll likely get flashbacks to the last time I laid my gloves on her big ol' pampered and protected body. How'd that work out for your 'Gold Plated Has-been Goddess', huh?”

* * *

Theron's expression, as she sits ringside watching the interview live on the big screen, is icy malevolence; lips pursed; eyes narrowed. She pushes herself up out of her seat and climbs the steps to the corner where Lawrence is pacing. Theron leans over and whispers something to Jen who nods. Stone shoos Charlize away, sending her back to her seat between Amanda Seyfried and Teri Hatcher. All three put their heads together, doubtlessly gossiping about Cole.

* * *

Finally, after almost five minutes of delay, Taylor Cole is introduced to the crowd. “And her opponent...a four time champion and the most devastating brunette puncher in the FCBA today...she's beaten Charlize Theron, Amanda Righetti, Adrianna Palicki and Jennifer O'Dell at least two times each. She's the undisputed number one contender for the lightweight AND welterweight belts...MSSSSSSSSSSS TAAAAAAAYLOR COOOOOOOOOOOLE!

* * *

Taylor bounces out from behind the curtain in the same ice-blue bikini she wore to (in her own words) “beat down and dominate” Lawrence's stablemate; friend; close confidant; and iconic blond role model...Charlize Theron. There's no denying Taylor is desperate to claim the status as 'the #1 blonde dominator' by cashing another win over a well-regarded fair-haired foe...this time, Theron's 'close friend' Jen Lawrence. Cole's dark hair is loose and straight, pushed back behind her ears. It's white gloves and white shoes for this sleek brunette who's expression is all business as...WHOA...

Cole's Fighting Academy stablemates are pulling out all the stops! Surrounding her girl is a phalanx of punching pulchritude. Walking in front of Cole, 'The Terminatrix', Kristanna Loken! Flanking Taylor on either side are lithe lovelies AnnaLynn McCord and Kelly Hu. And bringing up the rear (having her back, as it were) come Kristen Bell and Jessica Alba, walking arm-in-arm. As the six sexy sirens glide down the aisle, the crowd rises as one to cheer (OK, some of them are probably jeering, but it's really hard to tell the difference from way up here folks!)
* * *

Cole slips effortlessly thru the ropes and blithly bounces on her toes in her corner, unconcerned at keeping the entire world and the obviously nervous Lawrence, hanging for several minutes. The PPV broadcaster, on the other hand, is ecstatic. They've shoehorned several commercials in during the delay. The referee calls the two together at center ring for the instructions, and Cole brazenly steps up, invading Lawrence's personal space; chesting up to bump breasts with her young rival. Naturally, Jen takes a step back...and Cole moves forward, again bumping bosoms with the young ingenue.

Taylor grins as Lawrence hesitates, then takes a second step back. “Your butt is mine, 'JAY BIRD'! And before this fight's over, I'm taking THIS TOO!” Taylor hisses, pressing her gloved fist into Jen's relaxed belly. “Hmmm, even softer'n Theron!” Cole cackles malevolently.

J-Law reacts as if scaled, leaping back several steps, then she quickly flees to her corner where she's comforted in Stone's embrace. Sharon, unable to hide her concern, turns both of their backs to Cole, whispering frantically in Jen's ear a few last minute instructions...and no doubt, trying to buck up her unexpectedly skittish young filly.

* * * * * *

During R1: Cole looking upbeat and positive after her 'intimidation' of the youngster during the 'faceoff' during prefight instructions. Taylor out breezy and almost cocky - then unleashes a rain of hellfire on the young blond. Lawrence put back on her heels from the opening salvo, rocked by a lead right, then her belly gets cratered by a left hook; then a right up top puts her butt in the ropes. All in the first thirty seconds!! Crouching against the strands, however, J-Law steadies and comes up firing back. COLE'S HURT! Big uppercut rattles Taylor and when Jennifer doubles up on the left hook, she finds punching room coming off the ropes. POP, POP, POP! Three left jabs keep Cole stutter-stepping backward as Lawrence comes roaring back. Fans on their feet at the prospect of a potential round-of-the-year. But the veteran Cole manages to clinch, bogging down the blond; buying time. Second minute of the fight a stark contrast to the fiery action of the first. With both women settling in, the action slows as punches are shortened with exchanges at close quarters; first one, then the other; initiating clinches. It's as if they both realized the frenetic pace of the opening minute might result in their evening coming to a premature end and neither is willing to take the risk. But in the final sixty seconds, Lawrence picks up the pace, stringing together several combinations that keep Cole under wraps for the most part. Bell: it's J-Law moving forward and Cole backing up and that's enough for the judges to give the round (close) to Lawrence.

