Miley makes her first defence of the FCBA flyweight belt tonight against an old rival, with Vanessa aiming to end 2014 just as she began it – beating Miley Cyrus!

Vanessa comes to the ring first in baby blue bikini, gloves and boots, with champion Miley making her wait before entering in a shimmering gold one piece, with matching gloves and boots.

Round 1

Last time these girls fought, Vanessa floored Miley in the opening round, but Miley’s improved since then, and she’s using her height and reach now as she circles Vanessa, helping herself to punches almost at will in the opening minute or so, Vanessa having to take these shots, with Miley out of range, but she’s taking her time to settle in, hits Miley with a jab here and a bodyshot there, the advantage with the young champion though as she sweeps a right hook across Vanessa’s mouth, comes up short with a left hook, and Vanessa seizes the half chance to land on Miley, rocking the blonde girl with a speedy jab, cross, jab, and making her cover up, keeping her subdued through to the bell.

Round 2

Vanessa is starting to settle now, and she moves well again, picks off Miley when the girls get up close, and she has her right hook measuring the taller girl up now, uses it once, but Miley sways clear and bats back at Vanessa, gets her left hook home on the older girl’s jaw, and that has her teetering backwards a little, Miley taking encouragement, getting after her, and she bangs a couple of decent shots into Vanessa’s face before the smaller girl can cover herself properly, Miley standing off, perhaps admiring her work a little too much, giving Vanessa time to recover, the brunette clipping her with a right to the ribs to get herself out of trouble, but Miley puts her back there with a brace of jabs, the blonde seeming to be growing into being champion as she controls the final stages of the round, working Vanessa around the ring with ease.

Round 3

And now Miley’s giving Vanessa a hard time in her own corner, finding the brunette with a left and with a right to follow that, and she’s making this a nightmare of an evening for Vanessa now, her punches smacking into the little brunette’s face, beginning to mark her around the eyes as she keeps her static on the ropes, but she can’t quite get through with a big shot just yet, and switches her attack a foot or so lower, bopping Vanessa’s ribs with a right and a left, Vanessa covering up, defending well, managing to clinch as well, doing all she can to run down the clock as she gets the wrong end of the battering being handed out in this round, Miley again snapping her head backwards with a right and a left directly from the latest break, Vanessa once again clinching and spoiling, Miley getting annoyed, but she’s absolutely dominating the challenger here, and just needs to wait, because the girl can’t take this many punches and stay upright.

Round 4

Vanessa looks like she’s already fought a full fight, rather than three rounds, but Miley’s fresh as a daisy, and she starts the round in confident fashion, now looking in less of a hurry to put Vanessa away, and she’s concentrating on her footwork, closing the ring down. But she needs to throw more punches than she is doing, because Vanessa’s beginning to look like she’s come through the storm, and she’s doing a good job of fighting Miley in smart little spurts, landing on the blonde with a couple of neat jabs and a hook, getting herself clear, letting Miley come to her, and now she thuds in a good sucker punch to Miley’s mouth as the champion misses with an attempted uppercut, Miley not setting that move up at all well, and she gets nailed again there as Vanessa gives her some more, but comes back once again in the final seconds, her left jab finding Vanessa’s mouth but she’s been outwitted and outfought in this round, so needs to get back on track.

Round 5

Circling, Miley snaps out a straight leading jab at Vanessa, catching her well, lands another, but settles back, again letting the brunette come at her, looking to counter – but Vanessa has more ringcraft than that, and she doesn’t rush in, waits, lets Miley commit herself instead, and now whips in a hook to the blonde’s body, hurting her wit her left , landing it just under Miley’s arm when the champion misses with an attempted right hook of her own, and that’s set Miley up a little, the blonde backing into the ropes, stooped slightly, Vanessa unpicking her defence easily with one, two, three little uppercuts, Miley’s head lifting up each time, and that leaves her flattened against the ropes, Vanessa again backing off, letting Miley come back at her, hitting on the counter attack, a very clever tactic, with Miley looking a little green right now, against a seasoned fighter who sinks a hard straight right into the champion’s midriff, Miley needing to clinch, blowing hard as Vanessa at last begins to test her ability to take a good punch, dominating a hard round.

Round 6

It’s Vanessa again on top as the sixth opens, and she gets Miley moving backwards early on with a neat piece of work, stepping inside her guard, Vanessa opens Miley up with a hard left hook to the jaw, and follows that with a swift right, left, right, sending the blonde girl backwards, stooping again, Vanessa again swiping her upright with that uppercut, a slightly fuller one this time, and Miley comes away from that exchange with blood running from her nostrils, the girl worrying at the damage with her glove, again giving Vanessa the time and space to hand her punishment, Miley not wanting to retreat, but having little choice as the energetic Vanessa hits and hurts her with a lovely right hook, thrown from somewhere near her hip, smacking it up and across Miley’s face, the blood spraying across the ring from her damaged nose, Vanessa now urgently following up, but Miley meets fire with fire, and punches her way off the ropes, landing a solid three shot combination to Vanessa’s face as the brunette suddenly needs to cover, but she’s pretty much evened this fight up now after her tough start.

