(Boxing After Dark)

Before: Meyer riding a tidy little KO streak—Stone a crafty vet and a pretty big name, proof positive that Dina’s comeback is on track. Sharon’s best days behind her physically, but she’s got one of the best boxing brains in the business, figures to give Meyer problems that a more straight forward fighter couldn’t. Dina in grey Everlast sports bra, black high cut aerobics bottoms, hair up—Stine in black sports bra, black boycut trunks, hair cut.

During R1: Meyer going right at Stone, beating Sharon to a right hand and STONE GOES DOWN! Double S stamped in the teeth, scoots to her butt and takes a shaky 8 seconds into the fight. Dina at her marauding best, punching as she dives in, chasing Stone all around the ring, Sharon with that stiff legged gait, crumbling into the ropes, getting rattled as Meyer tees off in wild, pitching action, Down the stretch, Stone starts to restore order—fighting well in reverse, double-dabbing out of her jab, poking in the straight right hand, stepping back to pick Meyer up the hook and DINA’S HURT! Meyer walking right in, getting herself tic-tac-toed and it’s Stone coming forward behind her herky-jerky, stabbing rights at the bell.

R2: Dina trying to find lightning in a bottle again, but Stone adept at fighting in retreat. Fighting on straight legs, she’s picking Meyer up with the jab, walking the aggressor into straight right hands and nibbling hooks. Sharon steps and wheels, dragging that front foot, just pesterming Meyer for points from outside.

R3: Stone establishing control, but Meyer still winging dangerous leather at times. Sharon keeping something on Dina at all times, left, left, straight right, left hook, backing away, pivoting around that lead foot., Whenever Meyer gets Stone up against the ropes,. Savvy veteran clinches  up head and arm for the break. Down the stretch, Stone pushing Dina back with the jab, then retreating, luring Meter forward and NAILING her a sweetly timed right hand down the pike, beating Dina to the punch. Meyer put wobbly butt at the bell—Stone conmtent to touch her up with the jab rather tan take any chances.

R4: Stone has Dina diffused—Meyer sullen, walking in with gloves at her lips, afraid to punch because of Sharon’s well-times right hands. Stone presses the action, taking over from Dina, backing her up with pumping jabs, spearing right hands and the occasional galloping flurry to the midsection whenever Meyer’s back touches the rope. Midway through, Stone bouncing her fists off Dina’s belly—Meyer reaching in to clinch and Stone lights her up with a beautiful lean away right uppercut off her back foot. Dina staggered once again, gets jabbed to the ropes and sliced up as Stone salts away another round.

R5: Sharon outboxing Dina, shining Meyer’s face up drilling right hands off the constant stick, and punishing the stronger woman with gambling, long armed barrages to the midsection. Meyer headhunting exclusively—predictable offense picked up nice by Stone’s high block., At the bell—Meyer bleeding from the nostril—she’s taking too many punches, losing too many minutes as Stone starts to pull away on the cards.

R6: Stone dragging that front foot, nice loose left hand spank-spanking off Dina’s face as Sharon pivots and retreats in good order. Midway through, Meyer crouching., bending at the waist, suddenly rockets over the top, timing Stone’s right hand with a slashing right of her own and STONE GOES DOWN! Exact replay of the opening minute—Sharon hammered hard, scooting to her butt and shaking her head in shock at the power. Stone takes 8, sets up at the ropes with gloves at her temples—big beefy beatdown from Dina Meyer as Stone rolls and blocks to the bell.

R7: Sharon leaning away, trying to lure Dina forward again, but Meyer’s got the range down now. Another leaping right hand catches Stone on the tip of the chin and SHARON’S DOWN AGAIN! Stone just can’t take Dina’s punch—Sharon crashes in a heap at the ropes, limbs all spasmy and weak as she struggles to climb the strands. Stone digging in at the ropes again and it’s WAR! Meyer slashing in with overhand rights—Stone rolling with the punch, answering back with the right uppercut, Meyer shaking it off, standing right THERE to lash back in anger, Sensational two-way slugging—Sharon getting the best of it as she rolls and counters, blocking Meyer’s mitts then scoring heavily to the blonde’s solar plexus and chin with rising left and right licks. MEYER”S LEGS GIVE WAY! Sharon getting to Dina and backing her up—Stone curling her punches up over either shoulder as she clips away at Dina’s chin with both hands, outworking her girl at close range. Meyer faltering backwards, gets beaten the length of the ring as Stone gets her lank behind the blows. Stone punching Dina’s face sleepy at the bell with crisscrossing lefts and rights—leaves Meyer woozy as the ref breaks ‘em up late.

R8: Stone working Dina over with the jab, stepping around her girl, Meyer bobbing, weaving in and out of her crouch, just trying to walk Stone down. Midway through, Dina hasn’t thrown a punch, but she’s got Stone hemmed in a corner. Wide, searching left gathers stone in and a BOOMING short right hand explodes off the veteran’s teeth as Dina leans in hard. Stone dropping to her butt in the corner and she is OUT! Spectacular KO8 Dina Meyer!

After: Hellish punching performance from Meyer erases good work from Stone and leaves her shattered after eating right hands all night long. Stone exposing all the old Meyer weaknesses. Dina getting away with poor punch selection, slipshod defense and poor work rate in many rounds due to Meyer’s stunning power and accuracy. In the end, fatigue caught up to the older woman—Sharon unable to execute as sharoly as she needed down the stretch, enabling a persistent Dina to zero in.