* * *

R2: Jennifer continues her attack on Cole's body, using the jab to set up digging right hands in under Cole's left elbow time and again. Cole just can't seem to get anything going; consistently being wrong-footed or left punching empty air. Lawrence showing a sharper, crisper, more lethal left hook to the body than we've seen in some previous fights - at least she's using it more often and to better effect. DOWN GOES COLE! Flash knockdown as Cole caught by another short uppie in close. She hits the canvas and bounces back up, but she's obviously hurt! Lawrence showing unaccustomed patience, going back to the body; putting miles on Cole's legs. Lawrence maintaining the upper hand through the final minute, crowding Cole; bobbing and weaving, never giving the brunette a clean look; pressuring Taylor with punches from all quadrants. Taylor finishing the round grumpy and crampy thanks to J-Law's body attack. The score: 10-8, is clear and convincing evidence of the total domination of the round by a young blond wunderkind from The Academy.

* * *

Between: Cole's corner (Torrie Wilson, et. al.) working to rehabilitate their girl between rounds. While others tend to her physical needs, Torrie kneels in front, gesturing with her fists and explaining the changes Taylor must make to counter the adjustments Lawrence had made preparing for the fight. “She's not the same girl you watched on video,” Torrie said, then gave Taylor a quick primer on the changes she would have to make going forward. Lawrence's corner upbeat; Stone having 'gone to school' on Cole working Theron's corner in CT's upset loss in the 'Crusade', now putting the knowledge to work here with J-Law.

* * *

R3: Opening minute of the round and things have changed! Cole opens up lefty, confusing Lawrence long enough to land two right jabs and a left hook to the body that changes Lawrence's baffled frown into a grimace of pain! Cole rocks J-Law again with the left, then as Lawrence reverses to circle the opposite direction (to Cole's right/Jen's left). But Taylor again changes stance and surprises the young blond with a straight right under Lawrence's left breast. The 'heart punch' nearly drops Jen; knees buckling on impact. But she grabs Taylor up high and hangs on until the referee parts them. From there, the round pretty much plays out as the second round had, only this time with Cole in the driver's seat. Lawrence trying to run out the clock to get to the break with no more damage, being tracked down and butt-stuffed into Cole's corner for some harsh body work by Cole for the final forty or so seconds. Bell: Cole gives Lawrence's 'Oscar-winning rump' a spank to send her on her long walk across the ring to join Stone. Cole hi-fiving Torrie as she makes a 10-9 deposit in the score bank.

* * *

R4: First small sign of panic in Lawrence's corner; Stone gesturing wildly, barking at Jen. Halle Berry has to calm things down. Cole looking smug standing for the bell, clapping her gloves together. Taylor straight at Lawrence behind the left jab, picking up J-Law's forehead, snapping her head back. Lawrence bending in, reaching for Cole's body, extending on her punches is leaving her exposed. Cole dropping overhand rights; curling lefts; at her head. Lawrence being roughed up, finally forced to give up on her fixation with Cole's torso. Fighting in a more upright stance, things improve - if only marginally. Her head's no longer the target, now Cole can reach Jen's body with lefts and rights. The young woman who proudly admitted the “leaked” selfies were, yes, really her; doesn't seem to appreciate the attention her body's getting from Taylor Cole's fists! Lawrence again forced to clinch, exposing herself to shorter, less thunderous, punches, but with less chance of blocking them. Still, Jennifer's offense proves better in this stance and she puts up a spirited resistance in the final minutes. Bell: Taylor gives J-Law's glutes another smack as she turns away. Lawrence glares over her shoulder, but knows she won't stop until she makes her stop! The round, while close, goes Cole's way.

* * *

R5: Cole wins her third straight, taking control of the fight at the midway point; surging ahead on all three judges cards. Lawrence still unable to penetrate Cole's defense. Taylor's switching back and forth, leftie-rightie, is keeping Jennifer off balance and unsure of herself. She's trying valiantly to adjust, but she's always a beat or two out of synch and in those moments, Cole's landing some hard blows. Lawrence may be a great actress, but even she can't hide her frustration; it's clear on her face and in her body language. She slows Cole by clinching, preventing the brunette from using her legs, but at the cost of giving Cole easy access to her body. Lawrence resorting to the uppercut more often, sometimes it connects, but often Cole is able to lean back or straighten up just enough that it misses, which leaves J-Law within striking range with her right hand over her head, giving Cole a clear shot at her torso. Only in the final minute does Lawrence connect cleanly with an uppercut and although it puts a shimmy in Coles thighs, it doesn't come close to putting her down or even making her back up. No obvious damage, but a clear “time of possession” edge for Cole who pockets points after another close round - and without having to expend a lot of energy doing it!