Round 7

Miley’s digging deep here, and she’s showing some good moves again as she gets on her toes and starts to outbox Vanessa, using her extra reach to ensure that she lands some leather again, with the brunette conceding ground in the early exchanges, fighting back in a good patch where she hits the champion to the ribs, but now Miley’s back in the groove, and she swats Vanessa with a left and a right, the little brunette backing off, tries to get out of trouble, but eats a straight right, and that’s flattened her against the turnbuckle, Miley closing in, looks ready to knock Vanessa out here, but she loses her composure, misses Vanessa with her intended right hook, gets her left blocked, and finds that the challenger isn’t done yet as she rips a pair of lefts into Miley’s body, Miley dropping her elbow, taking a punch to the jaw as a result, and she has to back away, takes another to the body, but pings Vanessa again with a left and a right to
leave the brunette a little dazed at the bell, taking over again.

Round 8

Miley just loves it when she feels her plans coming right, and she’s off her stool quickly, looks casual as she carries her gloves a little low this time, and she throws a speculative right hand at Vanessa, which the older girl avoids, and she returns fire with violent intent, unloading a three punch salvo to Miley’s body, good punches to send the blonde girl backwards, Vanessa coming forwards now, showing no respect for Miley’s punches as she tries to counter, again stepping aside, and she rips into Miley’s ribs, three more heavy left hooks into her midsection to bend her over, and there’s that right hook cum uppercut again, the blue leather lifting Miley’s head up and back, a sharp jab getting the blood flowing from her nose again immediately after, and Miley needs to clinch here, because she’s in trouble, Vanessa too swift on her feet, stepping and skipping side to side, and she hurts Miley again to the body, gets home with the uppercut – and Miley’s down! The champion couldn’t take that one, and it’s floored her for a 6 count, Miley looking really tired and leaden now, Vanessa not getting overexcited, though, satisfied with winning a hugely one-sided round, Miley gulping in air through her mouth as her nose clogs with blood.

Round 9

Vanessa seems in no hurry to punish Miley, and she’s letting the champion come to her instead, Miley needing a good round, and she’s looking determined, a little battered maybe, but determined, and she stabs out her jab again, Vanessa again not respecting the punch, and retaliating with a pair of hooks to Miley’s body, Miley wincing as the get home, but she comes forward some more, and her jab’s getting through Vanessa’s guard whether the little brunette likes it or not, her head being rocked back again – but she’s crucially denying Miley space, the taller girl too close to land a telling blow, and getting herself tied into clinch after clinch as Vanessa leans into her, running down the clock, not even trying to hit Miley overmuch now, just tire her, confident that the opening will come, and come it does as Miley gets a little too casual after yet another break and reset, Vanessa reacting more quickly, landing a left hook, then a right, Miley’s head swinging one way then the other, as Vanessa does enough work in the closing seconds to show that she has some energy left – has Miley?

Round 10

This fight is pretty close, but if Miley wants to keep the belt, she needs big last round – and she’s starting with just the right attitude, sticking out her jab, moving in behind it, and she connects with a solid right cross to get Vanessa going backwards, the brunette still moving well though, still looking quietly confident, and Miley again swings her right hook, Vanessa swaying clear, and she counters – this is good work from the brunette as she crunches hooks into Miley’s ribcage, the blonde too upright, and Vanessa hurts her with a right to the midsection, Miley groaning, knees giving a slight wobble, and Vanessa tests her out with a the uppercut again, just a little short one, and another, and she’s got Miley staggering and swaying, the blonde almost losing her footing as she trips backwards, on the ropes again, and Vanessa pours on the heat, smashing Miley’s head up with another uppercut, and now she rips into her body again, Mileyexhausted, cannot find anything, just defends herself as best she can, but another right hook smacks home on her jaw, and there’s a left to join it, Miley really struggling as the fight comes to it’s final seconds, Miley again eating a big right, but there goes the bell, and this will go to the judges!

Miley stumbles and falls as she tries to get to her corner, and has to be helped to her feet before being half dragged to the centre to hear the result:

Result: Vanessa Hudgens beat Miley Cyrus on points to become the new FCBA flyweight champion.

Poor Miley’s reign is over after just one unsuccessful defence, and it has to be said that, other than the first three rounds, she was given a lesson tonight by a girl who has been undefeated throughout 2014, and, on this form, is capable of repeating that feat in 2015!
