BEFORE:

"I'm an opponent, I know that," says the woman in the Catwoman outfit. "I'm just here for a stay-busy. But, despite their plans, I didn't come here to lose."

"I'm not looking past her at all," says the woman in the witch costume and mask. "She's got length and she can fight. She's capable of beating plenty of people...but I'm not one of them."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and we're in the fairly unique position of having no idea who's coming to ringside with the costumes and voice distortion in the interviews, and that music isn't helping..."

McCarthy: "What IS that noise?"

Tess: "That would be 'Darklands' by Jesus and Mary Chain, which you would know if you read the prep material."

McCarthy: "For the hundredth time, I don't NEED to read Weirdo's propaganda!"

Cassie: "If you want to know who's doing the music, you apparently DO..."

McCarthy: "Shut it, Scabbo!"

O'Dell: "And, down to ringside comes our 'Catwoman'. She's being helped off with the outfit now and..."

McCarthy: "Who the heck is THAT? Is she even IN the FCBA?"

Tess: "Um, Mac, that happens to be Krysten Ritter, who's a pretty big TV star..."

Cassie: "And, for your information, she's had two FCBA fights in the last two years..."

McCarthy: "And, let me guess, typical Dancing Hooker opponent...NO wins..."

O'Dell: "Ritter sporting a red bikini that shows off a runway body and here's a mystery solved! That's 'Uprising' by Muse and that means the girl in the witch outfit headed to the ring has to be 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

McCarthy: "YES! At least we'll get to see a REAL fighter tonight!"

O'Dell: "Sobieski taps glove to hand with Mac as usual on her way to the ring, climbs in and is helped off with the costume by Jewel and Neve..."

McCarthy: "BOTH of whom would do us ALL a favor if they wore masks tonight...and every night..."

O'Dell: "Leelee wearing that black bikini she prefers and the ladies are about ready. Let's get some picks. Tess?"

Tess: "Leelee may be right about Ritter being able to fight. She's tall and athletic. But, she's giving up a ton of experience to Sobieski. Leelee's the clear favorite."

O'Dell: "Mac?"

McCarthy: "As I said, Sobieski is a real fighter. She'll have no problems with Ritter."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "It's unanimous, and to clear up any confusion, this bout is being fought at catchweight, we're being told, as both fighters made 133."

McCarthy: "That's a few pounds less than Leelee normally fights, but it shouldn't be a problem for her."

O'Dell: "There's the bell and Sobieski immediately looking to work forward behind that heavy left jab..."

McCarthy: "'The Front Street Jab', 'The Front Street Jab', let's get it OVER with..."

O'Dell: "Leelee finding range early with the left, walking forward, looking to drop in right hands. Ritter showing a lot of respect here. She's giving ground, backing and circling, doesn't want to mix it up with Sobieski..."

Cassie: "Ritter normally fights about 128, so she's not giving up a lot of size here. She's almost as tall as Leelee as well, so there's no physical mismatch, but Sobieski has more power and a lot more experience, and it looks like Ritter is wary of both."

O'Dell: "Leelee scoring with both hands as the round goes on. It's mostly lefts landing, but she's getting some rights home as well. Ritter looks to be feeling out. Moving and jabbing. Not very active. Keeping the exchanges short."

Tess: "Ritter has a lot of length, even for her height. Info we're getting from the weigh in shows she has as much reach as Leelee. Not able to make much use of it at the moment, though."

O'Dell: "That, she isn't. Final seconds ticking off, and it's an easy, breezy win for Sobieski."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second round begins with Sobieski again looking to work forward and running into a flurry from Krysten! Ritter holding her ground now and firing back, using some of that length Tess talked about to stop Leelee's advances and create some ranged shelling."

Cassie: "These might be terms Ritter can succeed on. She's athletic and has quick hands. If she can get space..."

O'Dell: "She can do what she's doing right now, which is get off first, put punches together, get Sobieski into counter mode. Ritter all of a sudden boxing lead now, and she's making some hay doing it."

Tess: "One factor might be playing in here. Leelee is one of the quickest welters in the FCBA. She almost always has an advantage in quickness, but, against Ritter, it looks pretty even, Mac..."

McCarthy: "It IS pretty even, Walmart, and this can, as you said, be a problem for a girl who's used to having the edge, just like reach can be a problem for a girl who usually has that edge and then gets into a fight where she doesn't."