* * *

R6: Lawrence ends Cole's winning streak! Small, incremental, adjustments over the last two rounds bear fruit as Jennifer gets on the board. Right from the bell, Lawrence putting up a sounder defense, denying Cole the free looks at her mid-section she was getting the previous several rounds. No longer pursuing her prey, J-Law's new tactic is stake out a piece of turf center ring and make Cole come to her. At first, Cole rejects the 'offer' and stays outside, picking and pecking Jennifer like trying to scratch an itch you can't quite reach. Soon, Taylor grows frustrated as Lawrence patiently pivots on her left (front) foot, keeping Taylor in front of her while forcing Taylor to move around the perimeter of the circle defined by the radius of J-Law's jab. She is snapping off an occasional jab to satisfy the judges, but she scuffs up Cole several times with the right when she jumps out, punches as Taylor's shuffling her feet, then resets before Cole can set herself to shoot back. Finally, Taylor Cole accepts that Jennifer isn't going to come to her, so she stops circling and sits down on her punches. They go toe-to-toe - Lawrence's kind of fight - and Jen uses the opportunity to her advantage. Cole hasn't made J-Law expend much energy this round, so the young blond is the fresher fighter down the stretch. Jen hooks Cole's body, then a straight right puts the brunette on her heels. Instead of stepping back on defense, this time Lawrence keep coming; following up with an overhand right that drives Cole to the ropes! There, Jennifer chests up and they take turns bludgeoning each others body for the rest of the round. A last second right to the midsection that sends shockwaves through Cole's taut body proves enough for Lawrence to eke out a 1 point advantage in what otherwise may have been an even round.

* * *

R7: Jennifer eagerly back to work, on her feet before the bell. She charges out, almost tackling Cole off her stool, slamming into her and driving her back to the turnbuckle. There, Jen plants her forehead on Cole's chest, then hammers away at the brunette's waist, flanks and, every so often, a hip! Cole crouching low behind a peek-a-boo defense, taking many punches on her gloves, biceps, elbows and the top of her head - in addition to her lats, kidneys and shoulders. All in all, it's a hurricane of leather from Lawrence, but none of it doing real damage. Taylor patiently waits out the storm, then comes up firing herself. Cole storming across the ring, blowing J-Law back with non-stop punching. Lawrence 'running' but doing it in good order and under control; her 'rear guard' left jab giving her time and space to organize her thoughts...until she runs into the ropes. There, she's cornered and forced to make a stand. Both women going to the uppercut at close quarters, the celebrity woman boxer's equivalent of a pirate cutlass; great for close quarters - but not as good as, say, a blunderbuss! Which is what Lawrence pulls from her bag of tricks when she lands a HUGE uppercut after pulling Cole's head down. Cole's knees unhinge and she staggers back wide-eyed, nearly falling on her backside! Lawrence misses badly with a hastily thrown right, but her left glances high off Cole's right side forehead doing enough to keeps Taylor stumbling backward. J-Law hustles after the wounded brunette, but Cole again manages a veteran clinch to buy time. They wrestle belly to belly and as the referee tries to break them apart, Cole swings Jennifer around and throws her at the referee (inadvertently). She goes windmilling past the startled official to the ropes with Cole in pursuit! Taylor leaps at Jennifer and crashes into her chest-to-chest, wrapping her arms around the ropes and bearhugs the beautiful young blond. The referee at last catches up with them and with a restraining hand on each of their upper chests, separates them and shoves them well away from each other, then signals them to resume. They stand toe-to-toe along the ropes trading with either hand: Lawrence (right); Cole (left); Lawrence (left); Cole (right) and so forth. Neither missing her turn, swapping leather to the bell. Scoring the round is tough, but it ends another close one in Jen Lawrence's column.

