CELEBRITY BOXING AFTER DARK

BEFORE: "Sure, Paula Patton has beaten Amanda Righetti before but that's ancient history!", Liz Berkley triggers the trash talk on her high-profile return to the ring, "Just look at her last fight though! Bianca Kajlich smoked her like a pro and that's my chance of entering the Top 20 again! I'm like one fight away from pitching the likes of Loken or Henstridge and perhaps even make Tyra Banks beg for her life and someone like Patton ain't gonna derail my plans whatsoever!"

Meanwhile Paula prefers to keep her opinions private, still nursing a mental scar after getting pummelled by Kajlich last December, however she ignores touching gloves with Berkley before the fight and indicates she's gonna send her into retirement and make all the pre-fight talk from the blonde look absolutely meaningless. "I've let Berkley steal all the headlines in the last few days but that's a perfect plan. She's been out of the ring for a while and must think I'm a sluggish tramp who'll get brushed aside easily! I'm gonna soooo open her eyes tonight and then shut them right back once I knock her the #### out!", Paula is heard talking to the ref who looks amused he's gotten into those mind games ahead of the BWO and Tractorpull pundits instead.

Elizabeth Berkley wears a navy blue bikini top, white micro-skirt and gloves. Curled blonde hair tied in a ponytail. Paula Patton wears an orange bandeau bikini from the Complex Magazine shoot and black gloves. Dark brown hair tied in a ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
All Patton early who jumps into a jabbing frenzy and exposes the fact Berkley's been inactive for months as she pours leather all over her foe and clips the chin several times leaving Liz lucky she's not been tagged by a real piledriver here. Supreme agility and footwork on display from the former Righetti conqueror who splits Berkley's mitts more often than not and snaps Berkley's head back reeling her slowly but surely towards the ropes. Elizabeth tries to respond over the top but struggles in close range and has to bellow out butt-in-ropes in the final minute as Patton overwhelms her completely but lacks that big punch to really inflict the breakthrough damage.

Round 2:
Patton looks to hassle the curly blonde again but misses her approach for once and WALKS into a clubbing hook that nails her on the jaw and bends to the side on the spot. That's Elizabeth's first meaningful punch of the whole fight and makes the difference already as the veteran seizes the opportunity and pounds away in high gear, she slams Paula's mitts aside and thumps her cheeks to snap the head back and stun the younger actress in the middle of the ring. A couple of uppercuts shut Patton's eyes and makes her wince in discomfort and a put away hook aimed at the temple sends her wobbling back to the ropes. Liz jumps on her prey but switches to a chest attack and clips Paula's mounds to increase the moaning before drilling the navel as Patton reverts into a late clinch to prevent further damage. A truly shocking comeback from Berkley leaves her pumping herself up during the interval while Paula adjusts her bandeau bikini and shakes her head in utmost disgust.

Round 3:
Liz looks to maintain her aggressive approach but Paula's equally stubborn in her efforts to put the veteran away; both women struggle in a close range brawl early that features more wrestling and shoving than actual boxing before Patton makes the breakthrough with a quick uppercut follow by an overhand on the eye. Berkley rocks a bit however refuses to yield real estate; she leans back on the younger woman and slips by onto her ribcage as there's no quarter given even if the precision of attacks drops dramatically and both women settle into more pushing and clinching late on. Liz is happy to drag her higher rated opponent into an ugly display but falls short of pulling the round in her favor when a late combo slams her on the chin and wobbles back onto her heels instead.

Round 4:
More of the same in the fourth, Liz drags Paula into a shoving match and reverts into single punches on the midsection allegedly making the difference. The pace of the fight slows down and enables the long absent blonde veteran to bide more time as Paula starts to complain to the ref about these tactics. She gets no support though as the man in charge orders her to get on with it but all in all this only plays into Berkley's advantage who punishes the breadbasket down the stretch and clips Patton's jaw a couple of times to sink her on the knees late on. Paula's furious at the bell while Liz nods back at her in approval and there's seemingly little chance she'll change her tactics anytime soon!

Round 5:
Paula's angry which threatens to unload a lethal Berkley leather on the counter but as another tangle is enforced - Patton's blurred mind doesn't accept a change in her own approach whatsoever - Elizabeth skims off the jugs and wobbles straight into her opponent's embrace where Paula just turns her around and shoves into the ropes before digging a low punch just above the waist. Liz bends to the side and argues she was fouled but the ref has none of it and turns another blind eye allowing Paula to slam her best punch of the night and nail Berkley's exposed chin in full force... Liz gets whipped over the ropes with a loud moan and endures a brutal follow up treatment on the jugs as Paula bats 'em with half-uppercuts and leaves the older actress yelping in pain... Liz looks down and tries to clinch but fails to tame the high tempo onslaught and allows Patton to beat her back to the turnbuckle where she gets clobbered on the tummy and sinks on her knees for good. A late jabbing combo splits her gloves alltogether and enables Paula to bruise the right cheek with a rallying combo that shuts Elizabeth's eyes at the bell.

Round 6:
Liz looks a bit woozy after that terrible round and Paula's on top of her early in the sixth again, this time a riffling series splits the blonde's mitts much easier and snaps the head back and it's obvious the older of the two women would like to enjoy some respite; Paula gives her none though and dismantles the guard down the stretch; Berkley in avoidance leaps since the second minute but still getting caught by single hands as Patton ups the intensity and sets up a highlight finish when Liz loses her footing and wobbles straight into a piercing hook on the jugs followed by a haymaker left on the brow ridge... Welterweight power on display as the blonde hits the deck HARD and rolls onto her side with a shrieking whimper.... You don't beat this kind of shots at THIS weight... KO6 Paula Patton!!!

AFTER: Some people in the audience forget these two are no flyweights and it can all end just as quickly as it did here with Liz Berkley counting stars and unable to get up for best part of a minute. Paula Patton twirls around a couple of times in delight and looks genuinely happy after what threatened to be another dismal night when Berkley applied the brawling and shoving tactics more successfully. Sometime an angry fighter is a vulnerable fighter but that wasn't the case tonight as Patton exposed Berkley's long-time absence from the ring and helped chase away the Bianca Kajlich demons for a while.

Liz finally gets up on her knees and shakes her head accepting the sudden downfall, "Yeah, that was some punch! Damn you, Patton! I should have landed that right across your face!", she stomps her foot in frustration when Paula's hand is raised and both women share a cold hug not even looking at each other. In fact Patton bumps the blonde off with her chest but Elizabeth's in no mood to respond as she dwells on some pundits calling for her retirement. "So much for that Top 20 rankings now! What a damn shame!", she tells herself during a disgraced walk off while Paula Patton's on the phone trying to set up a match with one buxom redhead next! Watch this space!

Final result: Paula Patton def. Elizabeth Berkley KO6.