O'Dell: "Not sure if that's the issue here or if these terms aren't to Leelee's liking, but, one way or the other, Ritter having by far the better of it this round. She has Sobieski hesitating, covering up, and late on everything. There's the bell and that's the end of the second, and Krysten Ritter just showed she's in this fight."

Tess: "And she's evened it at 19 on the cards."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round underway and Ritter back at Leelee, using the long poke, landing it effectively, throwing the blonde right back onto the defensive as she follows with right hands, creating flurries and forcing Sobieski to cover up..."

Tess: "Looks like Leelee wasn't expecting this from Ritter, Mac..."

McCarthy: "It's not what we've seen from her in the past, as I recall. We couldn't review video for this card, because we didn't know who was fighting, but I think there was a lot more slugging and a lot less boxing in those few fights she's had. And there's not a lot of video of this girl to watch. That can lead to surprises, too."

O'Dell: "Surprise or not, Ritter's got the terms she wants and she's making them work. Sobieski out of sorts, can't get off first and is reduced to almost exclusively the counter. Ritter timing everything well, getting the mitts out and back quickly."

Cassie: "She's not hurting Leelee, but she's scoring plenty with both hands. Moving the feet well, getting good angles. This is impressive stuff from Ritter."

O'Dell: "No question about it. She's been in control from the first second of this round and she stays there as we come down the stretch. There's the bell and it's a gorgeous little smile from Krysten as she heads back to the corner."

Tess: "She has something to smile about, a 29-28 lead through three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round begins and it starts with a big exchange and there's another! Sobieski and Ritter trading heavy shot right in the middle of the ring and Leelee backs Krysten up with a right hand! Sobieski coming forward now, bringing that power to bear. Ritter backing and covering up."

Tess: "We're seeing a real change in the flow of the fight here, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Leelee getting used to Ritter's speed. She started timing her, got off the defensive and started landing first. Now she's got Ritter flipped over to 'D'..."

O'Dell: "She does, indeed. Sobieski has the range with the heavy left jab, and she's using it to stop Ritter, leaving her open for the right hand follows. Krysten countering heavy in spots, but it's the blonde who's in charge out there."

Cassie: "This is where Krysten could have a problem. Leelee is the bigger, stronger girl, and if she can square Ritter up with the jab, the brunette has a problem."

O'Dell: "She's certainly got one right now, because she's getting a lot of leather in her face. Ritter backing and circling, can't hold her canvas. Sobieski working forward, cutting, putting punches together right to the bell. Good round for Leelee, and we're all even."

Tess: "38-38 after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Back to work in the fifth round and Krysten stabilizing her front now. Ritter getting the feet moving a little better, staying off square, using the long jab to create range..."

McCarthy: "She's adjusting, but so is Leelee. Sobieski's getting off quicker, not getting beaten to punches..."

O'Dell: "And Ritter's not being suppressed by the blonde's jab. The result is some good, two-way stuff. Lots of jabs landing. A few follow ups and the odd good exchange."

Cassie: "Got to like what both fighters have done so far. Leelee getting into her game, and Krysten finding a way to solidify."

O'Dell: "And there's plenty to like about what's going on right now. Both women showing quick hands and good accuracy. Both scoring with some solid right hands as we run through the final seconds. There's the bell. Good round. Close, but Sobieski."

Tess: "And Leelee's got the 48-47 edge at the midpoint."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth round begins the way the fifth ended. We have ranged warfare, with two tall fighters using their length to work the jab and create openings for right hands."

Cassie: "Ritter continuing to work to stay off square, showing Sobieski angles. She can't stand in front of Leelee, but she CAN hold her ground if she does it correctly."

O'Dell: "And holding ground is the key. By not allowing Leelee to force her back or to the defensive, Ritter can punch off the front foot and score with both hands. Sobieski, of course, doing the same, and, as a result, we have another good, two-way round."

McCarthy: "At some point, Sobieski's going to want to get a little more aggressive with the power, maybe."

O'Dell: "That she might, but not for the moment. Leelee content to fire shell at range, and she's doing so effectively. Both girls working hard. Both accurate. And neither the work rate nor the accuracy declining as the round goes on. Still lots of good, clean leather being landed right to the bell. Another close one, but Ritter with the edge."