* * *

R8: Jen wins her third consecutive round, answering Cole's 'three in a row' with her own 'three-peat'! J-Law bouncing up and down in her corner waiting for the bell; Cole getting last minute advice from her corner. Both step out and circle left, pumping jabs, rights cocked and locked at their cheek. Crucial round in a fight which stands 4-3 in rounds favoring Jen Lawrence, and the points are close, so it's still anybody's ball game if it comes down to a decision. Cole knows she's trailing and so she ups her aggression level early, stepping in to punish the young body she and her management have decided is vulnerable to exploitation. Cole with a left hook right side ribs; right low to the left side; another hook, this one to the juggs. She's got Lawrence backing up under duress. Left jab; left jab; right cross! JEN'S HURT! Lawrence rocked by the right, hanging on, cheek on Cole's left shoulder! Cole digging to the body, Lawrence grunting in pain. DOWN GOES TAYLOR! A Lawrence uppercut finds Cole's chin and the brunette crumples in a heap at her feet! Pandemonium! Jennifer, still surging forward, trips over Taylor and sprawls on her belly. Referee, scrambling to get in position, has to avoid Lawrence getting hurriedly to her feet. Lawrence spins around looking for the neutral corner and bumps into the referee! By the time everyone gets straightened out, Cole is sitting up looking around in confusion. She beats the count but she's shaky and shocky. Referee gives her a hard look before he allows the fight to continue. Lawrence in to finish! Jen jab, jab, jabbing, rangefinding, then leans into a 'go home' right hand that Cole miraculously avoids with a last second twitch of her head/shoulders. Even so, the punch catches her on the ear and she goes stumbling along the ropes with her right hand clutching the top strand. J-Law walking beside her, trying to get around front to land the fight-ending punch. Cole suddenly spins off the ropes and falls into Lawrence's arms, hugging her around the neck with both arms. Lawrence backing up, dragging Cole with her; Taylor's legs limp, her feet not under her, just sliding along over the canvas. Jen pumping her fists into both flanks of the devastated brunette as she drags her with her across the ring until it dawns on her to prop Cole up in the corner and finish her. While J-Law's stacking Taylor upright against the turnbuckle, the referee steps in to give Cole a 'standing eight' and sends Lawrence to the far corner. The eight count ends with Cole holding her gloves, shakily, up in front of her and when the ref asks if she's 'OK?' she nods and slaps her gloves together. As Lawrence comes running out of the corner, the bell rings ending the round. J-Law wheels a 270 and heads back to her corner shaking her head in dismay at her missed opportunity. The two knockdowns give Lawrence a shutout that puts her in command with two to go!

* * *

R9: Cue Cole comeback. DOWN GOES J-LAW! A straight right hand puts Lawrence down in the first twenty seconds of the round! Up and swaying, Lawrence manages to clinch for thirty or more seconds, giving her a valuable chance to clears some of the fog. Jen doing the minimum the rest of the first half of the round. Lots of holding by the blonde, lots of pushing and shoving, trying to shed the blond by the brunette. It's not pretty, but it's two women intensely scrapping with everything they have to win. Lawrence not too proud to clutch, grab, hold, hang on around Taylor's neck or even pull her into a side headlock at one point to stymie her. Cole headhunting at every opportunity, whenever she can untangle herself and find room to swing she whistles punches in the general direction of Lawrence's head. But J-Law is doing a great job keeping her head shielded behind her gloves, elbows and turning shoulders...or just burying her chin in Taylor's neck and hanging on like a leech! But Taylor's not neglecting paying attention to Lawrence's suspect midsection she talked about prefight. It may not be the “off switch” she wants, but the damage is accumulating during Jen's clinches and with the round winding down, Lawrence is wilting under the barrage of body blows. She's being out punched by 3 and 4 to 1 in the clinches and it shows. Cole in total command, cleaning her girl up all the way to the bell - but she missed the knockdown she desperately wanted to get. Cole upbeat, arms raised after giving J-Law another slap on the rump as she sends her back to her corner (literall with a spanking this round!) Lawrence grimacing, stepping gingerly back to her stool; she's showing every sign of a young fighter who's in deep, deep, trouble against a veteran fighter. Round to Taylor Cole (wide) to narrow the gap to a manageable number going to the tenth, and final, round. (Tractorpull at ringside, eagerly anticipating extras!)

* * *

R10: J-Law responds! Jen cranky off her stool; limping to center ring; setting herself. Body language says it all, she's digging in for a 'last stand' defense of her lead. Cole, knowing she's behind, attacking with a vengeance! Cole unable to get anything going as Lawrence's hedgehog defense is the rock upon which Cole's wave smashes itself, then recedes! Cole suddenly ging rocked, then shaken again mid-round as Lawrence shakes off the ennui and mounts a counterattack! Midway, Cole mounting a desperation comeback with time winding down on her chances of victory. But Cole's second/third comeback is cruelly derailed when Lawrence lands a slick left hook to the body, followed by the right cross that leaves Cole sprawled at the ropes on her backside! Cole manages to gamely drag herself to her feet, but she's an exhausted; used up; a battered wreck. Lawrence, shedding her guise of 'used up' shows her true colors as she breezes to the bell; throwing in a few 'Ali shuffles' and even a 'Sugar Ray Leonard flourish' in the closing seconds.

* * *

Ring announcer: “Ladies and gentlemen, we have a unanimous decision. Judge #1 scores it 96-90. Judge #2 scores it 94-93. And Judge #3 scores it 95-91, all for your winner....Jennifer Lawrence!”

Charlize Theron in the ring joins Lawrence in celebration. It has to rankle the “Golden Goddess” seeing her young protege succeed (with Cole) where she failed (in the Challenge). Yet to look at her, Charlize is nothing but supportive of Jen in the moments after the decision is announced. In fact, she even accompanies Jen to center ring for the decision, then raises Lawrence's arm and points proudly to her as the decision is announced and the crowd cheers her victory.

Then Charlize takes out a picture, steps up to Cole and slaps the autographed 8x10 glossy photo of herself on Cole's sweaty chest. “Welcome back, loser!” Charlize hisses as Cole looks down in shock. “You and me have unfinished business. Tell your people to call my people,” Charlize says, then pirouettes and storms away as several of Cole's stablemates came rushing to the ring, including Kristanna Loken, AnnaLynn McCord, Kelly Hu, Jessica Alba, and Kristen Bell. Seeing a looming confrontation in the offing, Sharon Stone waved Halle Berry, Teri Hatcher, and Amanda Seyfried to rally to J-Law's defense. At ringside, Theron watched with calm, disinterest, a smirk curling her lips.

Fortunately, the powers that be intervened to prevent a brawl - bringing down the wrath of the crowd on their heads!

Jen Lawrence watching the drama unfold without expression, then walked up to Taylor, extended her hand and told her, “Nice fight. I'd like to give you a rematch anytime. You're a classy fighter. It's an honor to add your name to my list of victims.” She said the last with a wry smile, but to Taylor it felt like she was rubbing salt in a wound. Cole would NOT forget! Taylor shook her hand cautiously, then backed up to join her stablemates in her corner.

Lawrence winning a UD10, in retrospect, shouldn't surprise anyone, but the manner of it shocked many. Network replays of the fight in days following, showed six rounds were close and two evenly split. But of the remaining four, J-Law won three by a wide margin, with only one going to Cole wide. Those three 'decisive' big rounds were the foundation of Lawrence's UD10 victory!

* * *

Postfight: Lawrence's education continues! “I hoped to lure her into some rash mistakes with my little acting job pretending to be afraid of her at the start,” Jennifer said. “She bought it, but to be fair, she had beaten Theron and I'm still pretty much of a nobody Oscar-winning actress new to boxing. So why wouldn't she fall for it?”

Asked if losing the third, fourth and fifth rounds was part of her “strategy” Lawrence looked shocked. “You mean I lost all three of those rounds? I thought sure I won the fourth, and maybe the fifth. She really didn't hurt me at all in the fifth round. Are you sure about that?”

A petite brunette in a tight dress asked, “Were you at all worried in the ninth when she had you on the ropes ready to go?”

Jen sighed, then admitted, “I'd have to look at the video. I really don't remember much about the ninth round at all. From what I'm told, she really clocked me early and the rest is all a blur. How'd I seem to you?”

When someone asked how it felt to beat “the woman who beat Theron” Lawrence appeared to be genuinely surprised. “I never thought about that,” she said. “Charlize is the greatest fighter who ever lived, and to beat ANY fighter with a win over Charlize; well, that's just too amazing for words. I really thought Cole was going to be tougher; I can't imagine how she ever beat Theron.”

* * *

Cole took a moment to acknowledge Lawrence, saying in part, “She was gracious in victory, unlike others who would take every opportunity to boast about their own greatness. Some, might even use a stablemate's victory to show off. But I can't say anything bad about Lawrence. She fought a good, sound, smart fight and she did it fairly and within the rules. It's a pleasure to see some youngsters coming up who actually respect the rules. I can't tell you how many - both veterans and rookies - who have no idea about what it means to be a celebrity boxer in the FCBA.”

A print reporter (one of the few left) asked a follow-up question. “So you're saying Theron has no class?”

Cole set him right. “I'm saying SOME WOMEN have no class. I didn't name names or even hint at any of the several I have in mind. I will say Cat Bell seems to have a lot of class; so does Jen Lawrence. Seriously, how many classy fighters to you expect to have in one stable?”

When she was asked, “Who's next for you?” Taylor looked at her handlers, shrugged and said, “That's not my call. We'll put our heads together and talk it over. There's several I have in mind, but I pay these people a lot of money for their advice and I'd be foolish to dismiss it out of hand.”

With that, the press conference came to an end, although immediately afterward, Cole was seen huddling with both Loken and McCord....one wonders what - or who - was the subject of that heated conversation!