Tess: "Even again at 57 with four to go."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh begins and the pattern is set. Both girls want to box at gunnery range and both showing they can be effective doing it. Lots of movement on both sides, hand, head, feet, shoulders. No dancing or circling, just subtle footwork, always changing the geometry."

McCarthy: "This is really pretty stuff. It reminds me of ME in the ring. So lithe and pretty. Not like that stumbling truck Campbell, whose feet moved like they were in concrete shoes..."

Cassie: "They moved well enough to beat YOU six out of seven..."

McCarthy: "I was robbed TWICE right in that VERY ring! The title was STOLEN from me! The Weirdo and his thugs might as well have knocked me down and taken my PURSE..."

Cassie: "As I recall, NEVE knocked you down PLENTY..."

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "A-HEM...IN the ring, where we should be focusing, we're seeing some very good work from the lovely Krysten Ritter. This is a girl who hasn't had a lot of opportunities in the FCBA, but she's showing she might have the ability to be a pretty solid light with some consistent work..."

McCarthy: "Maybe Weirdo will sign her and dump some of his dead weight, like Decker and Mack..."

Cassie: "Mack. Who ALSO knocked you out. TWICE..."

McCarthy: "The first time, I'd been fighting ALL NIGHT AGAINST AN ALL-STAR TEAM! The second time, I didn't know I was fighting until HALF AN HOUR BEFORE THE FIGHT!"

Cassie: "Jenny, do you think we could start a J-Mac EXCUSE bingo game..."

McCarthy: "YOU'RE ABOUT TO NEED AN EXCUSE FROM YOUR DOCTOR!"

O'Dell: "Calm DOWN, Mac! Let's watch the final seconds of this round. This, again, is good stuff from both fighters, good, solid boxing right to the bell. Another close round. I'd give it to Ritter, though."

Tess: "And that puts Krysten up 67-66 with three to go. And Cassie leads Mac about a million to nothing."

McCarthy: "Shut UP, Walmart!"

O'Dell(sighing): "Drink up, boys."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Back to action in the eighth and Sobieski now working forward behind the heavy left again. Ritter holding ground, firing heavy shot back, but Leelee done with the ranged work and ready for close-in battle. Sobieski forcing Ritter back now, thumping heavy shot at the brunette."

McCarthy: "I was wondering when this was coming. Time to call in the ground troops."

O'Dell: "Ritter fighting a strategic retreat, looking to counter at every opportunity and GETS ROCKED BY A RIGHT HAND! Krysten staggered and Sobieski pouring into the breach! She backs Ritter against the ropes and goes to work with both hands, banging body to drop the guard, then going back upstairs."

Cassie: "Ritter not giving in to this, Jenny. She's covering up some, but she's firing back. Just like we saw in the Michalka fight, no quit in her!"

O'Dell: "Leelee trying to make that quit happen. She's pouring punches into the ribs and midsection, tenderizing Ritter, getting her leaning forward then banging home uppercuts. Krysten has taken some serious shell here, but the legs are holding up. Final seconds tick off and there's the bell. Wide round for Sobieski, but the brunette's still standing."

Tess: "And she's still in the fight. 76-76 after eight."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Ninth round begins with more aggression from Sobieski. Leelee on a seek and destroy mission, but Ritter seems to have the legs back and she's moving well, staying off square, making Sobieski work the feet."

Cassie: "Getting more and more impressed with Ritter as we go..."

O'Dell: "Leelee getting that jab home, finding the range. Krysten sliding and countering and DOWN SHE GOES! Sobieski the right hand and Ritter dropped to her back!"

McCarthy: "Set that up with two good left jabs and landed it flush."

O'Dell: "Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Ritter rolls to her belly. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's over! And your winner by KO9 is 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Leelee Sobieski, and, Leelee, looked like you were intent on finishing her those last couple of rounds."

Leelee: "I like to box, you know, so I didn't have any problem doing that with her. But, she can score points on those terms, and we were coming down the stretch and my corner was telling me it was close, so it was time to get her out of there."

Tess: "You weren't carrying her, though..."

Leelee: "No way. All credit to her. She can fight. No question. This went the way it did because she was good enough to make it go that way."

Tess: "What's next for you?"

Leelee: "Plan is for me to fight once more this year, another catchweight deal. After that? We'll see."
